I have no idea why I like this game so much, but I just do! The atmosphere, sound track, monster designs...it's just way ahead of it's time, and absolutely begging for a remake! Any other games like this you'd like to see on the channel?

One of the most underrated horror games ever, why doesnt anybody remember this game?

There actually was a remake/remaster announcement a few years ago. I forget the team that picked it up, but they were a small, indie horror studio that had to shelve the project because they didn't have the resources to properly make it. I really hope that someday we can get a remaster/remake.

Loved this game the few times I played it. In regards to what the side bar is; if I'm remembering the lore of the game correctly, Crowley has flooded the world with a gas that turns people into monsters. That side bar is your adrenaline, and keeping it going is the only way to fight off the gas. Killing monsters spikes your adrenaline and refills the bar. It's basically the movie Crank if it were a horror and Jason Statham were a badass monk.

I never knew there was a pc version. I always played the ps1 version that i rented. As a kid I absolutely loved that it was an action game with horror themes like Doom or Splatter House. I feel like there should be more games with horror theming without being powerless.

It's probably hard for younger gamers to wrap their heads around, but as a kid in the 90s, before a new PS1 or N64 game came out, there would be a buildup of anticipation from reading the articles and advertisements in the game magazines (with plastic wrapping over them) and eventually playing the demos that would be provided on demo discs (which is where I got my first taste of this game) before FINALLY playing the actual game itself, which was often a social event as several friends would gather at someone's house after talking that person's parents into driving us to Blockbuster to rent it (God, it makes me feel old to write those words.) No matter how good of a TV you may have played this on, it was still severely constrained by the graphical limitations of the time, but your own imagination - fueled by the aforementioned hype buildup - would fill in the gaps. Back then, I truly felt I was venturing into the fog of 19th-century London every time I played this game.

Just FYI, Spitalfields is a district of East London, most famous as one of the haunts Jack the Ripper liked to frequent.

One of my favorite game from my childhood. The soundtrack was a masterpiece.

This is one of the first game I ever remember playing as a kid on my uncle's windows 95 pc It was a demo and I remember I couldn't even get past the first level. It's still such a cool game and has aged really well unlike most other ps1 games. I replayed it on a ps1 emulator on my phone. I'll be really happy if they bring back this franchise with a Remake or something.

Played this at a friend's house back in the day and he insisted that Ignatius was the better character. Then proceeded to get to the third level (two more than him) with Nadia. Good times.

The commercial for this game, even though it wasn't that (or at all) scary, probably contributed to one of the most vivid and terrifying nightmares I've ever had. 20 years later I can still remember it

I loved this one when it came out. If I remember correctly, it was one of the first games you could use the dual analog sticks for. I bought the new dual analog controller the same day when I got this!

That blue bar that is constantly draining is your "Adrenaline Meter" and killing monsters will refill it.I don't remember the story reason, but if that drains your character has a heart attack and dies.

I remember this game coming out. The gothic horror third person action game hadn't been explored much at this point, and I remember loving the concept and setting when this was released. I was always curious in regards to what happened to the franchise, because it appeared financially successful, and they were even talking about a movie at one point (which sadly never went into production). Video game magazines at the time (remember those?) just whinged about how it wasn't as good as Resident Evil, which was kind of missing the point. And for the record "Ignatius" is pronounced "Ig-nay-shus". Coincidentally around the time this game was released I had the pronunciation of this name beaten into me. Not that you'll actually need to know that outside of playing this game, but hey, now you know.

oh man, this was the first horror game I ever played/fell in love with. When you went back through the door behind you after remembering the pickup behind there I went right back to being 11 and having my mind blown. Thanks pal!

The part at the beginning where the werewolf jumps out of the door literally made me unable to sleep for 3 days as a child.

For the longest time I used to only have the demo and I would play it over and over. When I finally got a used ps1 late in its life cycle. I got the full game. It ws my favorite game. I never blocked and everyone dies.

