It makes sense to go newer as the parts aren't worn out yet. I have heard the same about the '03-4 models, but even if there are more problems, I haven't had anywhere near the issues since I got my '03 in January of '16 that I've had with other cars in the same period of time, but it did go in for a recall that I don't think the newer ones were included in. The light control module was replaced under the recall, which saved me money as I was planning to replace that, anyway. So, don't be shy about getting one if there's one to get. With a few repairs early on, it'll end up being one of the best cars you ever had.

I have a 2010 CVPI, love it. Wasn't considering anything older than 2006, and really 2009 because of the axle spline upgrade (late 05), instrument cluster upgrade (also late 05/beginning of 06), IAC delete/electronic throttle upgrade (06), and the list goes on. Also wasn't considering any former city cruisers, only those from the highway patrol. Found my 10 with only 94K miles and ~1500 hours. Bought it on the spot. Then later when the wifeeeee wanted a car but didn't want any former police car (for whatever reason) I bought her an 06 LX Sport and wasn't considering anything older for many of the same reasons.

I have a 2000 cvpi I picked up from South Ogden Utah for $7,000 in 2005 with 48,000 miles. Still running in 2020. It cost $150 to have the hole in roof sealed and painted over. Only problem was the fan control resister module that went out twice. Runs great, smooth and quit.i don’t have the push bar but I do have the left spotlight. Love the car.

Grab it. Detective cars are in great condition compared to patrol cars. Just make sure you look at key aspects of the car before you buy - how it drives, lights, horn (is it still installed), and other components that are important for daily driving.

I've owned a 99 CV and currently have an 02 and 03 Crown Vic Sport that was/is a daily driver. By far the 02 has been the most reliable. The 03 has had more problems that the other 2 combined. Now, the 03 is a different chassis in the Sport model, redesigned with the Marauder in 03/04. The sports also have 17 inch wheels and 239 HP. The sport was discontinued in 07 but some of the items such as 5-spoke wheels carried over.

There will always be good and bad model years. I have had a 1999, 2000 and a 2003 P71. The 2000 and 2003 both blew a spark plug and was fixed easily. I have driven from a 1998(first year) to 2011(last year) cvpi and have loved them all. IF anyone can prove without a doubt and with manufacturers proof what years of cvpi's are the worst, then I will believe them.

Your videos are very informative and you seem to have a pretty good attitude about everything so I just wanted to let you know. Replaced front struts and shocks 5. Changed water pump 6. Replaced left rear brake hose 7. Replaced a/c dryer 8. Starter replaced (again) I know its different from CVPI. Yet the parts are (pretty much) the same if not close. I miss the car but it was good.

My Vic is a 2001 and seems to outshine many of the newer ones. If anything, it's a gem. Cheap because of age but well maintained. There's hardly a lot of difference between my 2001 and a 2010 like yours. I have cruise, air conditioning, and a good radio. That's all that matters to me.

I looked for an older LTD Crown Vic. I got a 1990 for $2200 with 138k miles. The older LTD models are nicer to look at imo. I also bought it because it had the 302 Windsor V8. I personally think the Windsor will outlast any 4.6L just for the fact that it's a traditional pushrod V8 that was developed in the 60's, and the 4.6L has an overhead cam. They also seem to have less issues

I'm going to buy two Vic's. An 07 with 122k for $1,000 and an 11 with 120k for $1,450. I'm debating on keeping both or selling one to mode the other. What do y'all think? Edit: they are both being sold from the local PD.

It is in the description people assume when you say certain years are not as good they have to understand they have had no problems but the other 90% has.The Crown Vic has been a bulletproof platform since its inception.Hell I have owned a 1987 grand marquis and a 91 crown vic. Sold the Crown vic to a neighbour he just got rid of it a month ago due to the body falling off it .A friend of mine a Toronto police sergeant misses the Crown Vic how much interior space it has and its road manners. The Taurus a faster car is smaller but you cant drift it around corners.Tho the Taurus in rain or snow with AWD does get to calls faster.Kudos to FORD the ONLY maker that has the longest run with one model in the police services the Crown Victoria.

i love the 98-04 due to the old school dash cluster reminds of when i use to watch those old episodes of cops just gives me a feeeling to go riding on the back roads at night with some good music on.but im getting a 06-11 model im waiting on my city to auction off the cop vics that they have on the impound yard hopefully they dont send em out of state before i can get too. em they are high milage i know because they were on the streets when i was in highschool in 2008 its the black on black ones i seen like 5 of em in the yard. i asked the local sheriff how many miles was on his 2011 p71 because there are like 5 or 6 sheriff p71s still on the road in east texas and he said his p71 had 298kmiles and still running good so im not worried about the milage long as it isnt over 208k

I had an 07, 86k miles. Recently. The Vic PI, made to 102k before the trans gave out, it would not go into gear anymore. In those 16k I did Doughnuts everywhere, overloaded it with scrap metal. (2630) lbs is my record, put differnt size tires on it. Just to name a few. The car can take a beating

08 is the best year. Interior is compatible with 03 plus. Engine is flex fuel capable. Oil filter is the old FL820S which is bigger than the metric filters on later cars. 08 was the first year of TPMS which frankly is a pain to maintain.

My 10 140k miles needs a pwr steering pump, tranny and valve cover leak a tiny bit the pant is dicked, BUT I only paid $1000 for it. After repairs paint and some used seats ill still be in it under 2500 bucks.

I have an o5 & an 09 & I enjoy driving the 05 Better! I'm considering selling one of them & picking up a 13 or 14 Interceptor. I like the modern, strong look. I have a 16 Fusion & the newer Interceptors resemble a Super-Beefed Up Model. What are your thoughts on the newer Interceptors? How's the reliability & durability compared to the older CVPI's?
