THANK YOU! I just got my tormek a few weeks ago and because of your chisel video was able to get my chisels wicked sharp! But I was having a lot of trouble working on my knives. Used these tips this morning and now it’s easy to sharpen and hone my knives. Thanks so much sedge!

Hello Sir. First of all thank you for all your videos, I keep learning from you all the time. And since I've purchased T-8 recently, I put my little remark here. Just like you I came up with the idea of taking the wheel off for honing a long knife however without it, the entire spindle slipped off its position - check it out, without the wheel nothing holds it. So I did the obvious- I put a length of plastic tube corresponding the width of the stone as a spacer before replacing the locking nut. It keeps the shaft in place. EZ-PZ. All the best!

Todays topic and Lessen is great! Not sure I am confident enough to try this on my Benchmade’s yet. I will need to practice, a lot on lower end blades. Sedge, Big “D” thanks for showing us what is involved. I wanly to learn to “stay sharp”

Hi guys. I’m watching this video again. A friend has a T8 and he has all the diamond stones and the Japanese stone as well as the standard stone. He had a tip for me and I thought I would pass it along. He suggested when using a Tormek for the first time sharpening a knife or tool (and if you are worried about removing to much material or damaging the blade) to use the highest grit of diamond stone or Japanese stone or grade the standard stone to the highest grit and then practice getting your setup right and get your technique down. He said talking to other Tormek users or people who are thinking about getting a Tormek many new or potential users are worried about damaging their blades. He said even current owners who haven’t sharpened with the Tormek in a while would benefit from that tip. Hope this helps someone.

Hi guys. Another fun and educational video. Just an FYI…. I just found out today that their is a new updated small and large knife jig for the Tormek T8. The small knife jig is a KJ-45. Don’t know the large knife jig number. There is also a small knife jig that can be used with the KJ-45 knife jig. Some other T-8 jigs have been recently improved as well.

Keep in mind that you should try to remove even amounts of metal across the whole length of the blade which is difficult to achieve on a Tormek because the middle section of a blade always gets the most contact time. If you are not careful, you will create a concave flat spot over time.

I‘m at 1:02 right now, so I don’t know if you already give an answer to this but I’ll just ask anyway. Is it possible to sharpen bread knives with these machines? If no, how are they even to be sharpened? 🤔
