Cmon Jackie, you don’t understand why people were mad at KD for going to GS in 2016. The thunder just blew a 3-1 lead to them in the WCF! It was about joining the guys who had just beat them and the almost disrespect to competition. Plus as fans we all knew that the competition in the league was gone too because the warriors were a shoe in to win the first 2 years. Like know one questioned that
@LukaLegend77

another main reason was they just broke the record for most wins ever at 73-9! and they basically lost nothing and added the second best player in the world at the time to potentially the best team ever, it was like a stupid 2K move but in real life, at the end of the day at least we can say we witnessed greatness with steph-klay-kd-dray

At this point, most NBA TV media just let the players slide on everything. It's been bad for a while, but Rachel Nichols flying to Minnesota the day Jimmy Butler just _happened_ to storm out of practice after showing up KAT and Wiggins was the start of the end of real NBA TV journalism. Now they just defend the players at all turns and don't even bother questioning them or even try to hold them accountable.

Woj tweeted part of the podcast last week that discussed this incident and Draymond said he was upset the Warriors took KD's side, but he ultimately accepted that he was at fault and he literally said "What they did was actually the right thing. The problem with people controlling their own narrative is they also control the truth of that narrative. A lot of players and people in general want what's best for them and that doesn't always mean the truth. That's why journalists exist. Because people are going to lie to make themselves look better. The media left the door open for athletes to start taking the narrative into their own hands because let’s be honest, objective journalism went out of style, what a decade ago? It’s up to the consumer to decipher now, which is how it should be. For better or worse.
@Random-Stranger
@Random-Stranger 2 жыл бұрын
The landscape changed with social media providing athletes a platform of their own to craft and spin their own narratives. They can amass huge audiences of their own and clap back at media stories/narratives, added to the fact that audiences' attention span got shorter and shorter so the most profitable content became click bait headlines instead of well-written and well-researched/sourced long-form journalism. There's blame to go around for everyone, but it's not solely the media's fault why this change happened. The media game just became more cut-throat and traditional sports journos have to compete for clicks not just with athletes but with young stalwarts in new media such as podcasters and sports youtubers. When everyone in the game is just trying to survive and the next paycheck is only guaranteed with the number of clicks and audience-engagement you generate, it's the athletes and trusted newsbreakers (Woj, Schef, Shams, etc) that emerge as the top dogs. Everyone else has to fight it out among themselves.

@@Random-Stranger I don’t disagree with much of what you said but you kind of proved my point when you say how in a cut throat business clickbait is how you end up making a living. Athletes didn’t start journalism. I agree social media is what fostered this change, but objective journalism can still live on these platforms. It’s the easy thing to do to sell headlines or even just editorializing. That’s what opened the door for athletes who are wealthier than ever to take seize of the market share. And the media better be damn careful bcuz at the end of the day I guarantee you the consumer is “consuming”, first, bcuz of the athlete. Any good business is trying to lower costs and expenses. Like my man nipsey said “F the middle man, proud to pay” these athletes are paying to cut the media out. I love it.

Fine him half his salary and then garner even more negative press Then what happens? Is the world supposed to cancel Draymond for throwing Warriors management under the bus? Sports are different nowadays. Athletes don't need to bow down to decorum, authority, and traditionalism. Naomi Osaka has won Grand Slams, and she's gone against the grain by not caving in to the traditional relationship with the media. Sports professionalism is constantly being redefined. If the Warriors traded away Draymond, how do you think the rest of the team would react? Do you think they'd all play at their 100% best? Is there anyone else in the league that's tradable with his defensive caliber?

@@__redacted__ it comes down to Draymond now though, if they don't make the playoffs or he has a bad year or the team underperforms. Do you think Kerr will get fired? Nope, Kerr and Meyers will have each other's back because clearly they can't trust the players if that's how they're gonna act in public. It's different if they weren't on the team, but to publicly trash your organization, it's a bad look. Guarantee if they don't have a good year, Draymond will be gone. Guaranteed. Can't trade Steph, he just signed a long term deal, if Klay isn't good or takes too long, he'll wanna stay for the long term security with the team and the only way he'll get that long term security with GS is if he shuts up. It's on Draymond now, they'll happily trade try to move him, problem is, are any teams gonna want him? 1 thing goes wrong after years of winning. Teams won't trust a guy that shits on them. Draymond's making himself look bad

So many fkn things were missed 1. People were mad at the warriors/kd because they knew they were going to win. When the cavs lost the first year, and then Kyrie left… there were no other team to challenge them unless they got hurt. That makes watching the games less fun, and that’s coming from a warriors fan. 2. Draymond snapping on kd wasn’t the only time draymond has snapped on someone. It’s just the first time the media saw it. David west said there were a lot of things that went on with no cameras around. But this was the time that suits went to draymond to make it right. 3. They sent draymond to go talk to Steph, and nothing really happened. Tho they said steph wasn’t brought up tho he was. 4. Kd was likely gone, but bob meyers shit talked kd. Talking about how klay could get any contract he wanted. Also mentioning they were light years ahead. That’s the front office taking away from what the players did which happens to include kd. The same guy who just wants to work on his game and smoke. 5. If you tell draymond to do something, he’s not going to do it. If they let him do his own thing, he’s much more likely to apologize. People say draymond is just crazy, and then act surprised with this interview… you’re not doing your homework. Chuck and draymond went at it on social media/tv. Then they acted like professionals when working together. Because for draymond to exist in the nba, he has to be a little crazy. But that’s on the court, once time passes he can go and apologize 6. Kd was likely gone, and the draymond incident didn’t help things. But bob Meyers and Steve Kerr situation probably put that nail in the coffin that he wouldn’t return. People don’t leave jobs because of one thing, bill should know that. 7. Warriors players and management were confused/mad at kd for not playing in the finals earlier since other warriors players were playing while hurt. Again another reason to leave.

For this incident in particular, they blamed Kerry and Myers first and then they blamed all their team mates for not stepping in, when really this about 20% on KD for showing up Green (although Green's got to pass that ball), and about 80% on Green for being a baby...but this incident was not the reason KD left, and if this incident didn't happen, KD was still not going to stay, so its all a way for Green to feel better about his role.
