What's Inside a Rattlesnake Rattle?

In this video, we find out what's inside a rattlesnake rattle to learn how rattlesnakes make noise. I thought they made noise like maracas, and have little bits inside of them that knock around, but I was wrong. Instead, rattlesnake rattles are composed of a number of different segments that nest together.

@@Lobod287 The theory of evolution is nonsense. If the process of evolution has continued for millions of years, why are there not millions of intermediate fossils found underground? The fossils of all living things are complete. It is not incomplete. And the theory of evolution cannot explain how the first living organism emerged from inanimate matter. Evolution is a fairy tale without any scientific proof. Unconscious coincidences cannot provide living things with what they need. The Cambrian explosion proves that living things appeared all at once without any evolution. Even though this snake's rattle is complex, could it not be complex itself? After scientists saw the complexity in living things, they started inventing gods like "mother nature" or "aliens". Allah Almighty is the only creator. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

@@motherlandmars5999 It’s strange how the Muslim religion didn’t start until almost 300 years AFTER Jesus Christ died once and for ALL Mankind. Then 3 days later He arose from the dead. Allah NEVER died or sacrificed himself for Anyone. But if you don’t believe like a Muslim then you wacko’s can kill that person, which makes your religion a religion of HATE and not Love. It’s also just like Communism where there is No freedom to choose. What woman would ever choose to have her clitoris cut off so she doesn’t enjoy sexual relation with her husband? After all, God created a woman’s body to be perfect. And what woman wants to be killed if she is Raped? It’s not her fault that some Infidel decides to rape her. Why would anyone want to serve a god who Hates instead of Loves? Who wants to serve a god that demands that everyone bows down to him so that their freedoms are taken away? In 1956 the Supreme Court ruled that the Muslim religion is not allowed in the USA because it takes away the freedom of the people

So that's why gopher snakes sound like that, theyre mimicking a the sound of the rattle. Cool. The only actual rattlesnake I ran into was really young and didnt have a full on rattle so ive never heard the sound in person, and just kinda assumed the movie rattling sound was accurate. Still, even if I didnt know what its supposed to sound like, all the gopher snakes ive had to evict form did thoroughly intimidate me with the sound. But theyre easier to grab when theyre trying to scare you though lol.

My grandparents lived on a ranch, when I was a child, and I used to spend every summer with them there. They had a fairly large blue ceramic jar filled with rattlesnake rattles. My grandparents had killed them all, and cut their rattles off. I would sit and play with them, for hours, over the summers.

That clip was interesting and informative, well done all around. It had a very Mr. Rogers like presentation to it in every way and I do not mean that negatively. It was nice in a somewhat retrospective sort of way. And Mr. Rogers was just plain cool.
