What's in Washington's Newest Ukraine Arms Package?

Update on the conflict in Ukraine for April 28, 2024…
- US announces that it has secretly transferred long-range ATACMS to Ukraine recently, ahead of the more recent arms package;
- Fewer ATACMS are available to Ukraine than Russia’s Iskander equivalent which also has a longer range than ATACMS;
- The ATACMS along with the weapons and ammunition sent to Ukraine as part of the recent arms package are not war-winning capabilities, lacking the full combined arms capabilities Russia possesses as well as qualitative and quantitative disadvantages;
- Meanwhile, on the battlefield, Russia forces continue advancing particularly in the Donbass region as exhausted Ukrainian forces continue withdrawing along the front;
- While the collective West struggles to arm Ukraine, Ukraine itself is suffering from an increasing manpower crisis. Even if it was able to recruit a large enough quantity of manpower, it does not have the time or resources to properly train and arms them;
- It must be remembered that while Ukrainian military capabilities diminish, Russian capabilities continue to expand;

Amer1ca/"the west" cant touch Russ1an or Ch1nese power, it astounds me that they believe they would even ever have a chance in a total war (with the puny industrial base, and current configuration of western armed forces). They lack the numbers, and increasingly the quality as well. Ch1na & Russ1a not only have their older and incredibly highly upgraded wpns, they're also cranking out new designs of completely new platforms like its going out of style.

I was 11 hotel mechanized infantry in the US ARMY in the 1990’s operating the BGM-71 TOW missile and the twin mounted M-901 IFV now retired replaced by the M2 Bradley that was designed for the M1-A1 and A2 Abrahm tanks now used mainly for 19 Delta Cavalry Scouts which I also were in 2003 during OIF/OEF. The TOWS are old and outdated first made in Vietnam. The AT-4 is early 1990’s light anti armor not design for taking out heavy tanks. The Javelin which replaced the bigger dragon was early 2000. We never tested these on Russian tanks. We were using them for counter insurgency which Rumsfeld turned the DOD strategy in 2006 from Cold War to combat teams. I served in the Cold War in early 80’s. Our military have downsized for counter insurgency not PEER TO PEER wars. The weapons systems the US military uses is NOT PEER TO PEER military anymore. The contractors do not care about survival in the west especially the USA but profit. The NATO strategy is insane. My last mission was NATO 2009. What a joke the US military and NATO is. They are committing suicide attempting to fight superpowers like Russia and China who is superior to them in every way. USA AND NATO places LGBTQI and sexual harassment over combat training. If you believe the US GOVERNMENT, EU and their media YOU NEED YOUR BRAIN CHECKED. Thanks BRIAN for your truthful journalism. me ( combat disabled pissed off 11 bravo/19 delta US ARMY)

Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity. In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas. If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy. Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements. Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time. Russia's national security was compromised once nato began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining nato was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns. 20th September, 2021. Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO. NATO is not a defensive alliance. Nato illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the U.N. Charter). We should never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. Who blew up the pipeline causing an environmental disaster? Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest. Zelensky tried to invoke article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland. Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. Poroshenko said, “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens-theirs will hide in the basements”. Russians will never forget the 2014 Odessa massacre. The whole world needs to know about it. Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine's negotiating team during the peace negotiations. He wanted to help his country. Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. 13 year old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list. Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian writer and journalist) are on this list. There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have been indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas (they used petal mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence). The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present. Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave. Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) RIP. The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims). The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter. I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have stated a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion. I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written. Hopefully someone will write an UNBIASED book, stating facts and allowing the readers to form their own judgments. Everything I said can be fact checked and verified.

