+R_Kely P_N_on_U pretty common in the rest of Asia, what most westerners don't understand about Asia is the joke culture. Our jokes may seem harmless to us but to westerners it's like racism. That's something people must understand. And in no way is it meant to harm someone but can be taken the other way especially to people who are not familiar to this.

The reason why we think black people in China are from Africa is because many are actually in the country on business or education. The average African American does not travel to Asia very often, so statistically, it is more likely to be an African.

I was in Beijing and was shocked to see the number of Africans in the city, speaking the language. As an African American, I was definitely seen as a novelty. On a day trip to The Great Wall, it was hard to take it in, without being asked to take pictures, nearly each step along the way, my White counterparts were fascinated with the attention I was receiving. It did not surprise me, because years earlier I had a similar experience in Singapore. In both cases, I was treated well, but I did have a similar experience with the guy in the video, with a Young Chinese girl wanting to play in my Nappy Hair. The hair experience in Singapore had a lasting impact, because that was the very first time, that my Nappy Hair was respected!!! Travel Black People Travel and find out the World loves you!!

They apply their own knowledge onto black people. Eg a lot of Asians can get very tan quickly but their tans can be rubbed off with exfoliation. Likewise when they stay inside they can get very pale. So they don’t understand that the melanin produced in black people is permanent and not a tan/skin reaction. But this is usually dumber or less educated ignorant people. Most people go to high school and college and know a thing or two about biology and human evolution etc.

But I know when European are coming to "help" in Africa, they don't do it for free....they do it because of what they will found in our land. But nowadays, you have more and more Chinese in Africa, some for business, some to steal, other to search for a opportunity.

It shouldn't, because if you stop being PC for just a sec, the thought process is really simple. People that look like ___x___ often do ____y____ which I don't like; therefore when I see someone that is ___x___ I fear ____y____ will happen, so I don't want to be around ___x___ people and I feel better when there are no _____x____ people around me, I like feeling good, so I don't like ___x____ people...................... People can talk all the PR mumble-jumble they want, but the reality is there will always be discrimination because of how easy the above thinking is to fall into, and the human tendency to band into "tribes" (I don't care if everyone was the same skin color, people will find a way to separate into different camps and fight with each other).

don't know why this got pinned but (as an Indian) i'm pretty sure these things and much worse are pretty common in Asia. In-fact this video showed up as one of the recommendations (besides water problem in Cape Town ¿huh¿ and how India treats foreigners of colour) after i finished watching some video about Siddi (Siddhi) community of India. between our 2Billion plus people Sino-India culture and people (despite cheap smartphones, internet) do not really have as well connected orr the online generation. so, i think, you9in Chinna) or I (as someone originally from India) aren't representatives of the larger majority. South Asia, SE Asia and China too are visually racist or at-least we differentiate. Back before 9/11 and till about 2001-2002 too whenever we (as a family) travelled through Indonesia or other places, especially in the non metro towns, men would actually check out our (India) women and even for normal shopkeeper to customer transactions, want to touch the hands of (India) women. there is too thin a dividing line between curiosity and racism. In China, they still get white males recruited through agencies to pose as fake doctors at Hospitals or business moguls at inauguraion of tech parks/ offie buildings or to be arm candy/ host/ even escort for rich id girls. vice versa on the gender thing. even women in Indonesia doted on us men and we Asians even have women who check out whites or 'rich' looking Europeans and Westerners!

You're not part, you are African.. lol Many modern day Mexican generations were not born in Mexico. Does that mean they're not Mexican?? Many modern day Italians were not born in italy or never been to Italy, does that mean they're not Italian.. Your argument is flawd.. About slavery, You're only regurgitating what white people with white guilt told you. You keep shouting "Africans sold us" but that's how far you can only go.. You do know Africa has over 50 countries right? So when you say Africans sold each other, Which nations?? Thats the argument that never gets brought up by white supremacies with white guilt .. The nations that were Responsible for selling Africans were Ghana and Nigeria... 2 countries out Africa and you want to hate all Africans?? But those nations weren't responsible for over 17 millions Africans... The arabs started the slave trade before the european. Did you know Romans sold each other?? Did you know Chinese enslaved the oriental clan ( rural chinese) Every culture sold each other in history.. So miss me with that excuse to hate your roots..

