Having worked with young people in London schools for a good while I couldn’t agree more about the waste of human potential and the systems of oppression set up to keep people in poverty and shame. I’m reading ‘Natives’ - it should be on the curriculum, but I doubt very much anything so wideranging and challenging to the status quo ever will be. Heck, we don’t even get taught about the Scottish clearances or partition in Northern Ireland let alone Britain’s colonial history further afield and it’s part in modern racism and class entitlement. He’s a hip-hop Fanon and he’s going to inspire a whole generation to demand change (I hope). No more wasted lives.
