During that time, I've spent some effort on maps playing with what-if scenarios. I'd love to see your research and humor applied to some travel videos related to walking (comparing paths and distances, describing mandatory walking areas, or whatever else strikes your fancy as you research).

Their is a even better one :) If you are a resident of the Pitcairn Island ( a small British territory with 50 residents), you can legally travel to New Zealand to seek medical treatment without a proper British passport. You will arrive at Auckland, New Zealand which also marks the beginning of your journey, after your treatment you can go back to Pitcairn but you can also get on a boat and travel all the way to Gibraltar, UK. Gibraltar is also a British territory besides the Mediterranean Sea but due to it’s geographical advantages it’s actually the opposite of Auckland, New Zealand, which means you can travel over 20,000 kilometers with out a passport!

After a quick google search, I learnt several things that contradict the video : -The Air France Flight from Paris CDG to Tahiti Faa does indeed stop in the US, but the passengers don't actually exit the plane while it's refueling and don't need a passport. -There are domestic flights from Tahiti to New Caledonia. -EU citizens don't need a passport to go to another country So you could technically fly from the Canary islands to Spain. Then Fly from there to Paris. Then use that one special Flight from Paris to Tahiti. Then from Tahiti to New Caledonia and drive to the furthest point of New Caledonia. All of that without needing a passport. The total length of the trip from Morro Jarble, Canary Islands, Spain to Kuto, New Caledonia, France is actually 19 390 km (12 050 mi) making it even longer than the Guam, Puerto-Rico trip

St Pierre & Miquelon is part of France, just of the coast of Newfoundland, that has a non-stop flight to Paris (they used to have to fly through Montreal, but their runway has been extended so now there's direct flights) - no passports needed for French/EU citizens, so it's possible to fly from St. Pierre to Reunion, which are 13,312km apart, without a passport. There is also a direct flight from Paris to Papeete (French Polynesia) with a stop in Vancouver. Other airlines do this route via San Francisco or LA, and the Americans, being American, insisted on full immigration checks (even for EU citizens), but wether or not Canada does, I don't know. On the St. Pierre route when that required a full-blown connection in Montreal with a change of planes, they had special arrangements for transferring passengers allowing them to avoid any Canadian immigration/customs stuff, so it'd be nice if they've extended the same courtesy to the Paris-Vancouver-Papeete flights. If so that's 15,715km without a passport!

From Ponta Delgada (PDL) in the Azores -> Lisbon (LIS) -> Paris (CDG) -> Réunion (RUN) is 7624 miles/12271 kilometers. The travel from the Azores (part of Portugal) via Lisbon to Paris is within the Schengen Area. EU citizens do not need to show a national ID card or passport when travelling in this border-free area, though documents may be requested. Réunion is an overseas department and region of France that is also an outermost region of the EU. This means an EU national can use an national ID card for travel from Paris, for example. It also means any EU citizen can not only travel to but also RESIDE in any/all of those places for an unlimited period.

In the Summer of 2018 there was a seasonal weekly flight between Paris and Saint-Pierre (off Canada's Atlantic coast) so one could get from Réunion to Saint-Pierre without needing a passport. I guess that comes close. But normally you need to go through Canada.

If you're from one of the nordic countries, you can fly to Greenland with only some picture ID. E.g. your drivers licence. As for example a Dane, you can thus fly from Réunion to Paris, from Paris to Copenhagen and from Copenhagen to Kangerlussuaq and from Kangerlussuaq to Qaanaq. Which has got to be the longest distance.

You then visit the area around the Toshka lakes and as a EU citizen hop on a flight back to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, then take a direct flight (only with technical stop at LAX) of Air France to Fa'a'ā International Airport, Papeete French Polynesia (still EU) and take a connecting flight to Tubuai - Mataura Airport, which is literally on the other side of the earth from the Toshka lakes with a distance of 20.021,37 km. In the US, Canada, and Mexico, we have something called a "Nexus Card" which is part of the Trusted Traveler Programs. They're basically passports in a card that you don't need a passport to get. It's a travel document, much like a passport, that's only usable (as far as I know) in those three countries. I have never owned a passport in my life, but I have a Nexus Card. With that card, I can travel the "US Virgin Islands to Guam" distance without US citizenship (Canadians get visa-free entry to the US), and there may even be a longer route that I haven't thought of.

Very simple. Find a place that is opposite the open sea and is in the same country as a port. Then travel to that port, get on a ship you either hired or bought, and then travel halfway around the earth. Done, maximum possible distance travelled. Bonus points for getting to a tiny island so you can get off your ship. Also, there are plenty of international airports where you only need a passport to leave the secure area, not to get off the plane.

Point Udall Guam is actually located on U.S. Naval Base Guam, and anyone without a military ID or base access would be hard pressed to get there. But a few miles off your calculation of distance to anywhere else in Guam doesn't disqualify as the likely farthest place you could travel to or from without a passport. On a side note I do believe there is some sort of tour you can schedule and if I am not mistaken Guam locals do have some rights to places such as these. I have saw plenty of people I assumed were locals out there. Point Udall and the Spanish Steps is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been...and in fact it was without a passport.
