Chin State is named after the Chin people, an ethnic group native to both Chin State and neighboring Rakhine State. The region is largely mountainous and sparsely populated, with limited transportation infrastructure and low levels of economic development. According to a 2017 report, Chin State has Myanmar's highest poverty rate at 58%. The 2014 Myanmar Census indicates that Christians make up 91.5% of the state's population.
After Burma gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1948, the Chin Hills Special Division was established with its capital at Falam, which later moved to Hakha.
Following the February 2021 coup in Myanmar, civilian militias emerged nationwide to oppose the junta and protect local areas. In Chin State, the Chin National Army (CNA) and the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) were active, but struggled to effectively protect Chin townships. This led to the formation of the Chinland Defense Force (CDF) on April 4, 2021.

In response to comments from ZRA supporters, we have removed the part about the ZRA working under the proxy command of the SAC. Since the ZRA claims a non-aggressive policy and states they are merely defending their territory, it seems fair to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially given the support from the local Zo people. Kuki or KNA-B is now attacking zomi or ZRA group to control the land ...n even kuki people started fighting with another largest etnic group of Manipur,India ,having with longest history of revolutionary movement like PLA,UNLF,PREEPAK,KYKL even with NSCN IM etc....so better choose your friends wisely pro democratic group like chin or pdf ...never friend with kuki they will surely betrayed you at the end if any opportunity come ..it was know from ages right from king period to British era and recorded ...as kuki are betrayer 😂😂😂

The ZRA and the Junta have never had a coalition but rather stayed put in their area of operation. The CNA/CDF however,in attempt to win the public and the world's support propagated false and baseless accusations stating that the ZRA has made ties with the Junta and launched an offensive attack on the ZRA's operational areas in aims to take over the ZOMI dominated areas.

It wasn't CNA alone. PDF-Zoland, CDF-Tedim, CDF-Tonzang, Zomi Federal Union, CDM-Siyin all took part in it because ZRA was useless. Zomi people are brave and freedom loving and ZRAs attitude was unbearable for them.

Its like Balkanization to me, each ethnic group in certain area established their own state and arming their people. its similar the Yugoslavia in early 90's. if this continues, the Burma/Myanmar would be extinct like Yugoslavia. hope the Burma/Myanmar can stop the political turmoil, establish new peaceful and unified government for its own good

Sources from the local populace informed that town like Tonzang, Tedim, etc, inhabited by the Zomi ethnic groups may be burnt down by the Chin - CNA/CNF and its supporter. There was no such brutal incidents of burning & devastating houses happened to these villages in the past, even under the Junta. This can be further verified with the villagers
