That land is owned by the City Council and they've invited tenders for it's development. The criteria that the LCC have outlined for those tenders is that the preference would be for a leisure development that would benefit the local community as well as bringing extra visitors into the Anfield parish. The tender documents stressed that the LCC would not consider a residential development. (that could of course all change if the LCC do not receive any satisfactory 'leisure development' proposals). One other development that has been approved with full planning permission granted is for a 12 unit mini-mall (retail and food outlets) on the small triangle piece of land opposite the club shop at the junction of Venmore Street. The council also announced their plans for the next phase of upgrading Walton Breck road which would involve the demolition of the boarded up properties the Oakfield Road end of Walton Breck road and replace them with more of the brick built road frontage terraced houses they've already built over the last couple of years. There could be a lot of building work taking place on Walton Breck Road over the next three years if all of the LCC's plans come to fruition, just one of the reasons the club announced last year (Q&A with Andy Hughes our stadium managing director) that there were no immediate plans for any expansion of the Kop and that the next phase in the stadium development would almost certainly be an upgrade of the SKD stand to include major renovation of the lounges and concourses as well an exterior face lift and possibly a reconfiguration of the lower tier terracing to provide more space and leg room. No timeframe has been put on that but we'll probably have more details released once it has.

Its like Mr Bean worked on Lpool City council. Big chunk of land spare on the developed side of Anfield. But behind the KD Stand nothing was cleared. Worse still, a load of houses were sold off by LFC for ONE QUID each. Even more, behind the Kop has had new houses built. Houses which look completely unsuitable for the area, don't even remotely enhance it, and do nothing for the overall wellbeing of the area. The surrounds of Anfield are STILL a desert with basically NOTHING there. Joe Anderson, former Evertonian mayor has been booted out. Meanwhile Manc Utd are talking about a new 100k stadium in a public-private partnership. This should be Liverpool's showpiece area. Infact it was Britain's 2nd most Instagrammed location after Big Ben on numerous occasions. Come on LCC, develop 4 sides, get the transport sorted. Clear some breathing space around the ground, and have Anfield as a massive visitor venue throughout the yr, not just 24 matches a season!

Liverpool FC if any sense should buy it and build a bigger museum, LFC themed bar/restaurant and row of shops and rent them out to local businesses and a big function suite that can be used for all kinds of function but also converted into like a huge screening room for like cup finals and big games. Provide extra revenue and loads of jobs and business opportunities for locals with row of shopping outlets and office space above them.

A Time Out market. Somewhere that people can go on match days and non match days alike. Bars, restaurants, cafes. A large central hall. People could go before and after the match, and those without match tickets, could stay there during the match. It could also be used to televise matches, particularly on non home match days. Would primarily be a weekend venue but could open during the week, especially when Liverpool are playing, and of course used for private events too.

I've long since been of the belief that the tendering of the land is purely a process they have to go through before they can offer it to LFC. That'd save face for Liverpool fc and the council. They could say: "we put it out for tender and had no takers". Liverpool then build eateries and a landscaped area for supporters and locals to gather.

it's not massively accurate, but in order to picture an acre, it's about 50 yds by 100 yds (just under) - so if you just imagine a park football pitch is just above an acre, it allows you to picture it (don't come at me about it though, these are rough figures, but useful to be able picture it)

Liverpool should build something that would keep both local people there but bring people from a far.... a genuine tourist attraction. i'm thinking something like a combination of a mini Vegas (with cinema, other entertainment etc) and niche bars, pubs and restaurants similar to Lark Lane; - of course, where Lark lane is near sefton park..this would be next to Stanley Park. so, perhaps with the assistance of the council, doing something in Sefton Park also at the same time just to make it more scenic (in terms of walks).... maybe slightly less football pitch, more forest and trees.....and most certainly a revamp of the area next to Everton (that bit should be so nice, but it's just swarming with flies, i actually hate it, but you can see the potential there to make Stanley park so much more beautiful with just a bit of a make over). - let's make Stanley Park more romantic say... this could all tie in together. Overall, this should give the locals somewhere to go as an alternative to the city centre, it could be seen by others as an alternative night out (or start to a night out), it would increase the value of the locals homes, it would generate jobs for the locals, but Liverpool 'could' even build their own Hotel now without harming the local hotel businesses. (Liverpool and the council upgrading the area/park and bringing people to the area should theoretically just mean increase in demand... tourists would not just require hotels to see Liverpool games. They would have more choice than just the football.

