Low smoke and fume cables are used extensively in commercial buildings and timber-framed buildings. The twin and earth variety can be a challenge to strip compared with regular PVC T&E cables. The XPLE inner conductors and the LNNH outer jacket can be difficult to remove especially in cold temperatures.
In this video, we explore a number of the wire strippers we've reviewed on the channel before with twin and earth LZNH cable from Doncaster Cables.

I have to say I do love the ideal automatic stripper , but I prefer the old way , because that’s what I am used to . As for temperature there’s nothing worse than trying to strip cable in cold weather I always warm up the cable a bit with the good old zippo 👍. Fantastic video guy’s as always 👍👍👍👍👍❤️⚡️

I was on a job and couldn't strip the inner insulation of LSF with my strippers the other guys were using wire cutters. I bought a pair the next day.

Love those knipex installation pliers. For a none electrician like me they seem like a very versatile tool when you don't use it day in day out.

I remember you saying about not installing in freezing temperatures but can remember many a day struggling onsite during winter working. Does anyone actually stop installations below freezing? Nowadays working in industrial Electrical repair work it is the other way round working with machines kicking out 80degree heat. Seeing problems with cables going off due to heat / age.

I looked at stripper wiedmuller stripper [STRIPAX Ultimate] for this I dont see it at the moment but there is a TEMPO PA1113 listed instead which is quite pricey (I purchased the Stripax 16 after your review which worked fantastically until I came across low smoke cable (which was fairly quick) and was stumped :-(

What do you think of the CK automatic stripper? I've been using one for almost a year. I'm an industrial electrician so very rarely come across T&E, it's usually singles in conduit or panels, SWA, H07 flex and sometimes SY. I've found it to be pretty good, except it really struggles with the more rubbery insulation and sometimes can't do it. It can also strip some cables of their outer sheath leaving the inner insulation on the cores. I've found it worked well for stranded cable too, just taking the insulation off and not taking any strands with it.

What about LSZH cable pulling lubricant? Besides Polywater LZ I didn't see anything on the market that is safe to use with LSZH jackets (most lubricants will cause the insulation to crack)

I noticed Gary's handedness. Perhaps a video showcasing electrical tools (or others since you showcased the Bix) that are made for us (Hazet makes a version of their water pump pliers or the spanner from Stahlwille, which is small but lefty). Or are made ambidexterous (Hazet's & Knipex auto adjusting locking pliers. I too am left handed & have made an effort to seek out left handed tools recently because I've had accidents that I can directly attribute to living in a righted handed world. I know of the Ergostrip but it's disposable & I don't like that. I'm a Yank & would buy American to support a local family but options are lacking. Klein is good but until recently didn't make insulated tools. Malco makes the best vice grips(locking pliers) anywhere but their prices are absurd & a they're a new company. I'm waiting for them to put out a set.

Electricians Rates needs to be increased by 40% . The amount of lads who will be riddled in hand joint pain and arthritis with increased effort now required whether mechanically assisted or not is going to be vast.

Don't think I've ever seen a pair of wire strippers in my entire life. Everyone just uses their snips. People can't be bothered carrying 10,000,000 tools in their pocket on a second fix.

I was taught not to pull the CPC to strip the cable as it stretches the CPC, thus reducing the CSA of the conductor, and therefore the current carrying capacity in fault conditions.
