As ever, I really enjoyed this. I'm one of those people who never burn, and this is due to me having the genetic condition, neurofibromatosis (type one) I don't understand why this is, but it is commonly the case with people who have it. We often are also vitamin D deficient too, from what I understand of it our skin cant absorb certain parts of the sunlight properly; resulting in the deficiency and the lack of sun burn. Neurofibromatosis type one is a mutation of chromosome 17. It can cause a host of problems, i'm long term disabled due to it; but the ability to tan well is a silver lining. Tho we do still have to be careful in the sun as the cancer risk is still there and slightly raised. So only a thin lining on that cloud. Anywhoo, great video :)

I did marching band camp the summers before my freshman and sophomore high years. The first week was always the worst. It was painful from constantly holding up my instrument for long periods of time and my body not being used to the rigorous activity, and no matter how much sunscreen I put on, I always ended up tomato red at least once each season. I ended up with a nice farmer’s tan though. 👍

if you really want your sunburn to go away, add coconut oil on the parts that are burned. not only does it make your sunburn go away quicker, in relieves the pain also.
@SoulSociety2021
@SoulSociety2021 3 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't apply coconut oil to sunburn because it can trap heat on your skin and prolong painful inflammation. Coconut oil isn't an ideal moisturizer because it is too thick to penetrate the skin properly.

I whacked it down my left arm yesterday after being put for an hour and coming back in slightly red. Today, it’s fully brown and the skin on that arm both looks and feels a ton healthier and better moisturised than that on my right arm. Maybe all it did was moisturise the skin (mine is usually a little dry) but either way, I can’t complain.

Hmm, I'm curious about something in regards to the spots I saw on the skin of a person depicted at 3:46 I have a bunch of spots on my skin that look like freckles (my grandmother called them angel kisses), and there used to be a few, starting to appear on my shoulders, and eventually I started seeing them everywhere else. Each year, even in areas that don't see the sun, I would see a new brown spot. Is it due to sun damage on the skin that these freckle-like spots are appearing? Or could it be something else? I've tried to find the answer to this, but I'm still uncertain.

So sites that, after a sun burn, became freckled is that a result of the melanin being altered and left higher than the counter parts?
@Roll587
@Roll587 8 жыл бұрын
I don't remember exactly, but I think freckles are caused by unequal distribution of melanin. Sun exposure activates it in the same way a tan does. I think because people who freckle tend to me very fair, they are still at a high risk of skin cancer regardless of the freckles.

Man all these people with extremely peeled skin from sunburns make me feel blessed that I have so much Dutch heritage. My ancestors worked a lot in the fields and mills. So I have more melanin than my like sisters who have British heritage, and I don't burn often and if I do it usually just mildly hurts, then it becomes a tan. That's why I don't even really have to sunbathe much. I just go outside in the summer, and I tan like crazy.

I’ve never had a sunburn in my life (or at least not that I remember) it’s not that I never go outside. I go outside A LOT in the sun. And I live in the southern parts of the US. I should consider myself lucky, but I also don’t tan easily which is a bummer. Lol

when you use a lotion on your skin that stops pimples from growing on your skin, the lotion also has a side effect where it slows the production of melanin causing you to become more prone to sunburns but at least you won't have to have a different skin color forever
