What is the Beretta 1934-1?
R Guns has apparently imported something called the Beretta 1934-1 - which is an altered Beretta 1934 that had to be modified in order for it to be imported into the United States due to silly importation gun laws.
Is this a good thing? The Beretta 1934 served in the Second World War and for many years after this point. This military surplus pistol was permanently changed by having the barrel shortened.

Actually looks better this way - like the Mod 92 with the “tip nipped” (combining guns and Mel Brooks - well done).

I bought 2 from them $275 each and both shoot really good and have the ww2 style grips and magazines and the lanyard ring on the frame. Both were originally made in the 1980's

Would anything stop one from swapping in an original-length barrel?

I don't see anything that wouldn't let you swap it out, but I haven't handled any in person.

It was necessary due to laws if there was any hope of bringing these in. Not much hope of rolling this rule back because the US gun manufacturers won't get behind changing it as they think it might hurt their sales, even slightly. Very complex rule, by the way. It has to do with a point system on size and caliber but also whether the gun was military vs police or civilian. I'm glad they did what they had to and I would like to have one.

It's unfortunate, but considering it's either that or something like getting warehoused forever or destroyed, I'll take what I can get. Also, between these being all 1970s/80s commercial and not WWII surplus afaik, and also them being both super cheap and functionally the same (and a little less worn than WWII guns), it's not the worst deal. If it really mattered, I could just buy a new barrel or a C&R Beretta. That being said, US import laws suck.

Yes, I really wish they could be imported as is, but between this and nothing, at least this is getting them into the hands of people.

@@GearyGunderson agreed. Plus, it could be worse than that. RTI could get ahold of these and sell them for 800 each (since they "super rare 1970s mfr" and aren't rusted to fuck and back lol). 275 is a steal for a shooter.
