I feel like people over look how good the story really is

Shadow's story with Rouge and Omega was really good! We get to see how far this little trio have come since Sonic Heroes, and Shadow himself is now a GUN agent. Proving once and for all he has made amendments with his past. That's brilliant.

The problem with Sonic 2006's story is that it needed more rewrites to clarify some points like the paradox issue and making Sonic's story more relevant to the the other campaigns while making it narratively less of a string of random events. Make Sonic feel like Sonic just a little more matured from his Adventure days and have proper chemistry with Elise; the latter given more interesting stuff to do like being someone who can debate Eggman on power and responsibility. Remove the romance element and make it a story of Elise learning to enjoy herself with Sonic a force for change. Make Sonic and Eggman's story initially feel like an isolated affair before the other two campaigns reveals that it’s much more involved in the grander scheme of things than expected. The time travel issue could have been mitigated by not doing it or making it so that Mephiles is manipulating all three hedgehogs to unknowningly carry out parts of his complex masterplan of bringing back Solaris through inducing paradoxes to destabilise the space-time continuum with Sonic's rescue of Elise from the ship disaster the final piece of the puzzle as her survival is a paradox by itself. Enough to allow him to rejoin with Iblis because of it and become Solaris again. Make the screwy logic feel deliberate on his part. Make it so Mephiles can't rejoin or can't exist in the same place as Iblis in the future after their separate imprisonments because they would simply repel each other by virtue of being halves of Solaris. Have a scene of Mephiles observing the three hedgehogs doing their respective things and going "Things are coming together as planned." Have Knuckles, Rouge or Eggman speculate that the Chaos Emeralds exists on a different plane of existence relative to theirs' much like the Master Emerald including their placements in time and Mephiles is aware of the fact which is why he had to construct his scheme to line everything up for the return of Solaris. After all, Solaris is a beast who's existence is a threat to time and space. Why not have Mephiles be purposefully screwing with the timeline on his way to rejoining Iblis?

I hope all the good qualities of Sonic 06 will be realized with the completion of Sonic P-06. This was a really great video that summarizes the theme of each hedgehog's story!

Shadow was lovable back then. The justapposition of positive traits (calm, loyal, gentle) and negative traits (stubborn, too quiet, melancholy), somebody that you would trust. It was the last time he was like that. Later good Shadows are sparse, unfortunately, occurring only here and there.

It seems we’re in the “Sonic 06 was always good” era now. I would personally love another game with this sort of tone and structure in the modern day.

I’m glad I‘be always genuinely liked this game. A lot of people are fake & just hopping on the “06 ain’t that bad” train but been making fun of it for years

Sonics story is just Lupin Castle of Cagliostro/ TV specials. Elise sucks because, unlike Clarisse, her personality doesn't bring anything for Sonic to bounce off of. Clarisse works because she had a clear impact on Lupin & Co as much as he did on her (this doesn't have to be the case for Sonic) by adding something to their group even temporarily. Elise is basically like all the girls from Lupin TV specials who try to mimic the success of Cagliostro. If you dont believe the Lupin connection, think on this - Elise is probably derived from Calrisse - theyre both red heads with dead parents - theyre both princesses of a Duchy - Kingdom Valley is basically the old Cagliostro castle thats buried in ruins under water, it also seems like its the MAIN stage of 06 since its in the orohinal 2004 tech demo, the title screen, the box art, and was the first stage playable in all the demos.

Seeing videos like this, pointing out the good that could have been, and what good DID come out of it just make me more and more upset how this game turned out. This is why I still think that 06 is THE most deserving of a remake. Not Shadow 05, not heroes, and DEFINATILY not Unleashed. Their potential has already been reached, and I don't think a remake will increase their low scores. 06 being the most infamous outside of the fanbase will definitely get some heads turning.

To be honest I think that Sonic 06 could be a pretty good game, the story is awesome. It was rushed that's why it's bad... In my opinion it deserves a proper remake

people alway dismiss the story because of the kiss remove that...necrophiliac beastiality? and the story is still amazing, better than majority of what has come out since. The level design is solid as proven by Project 06, the fan project that is pretty much only fixing and improving the actual game mechanics, barely touching the levels themselves. Sega just needed to let sonic team have a little more time to cook

If the story wasn’t told in a time travel will tell kind of way as well as not go the Sonic X route of involving humans, it would've been better received.