Fuck I loved this game so much! I never brought it for the PS1 but I remember renting it after playing the demo on the PlayStation underground demo disc for holiday 97(anyone remember that?) And I was already at that time(I was 11 then) a huge fan of horror films. I just loved how visceral it was. I did like nightmare creatures 2 as well but it just did not flow as well as this game did. I also think a wha happen could be Done for this series. Especially when the developers got in trouble before they went under. The first game I also think did have a turbulent production

I never played it but it seems cool that monsters appear from hidden places and caught you off guard, most people would complain nowadays though

N64 version is more eerie due to the fact that it doesn’t have any cuts scenes. Just screeching from creatures and black screens with a spooky OST

Blast from the past. Played the demo a ton (mainly because the only other thing on that disc worth playing was the Net Yaroze Pac-Man rip off), didn't get around to playing the full game until the PS2 was a thing. The badguy is ridiculously cool looking when you're an edgy kid.

I remember Nightmare Creatures 2 the design of the protagonist was great, the atmosphere was awesome.

Few games were advertised like this one was. You couldn’t open a gaming magazine without seeing 10 ads. The commercial was cool too. I guess the marketing team just did a fantastic job. Pre-internet, everyone still knew about those creatures

Matt please come back to this series! Especially a what happun, I need to know what happened to this series, it's my favorite childhood game. And some advice on the platforming but, holding block allows you to make slow, controlled movements. You'll walk slowly forward and backwards, and pressing the side dodge buttons will have you move slowly to the side. That's how you position yourself for the jumps without yeeting yourself into oblivion

what a blast from the past. I remember this game. I remember this on the PS1 and it used to scare me a lot since I was young.

Wow. I'm on some kind of pulse. Just went and watched a playthrough of this and re-read the instruction manual. All of a sudden, it's making a little Halloween comeback on some channels. I think I always enjoyed the idea of this game more than the gameplay. Yes, the atmosphere was awesome. The idea of running around London streets, hacking up monsters and demons was truly cool for an old-school monster movie fan.

This game hit me at just the right time, when I was bridging into more "Fantasy" elements, but still was discovering more appreciation for Horror... and LOVING brawlers eternally. I would give anything for a revival of the Nightmare Creatures IP!

My friend had this for his PSX and I played it a ton there. I had an N64 and if I remember correctly the version for that didn't come out until much later. Would love to see a full LP of this, you're already further than I had ever seen.

I remember buying Night Creatures 2 off a discount bin for $5 for the dreamcast, one of my fav childhood games.

I was not a fan of playing Resident Evil, but this gave me a horror-action fix back in the day. I am kinda surprised no one has snatched up the IP to do a remaster or something. We've seen stranger things come back out of nowhere.

I remember having a demo of this on the family pc like 20 something years ago. Ran at like 15 fps and I honestly thought that was the normal speed until a few years ago when I saw it running on a ps1 :D

I loved it when it came out on PC. I think mine could barely run it, but it was a fun romp.

I also played this on N64 in like 98 or 99 or something? Ended up getting a used copy from the local rental store. Loved it!

I remember really liking the first half of this game. I also remember the difficulty ramping up to the point of frustration because you had a limited amount of lives. Also holy crap the VA for Crowley in this game is the same guy who voiced Emet Selch in Final Fantasy XIV. So weird to hear that voice in two games that are were made SO far apart.

I have only very vague memories of this game but I do remember the sewer level scaring the shit out of me as a kid. Though that was probably because the giant Dianoga in the sewer level from Shadows of the Empire fucking traumatized me as a kid and gave me an irrational fear of water in games and giant creatures in water that persists roughly 2 decades later

Nightmare Creatures is the only game of the N64 era I still replay to this day. It was Bloodborne before Bloodborne.

I remember renting this on, I want to say, PS1? It was so unwieldy, unforgiving, and difficult, I remember returning it like, the next day and never looking back.

A old uk magazine reviewed the game and it got a 2/5 but for one of the few times i remember for that gen ...they took the game back into development for a few more months and made the game better
