I'm a schizophrenic. I'll confirm it's extremely difficult to deal with. The fact that I'm alive at 38 I think is astonishing.

I hope you still have a long, very happy and fulfilling life full of love of all sorts ahead of you considering you're so surprised you made it this long. No one should be astonished to live to nearly forty.

Yikes. I had cancer when I was 8 and thought that was rough. I can't imagine living in the minds of these poor people. I feel so sorry for them

i have antisocial personality disorder. seeing the condition that sprouted from constant neglect and abuse as a child and that defined and nearly ruined my entire life be seen as just "scary killer manipulator disorder" and seeing every bad person being instantly labelled as a "sociopath" is tiring. i didn't want any of this. i never wanted to hurt anyone. i wanted to care. now i'm just a neurotic angry sad mess working customer service with nowhere to go in life and no plans or dreams. it wasn't something i could have controlled but i'm just assumed to take the blame and fix it myself?

I think it's unfair that they're labeling people like that anyway. Yeah okay they have a problem but at the same time, it's like don't judge them so much. You don't have to worry about any judgment here I would never judge anybody. I'm sorry you're dealing with it though,

Okay, has anyone else seen those self-portraits made by an artist with Alzheimer's? While it's a great insight into the disease, it's also somewhat disturbing.

for me nothing beats panic attacks, losing the control of yourself while still being able to see, ear and feel what's happening and thinking "stop, stop, stop" not knowing who the fuck is controlling your every movement even your words

I actually had the hyper vigilance thing. Bavk in school I threw my future wife because she touched the front of my neck. I ended up catching her, but hurt myself in the process. We were on bleachers, so I had room to move to catch her, but I literally had to throw myself down them. I'll never live that one down.

In the story with the wannabe cannibal roommate, why tf did they show OP the horribly disturbing journal? They could have just told OP that the roommate wasn't safe and that's why they removed him!

That “psychologist” isn’t real, Angelman syndrome, formerly called puppets syndrome is along the lines of mental retardation, autism, or Down syndrome. My nephew has it, and it’s genetic, both mom and dad are carriers and every child they would have would also have Angelmans syndrome. It is named that and the former name because as babies they smile non-stop, and look a bit marionette like. Ryan has a 46 now, when he was diagnosed they were given until he was a teenager for a life span. Other disorders accompany A.S. Diabetes, high cholesterol, cardiac issues, inability to speak, poor coordination. He does flap his hands when excited but it’s not creepy!!!

Angelman syndrome or Angelman's syndrome (AS) is a genetic disorder that mainly affects the nervous system. Symptoms include a small head and a specific facial appearance, severe intellectual disability, developmental disability, limited to no functional speech, balance and movement problems, seizures, and sleep problems. Children usually have a happy personality and have a particular interest in water. The symptoms generally become noticeable by one year of age.

The picture I have in my head is the Happy Mask Salesman from the Legend of Zelda series. Is that similar to Angelman's syndrome or not?

The final commenter under Story 1 intrigues me. I wonder what exactly caused their body dysmorphia. I was expecting them to end by saying they figured out they're trans tbh

My brother (16) will steal, lie, and manipulate to get whatever he wants. He'll use crocodile tears when he's being called out on his crap. He meets all but one criteria for antisocial personality disorder.

Couple of things... Story one about the person who had those feelings of their Memeber wasn't their's.... Buddy I hate to tell you. That sounds like dysphoria, "losing your virginity" sorry hunny that's called repression. If you're reading this. Please talk to a professional and ask about body dysphoria. Also Cotard's syndrome.. One of the scariest mental illness I've ever heard of it

Stupidity. It's scary as hell because you never see it coming. You expect something to come from people with actual problems, but stupidity can kill while remaining completely unintentional and even anonymous. It gets even worse when the stupidity is encouraged intentionally, sometimes because someone thinks that's how they can control people, but actually it just creates uncontrollable chaos. One example, initiations. Kids die because of a dare created by other kids. Adults doing stupid things on purpose to the point they carelessly put their lives on the line on purpose, all for a laugh or a ridiculous social construct. (Fun fact, it used to be that women were required to always wear a corset otherwise it was considered extremely improper, like wearing underwear or not, but corsets altered their bone structrure and practically strangled them to death. They were painful to wear and it should've been obvious that something constricting the chest or torso to the extreme was a bad idea, but people continued to die from wearing them anyway. Take a guess at who invented the corset, it was probably someone who never had to wear it, they were the one who started the dare but it was society that kept the dare alive.)

Around the age of 16/17 I'm pretty sure I had clinical lycanthropy ... When I would look in the mirror I would see my teeth sharpening and i could almost physically feel it, I would see my nails sharpen, even when I looked at myself I saw my eyes as silver and the thing is I physically felt my eyes burning when I looked at then and they were silver , I was so damn delusional that I actually downloaded this moon phase tracking app on my phone and I would check it regularly, And when it said there would be a full moon my delusional self locked my bedroom door and turned off the lights, My body felt like it was changing with like a kinda dull aching feeling when in Reality nothing was happening, my parents eventually brought me to my psychiatrist that fixed me up with some medication and I haven't been like that ever since. So yea mental conditions are not fun and y'all should take your mental health seriously!

I'm not usually one of those people who gets upset if a certain group is not included in a discussion of a problem, but the last story response that mentioned "servicemen" with PTSD, constantly made sound like only men have this problem, or at least, they failed to include women in their discussion. This is the kind of thinking that causes women who have been in combat to be overlooked for treatment.

Definitely something that’s heavily ignored and overlooked. A lot of that has to do with society and media. It’s just not talked about or pushed in our faces enough. I’m glad you commented this
