Miamis run was truly something to marvel at coming from a Heat fan. We could not figure it out during the regular season and we just rallied together during the finals due to some pick ups in free agency, incredible coaching, and Jimmy G Buckets.

@@lkhguycrazy Doesn't matter. Giannis only missed 2 games and he was there in games 4 and 5 and lost, Heat were blowing the Bucks out before he went down. Also, Heat were up 2-1 against my Knicks even with Quickly healthy. Even, Heat were up 3-0 against the Celtics anyway and Tatum was inconsistent when he was healthy so don't downgrade their run. Injuries are a part of the game.

@gideonamankwah6491 Giannis missing basically 3 games and playing through a BACK injury in the last two is definitely why the Heat won. The Knicks are frauds and dont count as a real playoff team. And the Heat BLEW a 3-0 lead to the Celtics and ONLY won game 7 cuz Tatum got hurt. We know Miami was shot cuz Denver made quick work of them in the finals

So a team that flops constantly. A team that takes out your legs, pulls on your jersey and hooks arms on rebounds, holds you on your post ups and curls and had multiple non called delay of games which helped them get back into their zone. Yeah the Heat suck.

To add to the take about the Heat: imagine looking at the literal story of Cinderella and saying “well her step mothers and step sisters shouldn’t have ever disrespected her and gave her a fair chance.” If that was the case, it becomes a very different and MUCH less interesting story. The story of Cinderella is what it is because all that stuff happened and critiquing it with what “should” have happened is ridiculous. Miami was awful in the reg season and if they played how they did throughout the season, Milwaukee probably packs them up in 5 tops regardless of Giannis’ injury. But they didn’t. Simple

The heat didn't have hero, and Victor had two additional shot creators that would've helped our offense be more flexible and less forced. Jimmy was horrible in that series due to injury, if Jimmy played anything like he did against the knicks or celtics, it automatically goes 6. Game 5 was definitely winnable. So when you have that in mind I can't help that the heat would've won the seires at worse forced game 7.

Facts. They mortgaged their whole future on "winning now". That left their trade assets very bleak. It would've been cool with that, but this team's weaknessess are showing. Losing in 2020, winning in 2021, but that series vs the Nets was rough, it showed their over dependence on Giannis. And then losing in 2022 and 2023. They panicked and went all in fear of losing Giannis, but now their main guys are aging and they have little assets to get younger or significantly better. They're going as far as where this current core takes them, problem is, most contenders got better and better. We'll see.

Actually, you could very well make an argument that like the other pointguards mentioned, Trae Young wasn't great in the postseason either. Sure he was good offensively, which is his strength, but his defense is always a liability, which especially hurts Atlanta in the postseason. I would say that Harden was so-so, varying wildly in consistancy, Young was subpar and Holiday was about equally bad. (in his case offensively) Jalen Brunson though, while carrying more load than in the regular season, still managed to keep them afloat scoring-wise. Even though their games were defensive slogs, the brunt of the offense relied on him for creation or scoring. To add a little side-note to this: The criticism on Randle is valid, but a big part of his efficiency being down was him getting the ball very late in the offensive play, forcing him to create something with too little time on the clock. This mostly resulted in him making an extremely tough, well defended shot. On the plays where he got the ball earlier, the efficiency was much better. He could make a pass for a short roll, cutter or threepoint shooter, or spin away for a much closer midrange, where he was in shooting rhythm. This is to blame on the coach more than anything, maybe a tiny bit on Brunson for putting him in this situation. However this speaks more to the excellence of Brunson, as he was put into the same situation even more and still managed to create more often that not, a good shot.

