I'm also studying the laws of the game. Started at the beginning of the year and would like to take part in amateur level linesmen to learn more

Depending where you live join your local Referee society who can put you on a referee course. Failing that go to worldrugby.com where you can read the law book to your hearts content then take a laws exam at the end.

Shameful refereeing in the match Scotland vs. Japan, notably the first half, when Japan were still in the game. He might as well have worn a kilt.
