The most hilarious part of the whole exchange with Todo is that he would have found it perfectly acceptable if Megumi was into guys, the reason he was beating him up was because he just found his answer so boring. He's so insane that he's kind of endearing and just hilarious.

Todo, my absolute favorite character. This dude is so f***ing ridiculous. Homie KNOWS *exactly* what he’s about, and he refuses to respect anyone who doesn’t have the same level of conviction.

Okkotsu Yuta is the other 2nd year along with Maki, Panda, and Inumaki. Hes away right now. Thats why Todo kept mentioning him and wants him to participate in the event.

Todo is kind of the embodiment of yin and yang, because he balances out two opposites. He may first come across like a stereotypical jock, but has a heart of gold and isn't even that popular among others to fit the classic school bully criteria in the first place. He's cool while still being the dorkiest one in the room. While being physically strong, he's kinda pathetic and naive on the social side (in an endearing way). His appearance screams manliness, but he doesn't discriminate against the possibility of Megumi being interested in men. We love the consistent inconsistency of our besto friendo! :3

Ah yes! The salary man with a heart of gold is being introduced. Also, I can't believe that the VA who voices Inumaki also voices Todo here too 😂😂😂

The interesting thing about Todo is that despite being a muscle-bro, that question of his is actually a mind-game- he's less interested in the specifics of their tastes than he is in the WAY that they answer. What he's looking for is for the other person to answer with conviction- either passionately about a specific kink, or rambling about the things they like, or otherwise giving an answer that comes from the heart- expressing themselves despite society not liking it when people openly discuss that kind of thing. That's why he found Megumi's answer so boring- he played it safe and gave a noncommittal boiler-plate answer of basically "as long as she's a person, that's fine." He clearly pictured the girl he likes in his head, but wasn't willing to actually open up about ANYTHING about his type despite clearly envisioning it.

Fun Fact since your posting both reactions simultaneously. Nanami (blonde dude with glasses shown at the very end with Yuji) and Overhaul from MHA has the same Japanese VA. He has a VERY distinct voice where the second any of the characters he portrays start talking you instantly know who it is. Kind of like Chris Sabat with All Might and Armstrong. The next arc is really good and might be one of my favorites in the series.

The whole 'Mai seems like she's attracted to Takada' Juju Stroll thing isn't just a joke; it was actually stated that whenever Mai interacts with a girl it seems like they're dating. So make of it what you will.

Can we just appreciate how casual Todo is about the possibility of Megumi liking guys? He doesn’t make a big deal out of it, he’s just like “that’s fine too.” It’s a silly detail, but it still warms my heart.

I kinda feel that the introduction of Todo in this episode has overshadowed Inumaki's debut display of his Cursed Speech technique. Such a pity! Inumaki deserves an episode just for himself!

By the way, it’s easy to forget but Todo and other sorcerers don’t rely on PURLY brute strength, physical strength can help but most sorcerers use cursed energy imbuing on their bodies as well as any weapons they might use, which grants them superhuman strength. I’m not sure if you necessarily forgot this or not, I’m just saying it because it’s something I’ve seen OTHERS forget. Doesn’t discount Todo anymore though, that’s a crazy degree of cursed energy enhancement and fighting prowess to be able to beat grade 1 cursed with just fists.

Imagine if Megumi summoned Mahoraga vs Todo right there xD. Todo would be a pile of guts right there.

Yeah, it's impressive but anyone who can face off against a world-class champion with a Handicap is not normal. And Todo is facing off against First-grade Cursed Spirits who can tear through buildings and crush cars without using any technique other than an increase in physical strength (which still doesn't put him on their level) and beats them to death barehanded.

Apparently in the unbutchered translation of what Megumi said he never answered with “she” but instead said “as long as *they* have unshakable character” which led many fans to believe he potentially likes men and women.
