Despite the cost, I have the Rondo Ruut CF 1 since two years now and I've done My first gravel event on it. I have to say that this bike is killing it. It's responsive, confy and nice looking. I even use it for road riding without any compromise

Great review. I bought the BMC, stripped it completely and built it with Ekar & G23 wheels to make my dream gravel bike.

I recently purchased the Canyon Grizl CF SL 7 with the dropper post. I’m fortunate to live in San Diego and very near the Canyon US HQ. I was able to try the range of bikes and really like what they offer with an Aluminum frames Grizl, 2 types of carbon, suspension post, dropper and front suspension. there also is the Grail which just offers more choices for the more road focused riders, which is great. As a taller rider just over 200 lbs i felt the dropper post would offer a ton of benefit to eliminate the awkwardness and potential spills in the long fast sandy sweepers and techy steep terrain and it does. Absolutely love it. I’m not getting hung up in any particular terrain as the tester experienced I’m rolling through it all with ease. I will be upgrading the gearing to an XT cassette to get an 11-46 at a reasonable cost and ordered a Rear Mech cage extender and pulley wheels from a company in Poland call Garbaruk. I plan to create and post that upgrade on my channel that I’m about to launch for those interested in that upgrade. I haven’t been able to justify the Rock Shox Rudy yet , however it may be too fun a proposition to resist……tune in to find out ……

I’ve put 6k miles on the road with my URS, same spec that they reviewed. Been nothing but reliable, ride it every day and love it to bits. My most prized possession.

All great bikes, but I’d go for the Tifosi, as having a better gear range and versatility would be high on my priorities.

Hello Peter, the Tifosi Cavazzo frame is actually an ICAN X Gravel from China, it costs you €650 (free delivery). A set of DT Swiss G1800 Spline wheels €388. Ergon Allroad saddle €100. Easton aluminum stem and handlebar EA50 80€. Campi Ekar group and BSA Pro-Tech bottom bracket 1025€. Tyres, tubes (Schwalbe G1 Allroad) and handlebar tape 100.- Euros. Mechanics cost 400€ for assembly (in Switzerland). The current price of the Cavazzo is £3199, my build costs €2743 / £2424

Very odd choices imo. Seems to me as if you've gone for the quirky, rather than practical, gravel bikes. The winner didn't even mounts on the forks. Surely gravel bikes are meant to be used. Gravel riding, bikepacking etc. Still, I'm not the one making the vid. At least they came in under 3k.

Re: the Grizl. You've said that it does not cater 650b wheels as Canyon have indicated. Then why does XS and S include 650b wheelsets when you buy from them? Its a bit contradicting. Please enlighten me. Thank you!

I think you kind of miss what gravel bikes are. You should try them on chunky and steep gravel descents rather than single track. Single track isn't something those bikes would be on very often. Maybe you should come here to the US and try out some gravel races and rides.
@johnmorton7215
@johnmorton7215 2 жыл бұрын
Agree. Gravel varies so much by region but I would never be on single track on a gravel bike in the US. Here it is long usually straight gravel roads of varying quality. Some nicely maintained and others quite rough. Climbing and descending in some areas and rolling hills in others.
@whatwelearned
@whatwelearned 2 жыл бұрын
Unsurprisingly an English channel is considering English terrain, where you absolutely would include single track.
@DaveCM
@DaveCM 2 жыл бұрын
@@whatwelearned Again, it still kind of misses part of the point of a gravel bike. I am not surprised that this is how they test their bikes as that is what is primarily available to them. I am saying they should try out the gravel bikes as they were intended to be ridden and in a very different situation. If they came here to the US, they would appreciate different aspects of the bikes.

@DaveCM
@DaveCM Жыл бұрын
@Monkey what a dumb comment. They are gravel bikes. The vast majority of people will use them on gravel. I simply suggested coming to the US because we have a very large array of gravel. The biggest gravel races in the world are here. Plus, I'd like to see their take on them on different types of gravel rather than just single track. By the way, I've been to about a dozen countries all over the world. I'm very well aware of the rest of the world. And asking them to come to the US to ride our gravel is no different than a Frenchman telling me I need to come to France to ride the Pyrenees or the Alps. Both of which I have been to.

There is absolutely no reason for any bike to cost 3000£
@darrin2382
@darrin2382 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely and beware of limited comparisions. The BMC was chosen for having a 70 deg head angle a 425mm chain stay and is 9.58 kg. The cheaper GT Grade Carbon is 72 deg, 430mm chain, has its own innovative rear suspension and lighter at 8.9kg. Not sure I can see why there is a compelling need to spend £3k based on the criteria chosen by cycling weekly.

@@user-tu3xj5ii2c I suggest you look up what it takes to produce a carbon fiber like frame :) it's similar to a higher-end Swiss watch, as it takes a long time and is made by hand instead of a robotic process; that's one of the main reasons carbon bikes are so expensive.... the longer something takes to hand-build, the more it tends to cost. Motorcycles and cars have a much more automated production, for the most part.