About this Jaylen Brown situation: The max and superman salaries will be the reason of many problems on teams. It's like a punishment for teams the build good teams and develop great talent. Other think, it's bizarre that Jaylen Brown is eligible to a higher salary than an 2-time-MVP. On the Celtic's case, both Brown and Tatum will be eligible to a Supermax. The two will eat 100-120M from a 135M cap space. These eligibilities are insane and Boston would be forced to get rid of a player that they developed.
@HalfAsianDerp
@HalfAsianDerp Жыл бұрын
They need to add a clause where the salary of talent drafted by their team only counts towards 70% of their cap space. In this example Jaylen is set to earn $59M per year, 70% of that would be just over $43M. This would keep the intended effect of handicapping super teams, while conceding some advantage to teams that can draft and develop talent well.
@HalfAsianDerp
@HalfAsianDerp Жыл бұрын
Thinking about this more, it should, probably be something closer in the 85-95% range given how much that would stack with each player (big market teams that sign rather than draft would be greatly handicapped, whereas small market teams that draft would have massive advantages), but the concept still applies
@rockonileva

In that realm of basketball, and sports, "analysis" anything that is not a ring is considered worthless. People joke about guys like Barkley, but at least he is respected as a great player. Hot TAKE: The Nuggets had an Overrated playoff run, The nuggets played, an 8th seed missing their best wing defender, a 4th seed that played 8 games together missing their primary bull handler, a 7th seed that also was thrown together at the deadline and played almost no games together and another 8th seed that would of lost round 1 with a healthy Giannis but still overachieved greatly. They played the lowest average seeds of any champion ever and context only makes it less impressive. Come at me

@pascaldavid3719 No, but thats primarily the reason why he's nowhere near anybodys top 10. More ever theres something to be said that for any organization let alone one that's held to a higher standard like the Celtics. At some point the fact that you keep making it there is not going to carry the same energy as you coming up short. I agree now is too early. You're one year removed from a finals berth. But two years down the road? Three? I'm sure Danny is not gonna wanna hear that flak for coming up short. And that's only going to happen the more you get the same result. That and jaylen hasn't exactly had a good time so far there so it's not crazy to imagine that bridge not being fixable in the near future.

The Heat had an impressive run but I would agree that it was overblown. For the Bucks series there was the giannis injury, coach Bud choking as usual, the fact that Milwaukee isn't good at defending the three-point line while Miami couldn't miss and Butler going off. The Knicks were never that good to begin with, and you mocked the Celtics enough to know that they choked the first 3 games basically on their own. This is not hating on Miami, it's just facts that are necessary to understand what really happened. I saw some people comparing what Miami did to the 04 Pistons ! There seems to be this idea going around that Miami had really tough competition and it's just not true. The Pistons beat one of the greatest teams of all times with 2 all-time greats in or around their prime. The Heat lost to the first coherently constructed team they met. If people didn't paint the Heat as this massively overperforming underdog, people like me wouldn't have to point these things out and look like haters.

Are we forgetting that Miami played without their second leading scorer for most of the playoffs? A 20 point scorer gone and yet their run was overblown? Milwaukee and Boston were both favored to win and were both high favorites to win the chip and Miami beat them both while shorthanded.

@@kingrodney441 I'm not saying it wasn't impressive. But absurd shooting, injuries and opponents choking did help them quite a bit. The celtics as a whole, Randle, Budenholzer and even Giannis are known for regularly choking.

@@thomaslequesne5475 yet both those teams won 60 games and were both favored to win the series going in. Maybe we should be looking at the state of the NBA if their 2 best teams are overrated. Maybe we should stop picking teams to be favorites and acting like we know what's going to happen before the games start. Maybe the regular season isn't that important if the best teams in the league are as bad as you claim.
@thomaslequesne5475
@thomaslequesne5475 Жыл бұрын
@@kingrodney441 I agree. Also this doesn't mean that those teams are bad, but when your best players or your coach aren't reliable then the team is fragile. Boston has an issue with focus, they will randomly lose games when they're not focused. As for Milwaukee, they struggle immensely with adjustments and Giannis has limited options when he can't drive to the basket at will. The regular season matters but we shouldn't base our opinions solely on that. Some teams always perform better or worse in the playoffs compared to the regular season so their ranking really shouldn't matter all that much.
