Yahweh is only a transliteration and not God's translated name into English as Jehovah. Many are confused concerning God's name as being only Yahweh, which is formed from the Tetragrammaton of YHWH, which comes from the Hebrew יהוה. God's name of Yahweh (or YHWH that is called the Tetragrammaton, which is Greek meaning "having four letters", these four Hebrew letters being Yod He Waw He) is transliterated Hebrew into Latinized characters (for English comes from Latin, using its 23 letters plus three added ones, J, U and W added by the 17th century C.E.), but it is translated into English letters as JHVH (or Latinized-English), as Jehovah in English, for transliteration is just "halfway" to English, while translation conveys what one language says into the target language. The Hebrew transliterated letters of YHWH have been vowel pointed in six different ways, as (1) Yahweh at Ex 6:3, (2) Yehowah at Gen 3:14, (3) Yehwih at Gen 15:2, 8, (4) Yehwah at Gen 2:4, 8, (5) Yehowih at Judges 16:28, or even (6) Yahowah, according to professor George Buchanan of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., so that even Hebrew scholars are divided as to which is more accurate. Many complain about "Jehovah", saying that it is inaccurate, but never say a word about such names as Jehoiakim (2 Kings 24:1, 5, 6, Hebrew transliteration as Yhoyaqiym), or Jehoiachin (2 Kings 24:8, Hebrew transliteration as Yhoyakin), Jehoahaz (2 Kings 23:31, Hebrew transliteration as Yhoachaz) or Jerusalem, in which they all start with the same Hebrew letter as Jehovah or Yahweh, with the Hebrew letter Yod, in which Jerusalem in Hebrew יְרוּשָׁלָםִ, in transliteration, as Yrushalaim, in English, as Jerusalem. So, God's name in Hebrew is יהוה is transliterated as YHWH to JHVH in Latinized-English and with vowels of "a" and "e" added to YHWH and are the same ones added to JHVH, with an "o" also included, so that we read God's name as Jehovah. So, such scriptures as Isaiah 64:4, 9 accurately states: "From of old no one has heard or given ear, nor has any eye seen a God except you, who acts in behalf of those who keep in expectation of him.........O Jehovah" with Jehovah having been established for over 300 years and is God's name as we know it for now, and that is in the Hebrew Scriptures, commonly but inaccurately called "the Old Testament", almost 7,000 times. William Tyndale wrote in his introduction to his translated Hebrew into English Pentateuch (or first five "books" of the Bible) in 1530 C.E., before the letter J was added to the English language at the end of the 16th century and looked like the letter " I ": "Iehovah is God’s name . . . Moreover, as oft as thou seist LORD in great letters (except there be any error in the printing) it is in Hebrew Iehovah.” Thus, a true Christian can feel confident when they read the name Jehovah as his ONLY name (in English) while having several titles, such as God (Gen 1:1), God Almighty (Gen 17:1), Sovereign Lord (Gen 15:2), "truly God.....living God" (Jer 10:10), "the only true God" (John 17:3), as the apostle Paul wrote at Romans 10:13, quoting from Joel 2:32: "For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved." It is as Isaiah 42:8 states: "I am Jehovah. That is my name". And only those who allow themselves to "taught by Jehovah" knows him intimately by ' calling upon him ' and will have everlasting life.(Isa 54:13; John 6:40, 45) At Exodus 3:14, the angel that spoke with Moses, even calling himself by the name Jehovah, told him, when Moses asked what he should tell the Israelites when he reached Egypt: "So God said to Moses (explaining the meaning of Jehovah): “I Will Become What I Choose to Become.” And he added: “This is what you are to say to the Israelites, ‘I Will Become has sent me to you."
