What’s going on with Gandalf the green? Why we’re not in Ruidoso, New Mexico & who won the Model A

We are rushing to finish Gandalf the green, we have less time than we thought till it goes on its journey…2 days left and it’s really hot out making things harder to do than necessary, see what we accomplished today!
We were supposed to be in Ruidoso, New Mexico all this week for the MAFCA convention, we’ll tell you what happened and one lucky person won the 1928 Ford Model A, we’ll tell you more about that also, then we’ll go for a drive in Gandalf!

I have s soft spot for Gandalf the green. Early on in your videos, you mentioned that you saved if from being turned into a hot rod. When I purchased my 40, almost 50 years ago, I was told that another person wanted it to turn it into a hot-rod. I so much prefer to see these beautiful automobiles in stock/correct condition. Gandalf is a beautiful Model A. Great video!

I want to congratulate Dorothy on her winning the 1928 Ford Model A, good luck with it. You really have Gandalf spiffed up like the stately gentleman he is, great job. Thanks for the sweet ride along, love the scenery out there. You and Paul are great people, I love how you both care for others well being, thanks for all you two do. No A/C, no wind wings🤣. Prayers and blessings for NM but good news, Ruidoso fires are now 77% contained; all zones are now open to residents. All 29 people who had been unaccounted for after New Mexico fires have been found. 👍

There’s something about Gandalf I like, looks great and a solid driver. Maintain and drive it, perfect Model A in the garage. You both looked hot out there, RC cola hits the spot. Funny story, recently found a RC bottle inside a wall that we are removing from our home. The house was built in 73 and I’m sure the person that left it thought it would always be there. Hi Friends! Natural disasters are probably the worst. MORE Prayers for everyone in NM with those horrible fires. We are in hurricane season here in the south, and there is a potential of a storm coming up soon. Tina, if I could move as fast as you, my dailiy driver might just look almost as good as Gandolf! That spray stuff sure is pretty sweet! Will have to get some of that! Have a GREAT week! (YOU too Paul!)

Just a quick question about seat belts, don’t think I’ve heard you mention them, all states have that buckle up it’s the law, yet I don’t see seat belts in Gandaft, is there a grandfather clause that allows you to not have them?

Hi, most of our Model A’s have seat belts even my Roadster, but Gandalf didn’t come with any and we will not be installing them, it will be up to the new owner to do that if they need to or wish to. In CA anyway, the older cars are grandfathered in, so no seat belts are required. We have friends that have a Roadster type A and one day they got in a wreck and rolled down a hill, what saved them was they were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the car which saved their lives with very minimal injuries…if they had been seat belted in, they would have died. You never know, you can only do your best to stay safe and hope it’s enough.

In Indiana , if it didn't have them from the factory they're grandfathered in . I had an ISP officer suggest that I add them to my '30 Bantam , I just looked at him , and asked " how am I going to get thrown out of this thing ? " After watching us get in the thing , he had to admit that we were wearing the little fella .

Sorry we had the fires here and wish you all would have been able to come. 2 dead and everyone else accounted for. Over 1500 structures lost.

Thank you so much for this update, I’m so grateful the others are accounted for 🙏💕 I hope that you weren’t impacted by this fire 🙏 We had a major fire in our town back in September 2004, we had only been living in our home for 8 -9 months, we lost 3 homes on our street and almost 30 homes in our tiny town, we were lucky as we only had cement, rocks and dirt surrounding our home…the 2 story home directly across the street from us burned to the ground and was sending burning ambers onto our property, so scary, but one other great thing is Paul thought ahead and the walls of our home are hardyboard, so at least fire resistant.
