Love my bolinas ridge! Totally got me back into biking. Always wanted a Marin from seeing the odd rare one back in the 90's. Just upgraded to the San Quentin and love that more!! Just need to sort out the 'chain suck' as it's scratched the frame. Come on guys, don't slack on the smaller parts of such a great bike! I'll definitely be looking to upgrade again next time ❤

Hello Mr. Abrams. I'm riding the same color Bolinas Ridge 2 that you shows there. I liked the color most of all. I am 169 cm tall but only 70 cm inseam. I wanted Marin's frame with a low stand over height. I wasn't sure whether the size was S or XS, but I chose S (In Japan now, XS size is sold as "Donky Jr 650 MTB") . Its top tube is about 7cm below my crotch when put on my shoes. it's a very comfortable to ride. But if "Wild cat trail 3" had been sold in Japan, I would rather have bought that. Since I needed a low standover height (S size frame is 663mm) and a long effective top tube length or reach, I moved the saddle back and added a 10cm stem. Since the stem is long, it is inevitable that the handling will change. The short legs eliminate the need for a dropper seatpost. So it's OK if the seatpost diameter is 27.2mm. Living in Japan, I'm changing the brakes to Shimano because the parts are easy to obtain. The chainring and cranks to XT(30T/165mm crank length), BB also changed to one compatible with Shimano's XT, and the derailleur(RD-M6100-SGS) and cassette to Deore 12-speeds(CS-M6100-12). Shifters(SL-M6100-R), of course. Only the installation of disc brake caliper in the rear was tricky. By attaching a long 5mm bit to the torque wrench, the bolt from the back can be tightened to the specified torque. If you tilt the bit of the ball point, the torque will not be displayed accurately and the bolt will be destroyed, so be careful. I was a little flustered because original Fixing bolt on the crank is not 8mm. It's an inch size. In order to accommodate the 12-speed cassette, I assembled the rear wheels with the OLD 135mm Shimano FH-MT500 microspline hub and DT Swiss 25mm rims, and the front wheels were also assembled with DT Swiss rims. The tires are tubeless from Schwalbe's RocketRon. Right now, I'm wondering whether to put CushCore in the rear tires. The grips are replaced to ergon, and the pedals are Japanese aluminum platform. Finally, the front fork replaced to SR Suntour's mid-range air suspension "Raidon" with remote lockout. From Raidon grade, the fork's legs are made from magnesium, so they are lighter. Thanks to Marin building the Low Stand over frame bike, I had the bike of my dreams. I really appreciate it. This is my dream bike within my budget. The total cost is probably in the 150,000 yen range(about $1,000) + cost of tools. And it fits my body shape to the maximum. I bought Bolinas Ridge 2 at a bargain for the closing season. What's next? I hope there is a way to buy the Wild Cat Trail series in Japan somehow. It is an attractive product not only for women, but also men with short legs. If I can buy a SAN QUENTIN 3 Frame kit at Japan, I can build a bike from it. Or Bobcat Trail 3 with my Bolinas Ridge's 1 by 12 Component. It's fun to think about it.
