Did the Ottoman Empire have a hand in shaping European history? Historically, Christianity and Islam were at opposing ends. But there’s another narrative - one that shows how the Ottoman Empire played a significant role in shaping two of Europe’s most important turning points: the Age of Exploration and the Renaissance.

This is also true of the Ummayad Empire and its legacy state: Al Andalus in Spain. These two instances were perfect examples of Islam and Christianity mixing and creating amazing civilizations.

In short : The Ottomans sieged the city of constantinople, which was very important because it lied on the trade route between europe and eastern states, it was also important because it was the capital of the eastern roman empire and contained many of the greek and roman scholars, which were forced to shift to rome and other europian parts, mostly rome (where the renaissance movement began) also it was the seat of the roman empire and contained many of its historical relics and remains, and these things attracted artists and scholars (and led to the renaissance movement, followed by the reformation movement headed by martin luther). Most importantly Ottomans played a key role in the discovery of the americas because after constantinople fell the trade towards the east was also closed, and led to the geographical exploration and we all know that portuguese explorer christopher columbus founded america when he was trying to find the trade route to India.

Ottoman Empire have to Europe order and above all else stability one can see that the Balkans and much of South Eastern Europe lived in Peace prior to WWI which were caused by British/French/Prussian/Austro-Hungarian/Russian Empires. The Ottoman’s doctrine of equality for all evoked the very essence of the Ottoman Rule one that promoted competence and virtue rather than family/social standing and ethnic/religious prejudices. Many Ottoman Pasha’s were Arabs especially when delegating power on to the various provinces of Ottoman Empire. Ertuğrul the very first founder of Ottoman Empire was a man of Vision and above all of equality for his tribe the Kayì Tribe which in short time dominated the Byzantines and took the entirety of Anatolia from the Black Sea to the Caspian.

We never colonized Europe, as you claimed. We conquered it, but protected the dignity of peoples with their beliefs, languages, faiths and cultures. However, you exploited Africa, Americas and Asia with your unsatisfactory mercantilism and capitalism. If the Ottomans had colonized Europe, then half of Europe would have to speak Turkish and become Muslims now. We remained in Europe 500 years, but changed nothing in cultures and structures of the societies. Your grandfathers occupied Africa, and people there started to speak French, English, Dutch and Portugese in 50 years as well as were forced to be converted into the Catholiscism. Hypocrisy is your character and habit, not of the Turks. Turks are the Sword of God and ruled the half of the civilized world from the Great China Wall to the Inner Europe and the Sahara with peace and justice for centuries. So, read history carefully and just shut up !

Fascinating perspective on the Ottomans and their contribution to European history. The Ottoman certainly had a hand in shaping the Balkans. The ethnic conflicts in the 1990s among the former Yugoslavian states divided along ethnic lines especially along religious lines. The Serbians and their Orthodox Christian heritage with Russia, the Catholics of Croatia (Catholic Poles who were not part of Southern Slavic but rather Western Slavs), and the minority Muslims. The brutality and acts of genocide reminded Europeans of NAZI Germany. The host of this program quotes many academics and their praise of Ottoman influence. What is clear is that a few Western countries went through the Renaissance. The host also carelessly use words like the Ottomans contributed to "science" in the 16th century. The specific process of scientific analysis was not defined until the middle of the 17th century by an Englishman and a Frenchman. Science did not exist in the 16th century. In fact, today most people do not understand the concrete and demanding nature of the scientific process which why mass media make ridiculous claims and most people just go along with it. The Ottoman probably did force the Portuguese and Spanish to search for an ocean route to trade with Asia. As the Ottoman effectively dominated the region where the Silk Road trade passed through. The Ottoman leadership was basically a military leader. His authority to lead is determined by his Janissary Army and Navy and their ability to impose the Ottoman Sultan's will. This is the absolute power of warrior kings that existed throughout the world. The political leaders get their authority from their armed forces. If you do not follow their directions then you will be tortured or executed. As a result, such political leaders only recognize military prowess as their paramount concerns. Everything else including the people they rule are a distant second. By WWI the stagnant nature of the Ottoman Empire became obvious. The Sultan was only concerned with his military. Modern Republics (division of political power through checks and balances) and their democratically elected representatives kept advancing forward and had surpassed the stagnant and backward societies of Monarchy. During WWI we see the Ottoman, Austrian, German, Russian monarchies defeated and removed from power. France had shed the royalists after their embarrassing defeat to Bismarck and the Prussian Army in 1871. Great Britain had limited its monarchy with a constitution since the late 17th century. The British monarchy reigned but did not rule. By WWI the British Parliament ruled the UK and the populous elected the members of Parliament. The Americans (first Republicans in human history) enter the conflict late in WWI, and would emerge as the most developed and industrialized country in the world. The Republicans revealed themselves as the dominant force in the world. Soon many countries would call themselves "republics." But there are less than ten true Republics in the world today. Most countries are ruled by totalitarian governments with absolute power and no Rule of Law. Their authority to rule is determined by their military. So these governments pour their resources into their military while their society and therefore people remain backwards. The authorities of monarchs or the authority of absolute power still dominate the rest of the world today. While the true Republics continue to surge pass the pretenders.

It is safe to say that when the Ottoman flame faded the rest of the orders of Europe fell with them. Today what we see is but a pale reflection of what used to be Imperial civilization. In fact real civilization is not to be found in choice itself but the ethics and wisdom that guides those choices. Otherwise it is a mere illusion of choice that is orchestrated by those with money and vested interest.

It wasn’t Mehmet whom Rasulullah (S) praised but Imam Mahdi (A) who shall conquer Constantinople in the end times. They [the Muslims] will then fight and a third of the army would run away, whom Allah will never forgive. A third which would be constituted of excellent martyrs in Allah’s eye, would be killed, and the third who would never be put to trial would win and they would be conquerors of Constantinople’ [Sahih Muslim] ‘The great Malhamah, the conquest of Constantinople, and the coming of the Dajjal occur in (the span of) seven months.’ [al Tirmidhi, abu Dawud] ‘They will conquer Constantinople with Tasbih and Takbir and will acquire such spoils of war as has never been seen before.’ [Ibn Majah] It is clear that these prophesies don't match that of the Ottoman invasion of Constantinople.
@sarahkareem1251
@sarahkareem1251 10 ай бұрын
The most famous Islamic contemporary scholars and the historians who lived during the time of the conquest of Constantinople such as Al-Suyuti, Al-Sakhawi, Ibn Al-Imad mentioned about the Ottoman commander Mehmet Fatih in their books describing his conquests, but they never associated him with Prophet Mohammed’s (peace be upon him) prophecies about the conquest of Constantinople. The Hadith scholars like Imam Abu Dawood - author of Sunan, Imam Ahmad - author of Musnad Ahmad, and Imam Ibn Majah mentioned the reason for the conquest of Constantinople, that is-first the Muslims and Romans will make a strong alliance to fight a third enemy, then the Romans will betray, which will lead to the fierce fight between Muslims and the Romans at a place called Al-Ghouta, that will eventually lead to Al-Malhamah and the conquest of Constantinople.
