Hello, great video, thank you. I started researching these little jokers a couple of months ago. First they destroyed my potatoes, then my yellow squash. Once they devastated my tomatoes i had enough. I made the same misidentification mistake and my garden suffered dramatically. In my research, i found soap-water concoctions like yours. I applied the solution with undetermined results (as they literally destroyed their own buffet.) Another suggestion was hand picking. Having many large plants made this challenging, as they have so many places to hide. Now i am using an additional technique with good results. I bought a cordless vacuum cleaner with a flex hose and a flat, narrow nozzle. Im quite sure i look as crazy as it sounds, but im successfully catching the little bastards in groups. They cant scurry (or fly) away fast enough. They appeared from out of nowhere and multiplied at an alarming rate. I was ready to go scorched-earth on them. Ill be ready for them next time. I got em too Brother! It is so depressing when you work your garden and come out and see bugs eating/ killing your garden . I've seen these lil " boogers" all over my plants before. I need to make up some of your spray and fix em! I kinda got burned out in the garden this year. I lost my Dad 25 Jan 2020. Life ain't been the same. I plant a row of potatoes on Valentine's day every year in memory of my great-grandfather,who my Dad told me done same thing. Now I will do it in memory of my Dad. My Dad was 90 yrs years old. He was an Air Force Veteran. His military career going back to World War II. He retired in 1968. I chose a military career because of my Dad's example. I ended with 34 yrs military service. I also respect and appreciate your military service as well. I just wanted to tell you . I hope my garden interest will return to me, so many memories of my Dad and I working the garden together. Just discovered these jokers after noticing damage to my plants. I neglected them for one day then today I noticed them on my squash plants. Thank you for sharing this.

Dam, that sucks but, I think most people will go through something like this at some point in their life if they garden or maintain plant life on a significant Level. I’ve mis-identified critters before and put myself in an even worse situation. I’ve also underestimated critters before too and got my @ss handed to me by the critters. Thanks for the info and hopefully your garden has rebounded successfully.

I can only tell you that I used the Ruth Stout (ie mulch with hay deep) method this year for the first time. My squash did amazing. Last year my squash plants all died (not much mulch). If I do need to spray anything I use neem oil or the spray from "Hydroponic Gardening & More with Brent". Although this year I did not need to spray one time nor did I water even in drought conditions. Thanks to the Ruth Stout method. Thanks for all you do. Love your videos.

It's weird how they all move at once

We can relate. We got hit hard by pests this year, including two kinds of squash bugs. We have been using Neem Oil, to a mostly mediocre outcome.

They also leave white eggs all over your new growth of cucumbers

I did the same thing with squash beetle thinking it was an orange ladybug!

This is tough, I did this thinking it’s going to be easy and thought wrong, I had those red bugs and aphid infestation, on top of that, the iguana wrecking everything

I used the formula you shared with the orange oil and Dr Wood soap. I sprayed these little...well. at 11 am. 2pm...no effect, 5 pm, still...no effect. So when do they die?

I took a leaf and squished them. they like to all hang out together so that makes it easier.

Vine Borers kill my vine plants. Eggs are left by a black moth. Almost impossible to see the eggs they lay and can't see the larvae as they are inside the vines.

What did you use to get rid of the bugs, neem oil?

I just found them on my yucca plant buds....I do not have a garden just yucca plants....now I want to chop them down. Only thing I had to kill them with was wasp spray.

Hello Tom, I mentionned in a comment in another of your videos about the new French technique of treating plants with plants. This book just came out this year. These guys are moving away from the traditional way of making all types of teas, including Comfrey tea, in open air containers. They are now using hydronic air purgers on containers with air tight covers to make sure that there is no air coming in when they are brewing their comfrey tea. Almost like when making beer or wine. This makes a comfrey tea that has a better smell (not the strong rotting putrid smell) and that is in the ph, redox potential and conductivity of the healthy habitat of the plants. It also make a tea that is less likely to attrack pest. They also mention in their protocols to stop all treatments with teas if you have an attack of pests or disease and move to a curatif treatment if you do not want to increase the pest or disease problem. Then once the problem has been solved by the curatif treatment, we can come back to treating with teas. I started testing out their method this year and will continue next year. Do you think that you might have spread your liguid fertilizer on the plants when you started to have some of your pests? This might have caused them to multiply quickly and come out of control!!!