But if you're actually mixed like how Mariah Carey is mixed, then my comment was irrelevant to you and you should not have replied to me.. I was speaking about full-blooded black people like the people you see in this video, not mixed people like you.. iceking guwop why are you so quick to accept a stereotype that was formed to animalize you? Black men are so gullible. Also, as a black woman, I refuse to accept that blackness is the avatar for masculinity because that steteotype puts black women into the masculine pool. No thank you. We have enough problems. I will not uphold that image for you at my detriment.

In China they think white is American, so even if you are an Asian who born in America they would just think you are Chinese even if you can only speak English. Most of the people over there think ethnicity = nationality. Basically if you're not white you can't be an American in their eyes, and that's why "authentic" English can only be spoken by white people. My aunt who is an Asian grew up in the US all her life, and when she went back they say exactly the same thing to her just like this video. They want "native English speaker." That's one of those situation where anyone who isn't white (black, Asian, etc.) they automatically assume English isn't your first language.

You may be reading too much into it...When I go to a Chinese restaurant for some reason I'm a bit disappointed if I see a Mexican chef, but I realize I shouldn't be obviously, especially if the food is as good or better. It's just our innate desire to discover something authentic. When a school in China hires an English teacher, they obviously realize that they can hire a Chinese English speaker, but it's more about the experience they are selling and less about actually learning English. The students and their families are hopping to get a cowboy John Wayne or Brad Pitt, so if they get Margaret Cho instead (American/ Korean I know) they may be a bit disappointed. I have no doubt that the Chinese are very racist, I just don't feel it's as intentional as people think. Just as with the shoddy construction they may just be more interested/ interested in selling form over function.

The strange thing about that is that neither white or black people are native to the Americas... both ethnic groups originate from elsewhere. If we're going to conflate ethnicity with nationality, then the only 'real Americans' are native Americans.

I mean, how does an African American even begin to identify which part of Africa they came from? Although I'm not familiar with the cultures of the continent, I highly doubt it's homogeneous.

I'm Chinese, lived in Africa 12 years. I went to school there, worked for many Chinese companies in Africa. So Yes, I think there are certain amounts discrimination toward black due to some stereotype thoughts. and Yes, most of us will tell you "NO, we are not racist!" and probably will think YOU are racist because YOU accuse US are racist. However I think the question one should ask is not "why don't you admit it?!" but "Why can't you feel it?" Yes, most racists actually do not believe they are racists. unlike some western racism in very obvious way, such as Apartheid and the Pegida nowadays, many Asian cultures tend to contain their expressions. So we may not go for protest, but we have apathy and ignore, which made the discrimination harder to detect, and it create some sort illusions to mesmerized ourselves. 1.Lots Chinese people I known, many of them graduated from prestigious universities, feel The willingness of talking to a black person is slightly different with a white person. 2. Lots Chinese parents couldn't accept their child marry to a black person, especially if the child is a boy. ( same as people say they are totally OK with same sex marriage, but when they find out their children are gays, then ~~ Watch out!) Yes, we can evade to be racist by saying " Oh, you know, it's our tradition or it's personal preference, nothing to do with discrimination" But why do we have those traditions and what made us have those preferences probably is the real question we should ask ourselves. I don't think you are a terrible person when you admit you're racist and willing to overcome it, and Even you say you still can't totally agree with the same sex marriage, something about skin color, I think it's understandable as long as you aware of that and keep it personal. But the worst thing is you are a racist, and you don't know that.

eiji kenji Good. I'm black and even i'll say don't allow anyone to bring victim politics( i.e. let's have a discussion about race) to your country. Crush the discussion whenever you get the chance because it's just going to cause more problems for your people. No outsider to your country should ever feel entitled to anything. If i was Chinese living in China i'd say "yea i'm racist, and?" and leave it at that.

the bench scene and the coffee scene lmfaoooo "why are you black" as rude as that sounds I think some people would actually ask those kind of questions when they can't communicate really well in english. ( this Cambodian guy I worked with didn't speak very good in english and a coworker asked him what kind of music did he like, his reply was "black people music" sad, but didn't understand how to say it correctly .)

***** Have you ever considered you might live in a very multicultural area? 5% of the population of British people are black. In Scotland, I make up the 1% of black British people. I don't have any black friends, and it's not out of choice. It's because I don't know any black people because there aren't many in my area. Everywhere I go, I am the only black person. Please don't try to brush off the fact the the UK is actually quite a racist nation. You're probably white and don't have to experience the scale of racism an ethnic minority might have to. You don't really have the right to say just how much racism exists or just how much it effects a person's life. Don't be a douche.
