Thank you, Michael, for your generosity! for your inspiring and enlightening video-series on preparing for teaching in the fall! I have learned so much and tried some of your ideas out. My college had a Zoom PD session the other day about Hy-Flex teaching and I was promoting your video-series where ever I could! Some of my colleagues have already watched the videos and thanked me for the shared links! By the way, we met at the edMedia conference in Colorado! You planned to write a book "The End of Wonder in the Age of Whatever" I guess you wrote, "The Art of Being Human" instead.

I use screencast-o-matic. It works perfectly fine, but I am sure there are others that can do the job just as well. Bandicam is getting popular.

Thank you for these amazing videos. I'm a classroom teacher being forced by the pandemic to learn online teaching tools on the fly, but watching your videos make me excited and inspired about the potentials of online teaching. Two questions: 1. What, exactly, does the initial graph represent? (How are the figures measured?) 2. How did the graph change after you implemented the various changes?

The opening graph shows what percentage of viewers keep viewing the video over time. So while almost 90% were watching the first 2 minutes, onloy 50% watched the rest. But since many students watched the video twice, it was actually the case that most students watched the full video and some went back and watched the Intro again. My realization was that the Intro was especially engaging, so I started making all of my videos more like the Intro and less like the rest.

Hi Sarah, I only used PowerPoint and DaVinci Resolve throughout this video. If you give me a time code I can try to explain how I did a specific part.

@@sarahzhang5936 I just used ScreenCast-O-Matic to record my screen while I made the PowerPoint slide and then sped it up about 10-20X in DaVinci Resolve. If you are using Resolve, right-click and look for "retime controls." Once they are activated you can change the clip speed by dragging the end of the clip forwards or backward.

As a linguistic anthropologist--cum-KZfaqr, I'm really glad to have found your channel and these videos! A lot of your points on this video and the super simple episode are really helpful. Excited to follow along and see how your tips can apply to language teaching. Do you follow any specific eduTubers that you really like for language learning?

I am actually planning on doing a video on how to learn languages - more from a learner side rather than a teacher side. Some of my favorite language teachers (I have been learning Thai and Vietnamese) include Vietglish Fun, Learn Vietnamese with SVFF, and ThaiwithMod. I like how the last 2 especially do scenarios and real conversation that I can slow down, repeat, etc. as I start to pick up on the language. I also take tips for language immersion from people like Phúc Mập Vlog. I also really like the advice about learning languages from this documentary kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n9KcdNOYxrLLd3U.html

but what if they watch the video more than once? sometimes i watch the first minute to get an idea then go back later and finish it..... my two attempts will still show up in your chart. that drop could just be first week first time curiosity? and later everyone finished the video.
