I'm in my mid 30's. My dad is coming up on 70 so he doesn't get the whole video game thing. He thought they're dumb and a waste of time. My family and I lived at his house for a year after I got out of the military (we were saving to buy a house) and I played the whole game from start to finish in his living room. He watched every night for weeks. It got to the point where he would rather watch me play the game than watch tv. He started asking me to do specific things like "hey can you go check that out over there?", "steal that coach.", "You're telling me that if you wanted to you could go all the way to the top of that mountian?...do it!", "Look out for that bear!", etc. If this game can do that to my dad then it truly is something special.

Great story, terrible game. I honestly hate this game, I think its overrated garbage. But unlike Souls games, I get the hype, i can see why people think its a masterpiece. With souls like games like Elden ring, I just dont get, even tho I would rather play Elden ring thatn RDR2, its just a high floor low ceiling game in sports terms, its fine, but I dont get why so many people think those souls games are GOATS, they are just fine. When I told people I dont like RDR2 or Elden ring, they say I dont like games anymore, but I dont know, I play Witcher 3 for a third time, and still love it. RDRD is so scripted, so minimal in gameplay, it barely counts as game to me, its a good playthrough watch on youtube, but a terrible actual gameplay experience.

There’s such a calm natural energy to the game. I remember a moment where some dark/disturbing music began playing randomly as I rode my horse, it got louder and louder until I came upon a body that had been ritualistically murdered. Old Rockstar games would have played that moment as a time for humor or zaniness, but this game just kept that disturbing music going until I got on my horse and left. It was a strange feeling riding away from that body on my horse. There wasn’t a line of dialogue, but I rode away in a different state of mind, thinking about the evil that exists in the world

I remember being a massive prick when I first started the game and being super annoyed about the morality system because you get a bunch of perks for being on the right side of it and what not, but then the random conversations that Arthur has with people in the camp about all the terrible things he's done started to make me feel really bad, then the big scene where he gets tuberculosis from the cough happened and I started to play the game differently until it got to the end where you can either go with John or go for the money and emphatically thought "screw the money!" and I really felt the "redemption" part of the title. It's just wild, I don't think that any other medium could toy with your emotions like that because it's actually you doing these things and making these choices for hours on end instead of passively watching. I cried like hell at the end hah. Such a good game.

Played it for the first time this year, probably my favorite game on the ps4, in my top five games of all I’ve played I’d say. I was honestly very surprised how slow paced it was, how heavy every movement felt, but I really appreciated that. It was just right for the kind of story and atmosphere they wanted to convey. My favorite parts of the game wasn’t the high action shoot outs- though those are fun too- but just riding around the world discovering all the details and beauty and hidden stories. I don’t think any other game comes close in terms of the density of little stories that don’t just feel like filler.

He's tired and has a pessimistic view of the world because of what he's seen, but remains willing to give the benefit of the doubt. As the player, I could identify with this. His willingness to listen to others helps with our curiosity when exploring the world while his pessimistic view puts things in perspective for us. Been a while since I last played, but I remember the one thing that blew my mind was somewhere NW of I think Annesburg, there is a lady living alone in the country whose husband died recently. Long story short Arthur helps her, shows her how to shoot and hunt. Then during the epilogue when you visit her as John, you learn she has survived all those years all on her own with Arthur's knowledge. Absolutely mind blowing, I wasn't expecting the game to go so far. Also, I feel like RD online is a story more about Rockstar than it is about the actual game.

This is the only game that got me deeply on an emotional level. Never before had I connected so much with the characters. I think the most significant thing that made me develop such strong relationships is the game's insane level of interactivity, especially when walking around the camp, messing around with your crew and seeing those NPCs interact with each other. I almost wanted to gather my friends, set up a campfire and sing some dirty songs, just as I did with van der Linde's gang - Ring Dang Doo for the win! :D

The Widow of Willard’s Rest, the woman you teach to hunt, is one mission that best exemplifies this sentiment as well as the sentiment of the video. It makes you slow down. It's not a fetch quest. It was that mission that just made the game for me.

But seeing how his character grew and developed over the chapters and then culminated in such a poignant and emotional ending with that absolutely fabulous Score and outro song just made me so emotional about his death that I couldn't pick the game up again for months once I finished it. When I did finally go back and restart as Arthur I was crying all over again because there he was healthy again and everyone else was still alive too. I've run around in the early parts of the game ever since just experiencing the atmosphere. Everything is on ultra and high frame rate, surround sound headphones... It is UNREAL. To me, this is THE GAME that has set the example for many to come... And, just like other people commenting below, I feel almost ripped off by other games. Nothing has compared to RDR2. Nothing has reached the beauty and realism like it has with RDR2. I think this is why so many people are excited for GTA6 because (although its not the wild wild west) they will get that realism back in some shape or form. RDR2 should be re-visited. I've just restarted the game for the second time after a lengthy break from the story, this time playing as evil Arthur and I have to say it's one of the hardest games to play evil, not just because of the way the world will come back to tell you of you're evil deed (a lady criticised me for killing her husband and now her kids have no father) but knowing Arthur's story for my good play through I can't picture him being evil because I liked him as a character so much. Sure, there are a handful of great movies or shows that you can watch and rewatch ad nauseam and games that will suck hundreds of hours out of your life and you’ll thank them for it… but this game is something at a different level, this is a masterwork on every level. It’s slow, even arduous at points, but even the (dare I say it) boredom of some moments have a sweetness and purpose to them that draw you further into the character, the story and the experience. Walk slowly from Van Horne to Valentine one time, just sticking to the road… it’s an hour of your life that will prove the richness of nothing and the purpose of empty space. I cannot praise this game highly enough. I have a tick over 600 hours in this thing and I have just begun yet another play through… loving every minute of it.

I never play modern game this long, i play it almost a year to see and feels all the details, this game is super amazing, all emotion, sad, happy, scared, angry etc, its more like life simulator than just a game

Just bought it and looking forward to playing it. I really like the idea of it, of feeling like you’re literally in a story. I hope someday they write a fantasy story one. I could never get into grand theft auto-and while the Wild West is more interesting to me, it’s still not as interesting as a fantasy adventure. But I haven’t played a Wild West game in forever and I am just really looking forward to the detailed story.

play all the other games which you haven't played before this, cause after rdr2, you wouldn't want to play other games...

It’s crazy but literally right after I bought the game someone tried to break into my house. Anyways, it’s unfortunate but now I’m kind of unable to play the game I just bought and really enjoy it because it’s about robbing people and such. I’m sure in time I’ll get past it. But yeah. I still would love to see a fantasy story-where you’re a hero fighting monsters-that’s this detailed.

Game is 4 years old and yet nothing has come close to the immersion and details

It's crazy. I remember the trailer first came out and I was like "Who is Arthur? F that I want to play as John!". Then I played it and was like "F John, I want my Arthur back!". One of the few games I was invest enough to cry when my Arthur died. 10/10 one of the best games I've played in my life.

Great video keep up the good work!!! And great game when when Arthur lost his horse and Arthur died that’s the only time I ever felt attached to a character in a video game they did such a good job at telling a story.

Best game I ever played. The only one I played for 6 months straight, more than 500 hours just to do it 100%. Hunting all the animals to make all the special clothes took me forever...

first time I play RDR fell in love with it, played the game non-stop for months, even started watching some cowboy movies lol, needless to say RDR2 just won me over, with everything and the character development was just spot on, by far my favorite game, still go back to it from time to time.
