The Republicans revealed themselves as the dominant force in the world. Soon many countries would call themselves "republics." But there are less than ten true Republics in the world today. Most countries are ruled by totalitarian governments with absolute power and no Rule of Law. Their authority to rule is determined by their military. So these governments pour their resources into their military while their society and therefore people remain backwards. The authorities of monarchs or the authority of absolute power still dominate the rest of the world today. While the true Republics continue to surge pass the pretenders.
