I am suffering from herniation stenosis but absolutely no pain but I can't walk independently without the assistance of a care taker. I cannot lift right leg while start walking or turning but I can walk after started to walk but I fear to fall. I am suffering since 6 months. Waiting to be cured naturally or advice by you sir.

I had a laminectomy Dec. of 2017. I'm having the same problems again. When I describe my stenosis, it's like having the pain in your back that you would have if you put a tourniquet cinched around your arm, and then not being able to release it. This is the discomfort I get after minutes of walking, so I then must sit down or lean on something for a bit before I can walk without discomfort, but then of course it starts all over again when I start walking. So is that the nerves, blood vessels, or both? I had heniated disc surgery when I was very young and know all about sciatica, but that type of discomfort is not my main pain. I ask this question for anyone, since in the video the doctor does not talk pain related to lack of blood flow caused by blood vessels being pinched, since that is what my pain mainly feels like. Thank you very much if you can relate and give me some feedback.

In my much research of reading, listening and viewing, I cannot find an "answer". My impeded central canal has only a 25% channel for the nerve bundle to pass through. Exercise, stretching, alternative treatments, etc. can possibly OPEN or RELAX "MANY PINCHED AREAS" in the body, PROMOTING MOBILITY and PAIN MANAGEMENT. But non-surgery options WILL NOT REMOVE CENTRAL CANAL HINDERANCES or SPREAD THE CANAL BONES/OPEN THE CANAL ..... in order to enhance mobility and pain management. Is that correct? If so, it seems to me (if generally high success rate) that common sense dictates that limited invasive surgery should be an early option instead of a last option. Clean out the pipe first and then add then add stretching, exercises, etc. Is this faulty reasoning? Thanks for any help!!!!

hi, new subscriber here. i have a complex back history with 10 plus years and number 5 operation coming up in August. i live in NZ so a small county, but what are your thoughts on upright MRI vs MRI or CT? first surgeon stuffed the operation up and now its been fixed resulting in more operations on upper levels to fix damage don, but i still suffer serious fatigue and nerve/leg issues that they cant seem to pin whats causing it.

How can we reduce the broadening and widening of the ligament flavum from slacking so the space is increase? By exercise and physio?

Dr. Shim how does someone know if their back did not fuse after a lumbar fusion? My surgeon seems to say its not evident on the CT scan sort of vague... so he wants to refuse because I am having issues after I do any PT. It's been over a year since my fusion. Thanks for any help.

Why my back is still on Pain and shooting down to my Left Leg & Upper back going to my Left neck & got a severe head ache also Pain on my Upper left Back & Chest that difficult to breath. is there a possibilities of recurrent herniated disk that cause pain again?

doctor i have a L4 L5 S1 i just got my new i had 3 MRI but this one says L5 S1 broad posterior disc hernation which is slightly more prominent than on the prior study deforms the ventral epidural space and there is left greater than the right foraminal extension with abutment of exiting left L5 root and narrowing of the foramina diminished disc space height ventral extension of the disc remains and discogenic chages and scmorl;s node in the end platates.mild facet hypertrophic changes remain L4L5 S1 ,,,,,doc my friend told me narrowing part of stenosis ,doctor can you help me out with this ,,thank i been watching ur video;s there very good ,,thank you,,

I was attacked and thrown across the room. I was told I had spinal stenosis. I was very healthy and was hardly every been sick. Now I have a hard time walking, it seems to me my spine was split. There should be some help so I could be healthy again.

Because I did spinal cysts surgery in my low back in S1, S2,and S3 ,last few months because I couldn't sit on my butt comfortable and still , before surgery and I still I feel like pressure like rock or ball moving different ways when I changed the way when I sit !! Even I have constipation....and I around my vagina is not moving like normal and I couldn't do sex with my husband because I will feel severe pain and like the muscles' vagina didn't move and also I'm in perimenopause !!?! I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and a degenerated disk two years ago. I work a 8 hour shift on my feet my back is in so much pain and discomfort. I do stretches and I use to lift weights before the diagnostic. I think that may prevented the symptoms getting worse.

So if you have a slip and fall directly on your lower lumbar and suddenly can't hardly walk or pull yourself up while lying down, nothing was wrong before the fall. And In fall your head bounces of floor you also hurt your neck and get shocks throughout extremities when moving head. Why did the fall cause spinal stenosis?

Hey Dr im 26 years old and been having pain for about 3 months lower back and buttocks and behind my thighs as well as coccyx i cant walk for more than 25 min because the pain becomes unbearable and it also hurts when i sit down or lie down it seems nothing alleviates it i got an mri done A week ago and it said i was born with a small spinal canal and have mild lumbar stenosis my question is does this pain last forever and can drinking alcohol make the pain worse as i drink heavy daily. Was diagnosed over a year ago. Also have had Arnold Chairi Malformation 2 for over 10 years. The Stenosis became severe and they wanted to do emergency surgery and then the world stopped because of Covid. Now I have a question. My neck sounds like Rice Krispes snap crackle and pop. Occasionally it will pop very loudly. The uncontrolled twitches have gotten worse over time. Feels like knives or swords going thru my neck and head. I am wondering how is it possible that i ended up with over an inch hole on my left earlobe? It is nearly a quarter inch wide now. Have pretty well lost hearing on that side. Main problem is i have no way to pay for the surgery or any quarantee that it would help get rid of the pain. What are your thoughts. Getting old an falling apart is no fun. Am 66. The Clonzapam is the only thing that helps slow down the twitches.

If have back pain at night only. Usually can sleep for 2 to 3 hours before the pain wakes me. I toss and turn, less pain when on my side. I wish I was educated about it I’m paying for it now left it untreated till it left me paralyzed had surgery in 2016 n I gotten better I have got some of my movements I can urinate bawl movement is kinda normal. I have bad core balance I can’t stand straight wit out spasms my legs are weak but getting better. When I stretched my back pops all over. I wish you would have mentioned in some cases it's not part of the normal aging process. DDD can be familial. I started having my first symptoms at 37, had my first surgery at 44. My Dad was 46 and my brother was 45. My cousin was in his 30's.

Hi Doc I thought Im healthy I've been coming to gym for the last 2 years, running and hiking. had lower back pain in the past but healed only few days. Last January when I was doing my deadlift without proper warm up and no belt I felt something pain in my buttocks but stil carried 1 more set. for few days I carried light. After 4 days there was an excruciating pain in my buttocks and partly lower back. I went to therapist but did not helpa and went to another physio but did not help. aftet 2 days I went to my doctor and was given my pain killer and for muscles plus I do my own lower back stretches seems OK after 2 weeks I'm back in the gym and seems I'm 80% recovered. but March 1 I become so busy with my workd and drive long hours. slowly the pain is back. March 28 I rested the next few days was very painful even to walk. I jst rest and do my own stretches. April I see different physio therapist and sometimes they give me different style. seems better a bit. I did home work out using resistance band. squat deadlift lunges push ups sometimes a bit of running . May and June I had MRI. I have ddd stenosis and disc bulges between L4 L5 and as per orthopedic and nuero surgeon was the cause of my pinched nerves. neuro even discussed surgery the nxt option. it's scares me. I thought I was healthy. Last January I was lifting heavy weights and here am I now, its slow me down like 50% or more. I can walk and sit but not comfortable. I can't to long walking. why I did not know before. now I'm having therapist like decompression of spinal . any reply doc will be appreciated. Thank you
