Too bad this video was cut off just as Stephen A. was making an interesting point about the "owner" debate... This was a terrific segment that, frankly, deserves to be shown in full. Although this topic is related to the NBA, it is also a microcosm of one of the key issues we're facing in our society right now. Dialogue matters, and it's always great when sports are used to help initiate dialogue that other institutions within our world are too afraid to address.

He can leave ESPN anytime he wants. They write his checks. They have rules when working for them. You can lobby to change the rules but they still own the business. Just like someone still OWNS the clippers. But not the players they can do whatever they want but not if they want the person who owns the team(not them) to continue paying them. Lorcan Rees I was wondering if anyone else had a problem with this. I literally wrote a post or comment on this very thing and if it was legitimate, they actually commented back basically saying they didn’t Won’t the clip or video be to be long. I responded, that makes sense, however, post the whole video and give individuals the opportunity to fast forward. Owner is not a racist term, people are reaching there... I work for a company that someone owns and I get paid far less than an NBA player. Working for an owner of a company doesn't make me or anyone a slave, it makes us employees. If we don't like where we work we are free to quit.

Tbh sports have never been an escape from reality. Ever since black rights movements who have tried to fight for equal rights, sports have been in the battle to create an equal playing field where u are not judged on your skin but your skill.. If there was fit-and-proper-person test (used in the United Kingdom for association football club owners) was implemented in professional sports everywhere there'd have been less cr*p owners like Donald Sterling and some like James Dolan would have been gone a long time ago. And IMO this test should be applied to all sports for owners, executives and coaches.
