Do you have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and you're wondering what new treatments are on the horizon? Do you have IBD and your current medications aren't working? If so, this video is for you!
First, lets talk aboit what is wrong with current IBD therapy. Why is it hard to treat IBD and why is it so difficult to cure IBD? Next, lets discuss how present IBD therapies work. Why is it difficult to get symptoms under control?
Let's examine what IBD research is occuring with combiination therapies. Has combination therapy been used in the past? What were the concerns with using combination therapy? What does current data show about combination therapy? Does combination therapy suppress your immune system too much?
Which patients could combination therapy help? Could combination therapy restore the colon and cure IBD?
What other promising data is this research showing? Will we start looking at IBD therapies differently? Could we curtail therapies early on in treatment to maximize results? Could biologic markers help us better distinguish IBS symptoms from IBD? And could simple stool and blood tests helps us determine which therapies are best for each individual patient?

This is very informative and promising. I was diagnosed with mild to moderate UC and still waiting to heal but have accepted things will never be the same again. Thanks for sharing and love how simple and to the point your videos are.

I was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis in 2019. I was put on oral budesonide and it made me worse. When I told my GI doctor, he didn’t suggest another medication. He basically threw up his hands and told me to find another doctor. I am still sick.

Bro, I'm so thankful for the hope you gave me just now. I've been on Stelara for a year now and my inflammation in my fecal calprotectin has went down to 160 from over 1600 on my diagnosis last year. Would you want to combo treat with stelara? And how would I be able to read my immune systems response to the drug in the way you mentioned in the video????

I’m glad this was helpful. Improvement as you describe is substantial such that I don’t think most of us would place your on combo therapy. Some are using a cutoff of 150 to define remission, you’re a smidge above that. Doing a colonoscopy to see how things look would be a likely next step. The things discussed here are based on what we were doing at an academic IBD center and conversation with mentor who are director of IBD research at the companies making these treatments.
