What's behind the surge in kidnappings in Nigeria? DW News

If you look to Nigeria in these days, you see a nation that is troubled - a country that seems to be suffering a twin curse: Prosperity has deserted it, and citizens are not safe as they go about whatever business they may still have.
Security and a means to make an honest living were key promises made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the campaign trail before he took office last May.
Less than a year later, his administration is overseeing an economy that's in tatters and a currency that has slid against the dollar, pushing the cost of imports up.
The one thing Nigeria has plenty of is the so-called bandits: criminal kidnappers by any other name. They struck again last week, seizing almost three hundred children and staff in the town of Kuriga in the troubled north. For the release of their captives, they're demanding one billion naira.

Northern Nigeria is the epic centre of commotion, pandemonium, that space of land is ungovernable. in actual fact is mere zoo, the leadership in that part of the country are there to cash in while people there are struggling for survival with basic amenities, no road,no water, no electricity, no security. Since Nigeria attained independence the leadership of the country (president) have been mostly from Northern part but because they are dictators and there for personal gains rather than serving the people, they’ve succeeded in turning that space to poverty island. What a shame ! they are all good in using religion to delude their people

Its a rich island of people, sounds like you don't have a Nigerian Prince Boyfriend online to remind you how hard everyone is working at business and economics opportunities with strong morals and values that make it hard to find a suitable bride, they are all taken, and he is on his way here as soon as I can share my bank acct info for a quick couple of transfers, its not a big deal because we are in love.

Bola Tinubu doesn't not know what he is doing. Unfortunately, the people too are complicit, when elections come, tribalism and corruption always blind the people's eyes, and this is always the result, things go from bad to worse. We pray our Lord Jesus to help us use our brains for once.

I’m just speculating but maybe it’s because they don’t have the same footprint as a 400k army does so they don’t pop up in a satellite scan. To identify small targets it’s best to use drones, in my country we use them to spot wildfire starters.

Not only APC, we must shun politics. It is not workable in Nigeria, else we device a diachical arrangement with people participating in governance of impeccable characters. Brainwashing or conditioning the electorate to that, is necessary. Let anybody whom we feel is good be at the helms, and not minding religion, creed tribe, or section. Just a true Nigerian.

Yet in Nigeria, soldiers will desert those north east and north west states where the Fulanis are killing, maiming and kidnapping and flood the south Eastern part of Nigeria where they commit all sorts of atrocities while the world looks away. Igbos are endangered in Nigeria and no one seems to be concerned. The Biafra song in the lips of every Igbo man is because of long neglect and deprivation of people of Igbo by the Nigeria state. Igbos want independence and freedom from the hawks and jackals that have underdeveloped the country through tribalism and ethnicity.