LFC should buy the land and give the shop owners , church and any tenants across from the Kop the chance to move there. Add more restaurants as well. The space gained behind the Kop can then be used to put the building equipment for the Kop expansion . Once completed and all the equipment has gone u can then use the land to build houses on it for the tenants behind the SKD stand . Everyones happy ( tenants bc they dont have to move far, shop owners bc they still profit by being near the ground and LFC bc they will have a magnificent stadium with a better atmosphere and more dosh) . In order to do it we need LCC to build a tramway to the ground and for LFC to buy the 2 plots of land. Easy . Only problem is whether the A road can be closed for the duration of the Kop build . Anyone know if thats possible?? PS u said there would be a 100 jobs created if u put restaurants on that space but how many people will be employed if u rebuild the other 2 stands???? Many more. I know u dont want to upset people but how long are we going to have to wait?. Great idea about something similar to Liverpool one, but to counter that, is the area really going to benefit from it? Why would people go there, other than a match day when they do have Liverpool one with a lot more choice. Example, its risk to reward, what the foot traffic like up at Anfield on a non match day? Does it justify building such a complex? Can't see it myself but then I don't know what the answer is. *Edit -Thinking about it again, its got to be bars and restaurants hasnt it, just makes sense, Its Anfield., of course people are gonna come. Mid week matchdays, televised games for venues with a licence to show games would rake it in, instead of having to go into town. Where would you go to watch Liverpool specifically?. Town or Anfield? Well youd watch the game at a bar next to the ground because thats what us fans would do, its a given, then head into town. Im all for that. Employ well over 100 people there mate

On non match days the footfall is obviously a lot lower, but a lot of people still visit Anfield every day. I think the area could survive on non match days

Best thing they could build there is a multi storey Carpark witch roof top or ground floor restaurants. Could have 1 5 star restaurant and KFC, McDonald’s etc. cafe in the day time. And then come match days thousands of car parking for match days. Or build apartments with the ground floor bring shops or restaurants

Sorry, pubs and restaurants will not be profitable only on Match Day, will a owner make a full profit after taking out wages or rent / lease +plus council tax +vat , water gas electricity Pubs are closing daily. Sadly, it is not profitable anymore. Maybe mixed units, but you take money out shops already in the area😢. Take a walk down country road long to Rice Lane even breck road the sadness of of closed shops and pubs . What could be an idea about pop-up shops on a match day and in the summer? To cater for visitors. Like in containors mini café with chairs and tables.

Disagree with you entirely about the hotel. I think it would be a huge success, always sold out on matchdays & stadium functions plus a steady customer volume with tourists throughout the year.

I don't think a 'Liverpool One' project there is viable, just think about car parking for starters. I think you have to look at what you are looking at, the stadium, that is the jewel is the crown in that area. In my opinion this land should be used to placate the people and businesses and church. The community would remain and not dispersed, dare I say the new builds could even be similar to what residents have now but to 21st century standards. Easy for me to say, but LFC are not leaving and this site could solve a lot of problems for both parties.

When me and Lucas walked around on the Sunday along the fencing on Walton Breck Road there are artists impressions of a leisure area with food stalls etc and what looked like a hotel. Dubai has a lot of those mini shopping areas that are well kitted out to eat and do activities. It definitely does not need shops like a next or river island. Do not build that shit. There is an area in Dubai called LaMer beach. It’s kitted out to look like old buildings. I think they should make it a bit like old Liverpool , nods to things you’d see in the city centre , nods to things from the past. I love going to the city centre but people need to feel like they can visit anfield and not need the city at all. Personally I’d love it all to be LFC themed but it makes better sense for it to just be for everyone who visits and people in the area. Unfortunately it will never really be enough. That space would also be perfect as a car park. I know that’s awful for the area but the ground does need more parking for match days. And as much as the area being regenerated is good the stadium will always be a bigger priority. The other 2 stands will need work in time especially the KOP.