ATACMS is a slower missile than the huge amount of Tochka-U Ukraine had in the beginning so it is easier to shoot down. On the other hand ATACMS is a bit more accurate and longer range. It is apparent Ukraine has only enough of ATACMS to attack a single target at a time, usually they pick a target in Crimea and can attack in intervals of 1 or 2 weeks, while Russia can attack many targets in Ukraine every day, quite successfully.

attaching american missiles to soviet launchers is kinda crazy. it's a completely different tech, even if they adopted guidance protocol, it is a radio, so it's possible, but buk launchers were designed for a specific missile. it's not like you can put any bullet in your gun, pull the trigger and it will fire anyway. it might also blow up in your face, or they might down another boeing.

An excerpt : By the fall of last year, Khortitsa, which at the end of the 2022 was considered the largest military formation among the 4 main formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (240-260 thousand people), lost 150 thousand in just one year. As a result, all the main units, I emphasize, the best that remain at Khortytsya now, concentrated for the defense of Chasov Yar - one at a time, and the majority have already been completely reorganized twice. That is, they were completely destroyed once or twice. But let's take a closer look at them, as this in itself is very interesting. In first place is the supporting and most combat-ready 93rd brigade “Kholodny Yar”. Almost a division in numbers. In two years it was destroyed twice. It is interesting that the “Kholodnye” were considered the most combat-ready, because they fought mainly with the best captured Russian equipment. These are primarily T-72, T-80 and even a few T-90 tanks. And also the best thing the Ukrops had - the T-64 Bulat. The “Kholodnye” were the favorites of the Americans, and, for example, during the autumn-summer campaign of 22, some units were directly led by American officers. True, when the Artyomovskaya meat grinder began, they quickly fled. In second place is the 46th airmobile (airborne) brigade, trained by the British in England, which, by the way, is the most unshabby - it was only reformed once. Next is the 92nd Air Assault Brigade (twice destroyed). These are generally suicide troops. Like the 110th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Avdeevka. They distinguished themselves by carrying out a massacre of our prisoners together with the Kraken battalion in the village of Novoselovskoye near Svatovo in the fall of the 22nd. Then 16 fighters of the Lugansk militia (now the same 4th brigade) died as martyrs. They put bags over their heads and suffocated them. Oh, what will happen when the Luhansk people reach 92nd. smoothiex12.blogspot.com/2024/04/they-went-to-hunt-for-glory.html

With thermals it is actually the reflecting mirror that is the cost as it has to be a gold film for effective SWIR reflection. No other material works as well. However the James Webb space telescope with its massive gold coated mirror still only used tens of grand of gold not millions. You can buy a good enough thermal camera for drone work for about 50$ these days.

The Australian government has just given Ukraine another $100 Million that they can siphon off into their own personal bank accounts. Australia has officially broken the $1 Billion threshold of funding and military support to Ukraine.

That gels with the anti-Russia sentiment in the general public, possibly leftover from the MH17 disaster. I don't think the government will get any criticism on this one.

I wonder if some of the reasons for the quality problems at Boeing is a combination of covid lock downs and defense manufacturers hiring what's left of the talent pool, making hiring by civilian industries impossible. It is also interesting that they closed down Stinger production and product development. Instead of upgrading the product, they are trying to find out how stuff was made in the 1980s.
@ramrod9556
@ramrod9556 Ай бұрын
The Stinger story smells like a fake to me and is just a ploy to be able to charge much more money for the same unit. There have to be blueprints and manufacturing tool requirements in the file cabinets. You can be sure that if China or Russia needed to spin up production of a 50 year old weapon system, they would the production line up and running within a month.

The biggest problem for me of using interceptor missiles against glide bombs is that probably you'll buy 3 or 4 glide bombs for the price of 1 interceptor missile.

Given that Ukraine is running out of trained combat troops, it would be useful to get some idea of the trained combat troops in each NATO country. I am pretty sure that Turkey has the largest army in NATO but how many of these are combat troops. The US must be next but again how many combat troops. My guess is that leaving out Turkey and the US, the rest of NATO would be limited in comparison to the troops currently employed in Ukraine. It would be quite good to see such an analysis from you.

Britain only has roughly 15,000 combat troops out of an army of 84,000. They would last roughly 15 days in Ukraine.
