Video Game Remakes. Some are one-to-one faithful recreations that stay true to their original counterparts, like Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64 3D. Others retain the same general framework, but are unafraid to deviate with expanded content, stylistic changes and the introduction of modern game mechanics - think Metroid Zero Mission. Both the safer and more experimental styles have their pros and cons, so one has to wonder: What Makes a Good Remake?

especially cool in HeartGold/SoulSilver were the DLC "Stories" like getting a celebi which time travels you to back so you see a scene were it is shown that Giovanni (Team Rocket boss) is acutally the father of your rival and then you battle Giovanni as well :D

I was very late to the HeartGold/SoulSilver party, so I never had a chance to play through that Celebi event. Definitely gonna watch a video of it, sounds really cool!

@@Fobb the Nintendo DS Events were kinda cool :-D i remember that either i or a collegue at work drove to the Toys'R Us stores to get the event (simply walk in, download and get out) either i or she took all our cartridges and swaped them in the store xD if you have the original games you can still access the events btw. Some really talented hackers made them possible.

I'm always surprised we haven’t had an F-Zero GX port ala Pikmin 1 and 2. Seems a no-brainer. That and that Universal Studios game. I want to pick litter on the go, goddammit.

Bring back F-Zero GX! I have very vague memory of playing the Universal Studios game once as a kid, but can remember pretty much nothing about it. Perhaps that's for the best 😂

Don't fuck up the thing that made the game popular enough to warrant a remake. If the story is good, leave the story. If the art style was good, be gentle on the graphical updates. If the music was good, don't try to remix every track. Fix the camera, controls, or whatever it was that makes the original unplayable.

Every Metroid remake/remaster has been great, and yes we definitely need a remaster of F-Zero GX

It was pretty funny, either last year or the year before, several months apart I said on discord and twitter that 'hey ttyd is coming up on their 20th anniversary yall better do something....... OR ELSE' (I guess it worked, I don't know what I would have done otherwise.)

Ocarina of Time 3D is just a remaster, not a remake. It uses updated code of the N64 versions, like the unofficial PC port. All Grezzo did was just model and texture updates to the original game, minor QoL, but kept literally every other aspect of the game unchanged. Same with MM3D, again Grezzo just updated the N64 code, and didn't build a new game from scratch and full R&D like an actual remake does when 90% of the game work was already done for them.
