No one in the UK, especially the BBC,, seems aware of the fact that the home country ALWAYS has the final say of the ambassadors of other countries. "With Trump, the UK can't send who it wants to the U.S. as ambassador!" everyone in UK shrieks on BBC. "We've lost our independence to that bully Trump!" That's not how it works. When any country wants to appoint a new ambassador, it ALWAYS must send the potential nominee's name to the host country for approval before making a formal announcement. In most cases, this is only a formality, but the U.S. had many nominees rejected by Communist countries during the Cold War, and Muslim countries scrutinize any potential Western ambassador nowadays for ties to Israel. So, the hysterical BBC, remainers and civil service potenantes saying Boris will just be a Trump poodle are ignorant that any PM must get the U.S. approval before officially nominating the person. Google it.

For this to happen at a time when BoJo is trying a 'rally around the flag' type message of 'let's be optimistic and Britain can be great again' shows the stark contrast between sound-bites and reality. What did we do when one of ours was shot down? All I can see is wringing of hands and the word 'regrettable'. Pretty much how Chamberlain handled Czechoslovakia. People now can see what Boris does instead of what he says. It's pretty clear that he is quite the opposite of Churchill.

The media trying to pin blame on Johnson for every single thing that happens in the UK is reaching a ludicrous height of hysteria. Isn’t Hunt rather than Johnson the Foreign Secretary? To Answer the question. Boris had NO ROLE. Mr Hunt made a comment on what he would do if he were PM which was arrogant. Boris however said he would not be so presumptuous ( as he is not PM) which was the correct response as Boris is neither PM nor a Minister. So the correct political thing is to say nothing until you have a position that merits a comment, Hunt was arrogant and reckless without knowing any of the facts. The BBC can try all they like to smear Boris, but I think he was correct to wait before making a comment. This again is a politically biased report by the BBC.

The Ambassador's position had become untenable; he had become a blocker to future trade and good relationships with the US. The last thing a new Prime Minister would need, especially one who has a good relationship with Mr Trump, is to retain the current ambassador. Mr Johnson is now 14/1 on to be the new Prime Minister. Why would he give the ambassador his backing if this would work against the country? The Ambassador had to go anyway, his resignation is nothing to do with Mr Johnson. Mr Johnson was just stating the obvious when he refused to back the ambassador. Storm in a teacup, only notable for being another contorted media/political campaign to undermine Brexit and thus democracy.

It is simply remarkable to me that this man is, by most estimates, going to be the next resident of number 10, Downing Street. Having just watched the recent interview Andrew Neil did with Boris Johnson, it is astounding to (apparently) know that he will be the next prime minister. Boris Johnson does not lie per se, but dances around the truth like it would burn him of he landed too close. Although I was glad to see Neil take a no nonsense approach to the interview; curbing Johnson's tangents frequently and reprimanding his obvious pivots. Boris cut his way through the barrage of difficult questions using a figurative axe made completely out of BS. This is a man that gave a foreign country reason to imprison a British woman, however untrue the reason. He sees the Backstop in Brexit negotiations as a hindrance to British freedom. Even though it was conceived as a protection against chaos on a border that not too long ago managed to reach an Agreement that solved it's recent chaotic state. Johnson, as Neil frequently points out, dodges questions that might engender embarrassing or damaging answers by blustering about something or other that props him up as a good leader. From what I can see, the qualities that the human being known as Boris Johnson chooses to showcase in his public appearances are: high-minded standards (however oversimple) as well as childish pettiness, well spoken but vacuous arguments, severe understanding of what he wants and what will serve him to get what he wants, ignorance of rules that would get in his way, and intelligence in service of foolishness. In short; he seems to be an intelligent man that will talk his way out of responsibility. Maybe I'm wrong, I would love to hear from anyone who thinks so. But anyway, I am not a politician, but even a fool could understand that this nonsense vomiting, responsibility shirking, blonde version of everyone's favourite orange skinned ogre is a terrible man to give the responsibility of forming a government to. Maybe I got a bit carried away towards the end there... PS: Sorry that this comment mainly references another video. The comment section of that video is disabled. Cheers if you've read to here.

