Hey guys, today I am showing you all what is in my nurse work bag, aside from the basics (stethescope, trauma shears, and pen light). I may be adding a couple more items in, but so far this is what I will be taking with me to work. If you have any other recommendations please leave them down below!!

I just started watching your videos and I am a junior in high school having multiple options of what I want to do and not knowing which specific field I want to go into. You have been very inspiring and your study tips and general knowledge overall has been super beneficial for me! Yay! Congrats! 🎉 a few things I’d recommend to throw in your bag are some regular hair ties/scrunchies, hand lotion, and a couple of sharpie. At least, these are some things that I frequently use.

Not a nurse but longtime medical professional- add large safety pins to the bag you’ll have your medical supplies in, and of course a handheld pulse oximeter. The safety pins are wonderful for pinning drains to patients’ gowns while mobilizing, to keep slack in the line and avoid pulling (just ALWAYS remember to unpin when done!). Put your initials on your pulse ox and anything else that can be accidentally stolen by forgetful PTs. ;) Congratulations on the NCLEX! My daughter will begin pre-nursing next year and she’s so excited.

Having a clipboard especially a foldable one is a life saver when you are new because you are writing down so many things and to maintain HIPPA the foldable ones make it easiest to hide patient information! They have so many affordable options on Amazon(~: CONGRATS on passing the NCLEX and landing your first nursing job!!

Congratulations on passing your NCLEX and good luck with your internship/career! (: For the mouthwash, if you see them around you they have mouthwash tablets (I think Listerine is the brand I’ve used) now where you just chew them after eating and I actually find them really refreshing! I also recommend a cooling stick (Elf and Physician’s Formula both have good ones) if you want an alternative to the big bag of makeup wipes. Good luck!

Congrats and hope you’re enjoying your residency. A quick suggestion regarding your skin care. Transfer all liquids/moisturizers, etc to a squeeze-type or pump bottle so you don’t have to dip your fingers into a jar repeatedly to a put product on your face. No matter how hard you wash your hands, there’s always the risk of contaminating your products and then rubbing it all over your face. Just a thought.

Congratulations on passing your nclex. My clinical instructor said when she became a new nurse she had a Mosby pocket guide to help her with head to toe assessment. What department will you be working in?
