A nice anchorage to spend the night on our catamaran sailboat but the charts were not accurate and we ran agound! We had no choice but to wait for the tide to fall and rise again.

It won't be the last time trusting charts will prove to be wrong. One recommendation guys..In case of situations like this or more critical, having two opposing views and not one person being the captain is not a prudent way to manage the emergency. There will be times when you won't have the luxury of time like being grounded. Decisiveness and timeliness will we your salvation. Can not have two captains making decisions, unless the decision is unanimous.

Running aground sux ! Plus if it’s your first time being really stuck it sux even more…..important thing debrief it and learn ! I hope you’ve caught on to the charts on plotters suck in for icw use, get yourself a iPad/droid and put AquaMaps on it and a Bluetooth Garmin gps puck you won’t regret it… I don’t…

We have both! Aqua maps was wrong too. We’ve learned.. Becky did great… I don’t think there’s anything different we could have done.

What larks! Thanks for sharing. At least you didn't make the mistake I did once after running aground: putting it in reverse with enough speed to break us loose, only to run aground in reverse which hit our rudder on a sandbank, snapped our steering cable so I had no steering, and also bent our port rudder. Waiting for the tide was prudent. Sometimes going on the outside is less stressful than the ICW. Or at least a different type of stress.

Oh my!!! That’s a bad day!!! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It seems we all make mistakes and break stuff when we’re new. We are just going through the initiation phase. 🤷‍♂️

I’m saying this nicely…. I removed your other comment. There’s no need to be rude. Here’s the thing… it’s our life, our channel. We show what we want. If the boats a mess then it’s a mess. If we argue at the helm… who cares. Nobody died, we’re not in danger. You’re welcome to watch… hope you do, but if we’re causing your blood pressure to elevate, there are lots of other channels. 😊 Just relax and enjoy the show. Corey

Are ya'll still sailing? Or is this channel dead? Did you sink? Or did ya'll just quit? Ben over a year! I guess I have to move on. To bad it was a Good channel. So Aloha and Mahalo from the Big Island of Hawaii! I guess I will never see your sails on the Horizon from my lanai.