What kind of nonsense is that? Why blame Trump? Why blame Johnson? Why not blame Darroch? Darroch's own words compromised Darroch. Shouldn't one blame Darroch alone until the leaker is found? Even then one must conclude that Darroch was reckless and went further than needed. PM May said she had every confidence in Darroch. Well and good, but she never said she thought he should stay as UK Ambassador to the US. As Sir Michael said Darroch did the honorable thing by resigning. Why expect Johnson to do what May would not? Who with a scrap of sense would insist on Darroch's staying?

@@str8skeptic Let's look at that question. Of course people should be able to hold views in their private lives. Who argues otherwise? But Darroch's comments were not in private letters to family members; they went via official channels. With me so far? And yes, it was Darroch's bad luck that someone leaked his anti-Trump sentiments, which are still quite fitting. Darroch could have avoided the whole upset with neutral words, which would also less likely have piqued The Daily Mail's interest. But Darroch's actual words assured his compromise as UK Ambassador to the US, if leaked. I hope the leaker is uncovered. He deserves to be skinned alive. What astounds me is all the sobbing then blaming Johnson for not saying Darroch was a super diplomat and should stay. Darroch's words proved an embarrassment to the UK. He then fell on his own sword as he should have. Who of sound mind would encourage him to stay after his compromise? Not even PM May whose remaining time in office is short, said that. Also any person now pursuing the PM-slot is wise for not saying Darroch is just the greatest. Whoever is next PM will have to interact with the US. And not unless we are very lucky, Trump will still be the US President. Darroch seems a great guy, who still has a future.

At the moment we are part of an alliance that allows us to reject chlorinated chicken imports from the US. Not sure about who is being forced to eat badly prepared food, many people voluntarily eat sausage without thinking where that meat comes from (certainly not getting the prime cuts of meat there). We have a huge wealth inequality because property prices have been allowed to triple while wages have stayed stagnant. This is something our own govt had control over. We have many problems to deal with, and once we leave the EU we will become even more dependent on thw goodwill of the USA. Unless you are the strongest predator around there is strength in numbers. We are about to find out where we really stand in the food chain.

I think the big bully still thinks the USA belongs to the Queen and got sent home with rail between the legs. Britain needs to address it's own issues with the Queen and her privy council oh that's right its illegal to question the queen whom has removed freedom of speech from all British subjects to include the Internet. The British monarchy has been exposed for who they really are. Many years have gone by and the Queen still has not answered what she did with the orphans she took on a picnic in Canada one afternoon and never returned about 15 years ago now. Funny thing as people wakeup, get red-pilled as it is now termed, all rabbit holes lead back to the monarchy and the privy council. It hides behind "Corporation's" having new names to replace the old ones as they get discovered. They have infiltrated the USA Government and are more of a danger that any terrorist organization in that most were created/authorized in the first place by the Monarchy who is the military industrial complex. People of the World are waking up to include your own.

@@keithe5549 I don't think our political system is perfect and I also question why we have a hereditary head of state when we live in an age of best person for the job. However, in regards to bullying and sovereignty there is a basic principle that we (the UK) gets to choose our representative and that choice should be respected. It's like the French team football manager telling us they will not play if we select Harry Kane as our striker ... and BoJo (the England manager to-be) says he can't 'presume' when asked if he would select Kane anyway. Whether or not you agree with Kane's scoring abilities, or feel there are other better options, the bottom line is that the England management gets to make that decision. What we have seen here is that Harry Kane has decided to go home because the opposite management have taken the ball away ... and BoJo and co (including Theresa May) are just wringing their hands and using the word 'regrettable' because we all know that that is what will make our nation great again!

Leaked cables , leaked letters , leaked emails etc.... are part and parcel of politics this days . The fact that Sir Kim’s position was unattainable after the leaked cable was pretty obvious and resignation was the only option . Respect and trust had given way to rancor no workable relationship was possible any longer . However that is not the main issue , the main issue is as a country we must stand by our man whom was send by us to do a job for us . The Americans themselves would understand that and expect no less . It is the norm in international relationships between friends . Boris Johnson almost certainly our next PM has given us how a glimpse on how he deals with the EU on Brexit and any future trade deals with the US or China . Capitulation in the first instant then throw some unfortunates under the bus while avoiding any attempt in answering any questions.
