I think the reason the Clone High reboot isn’t as popular as the original is because it disregarded it’s original premise, which was to be a parody of high soap operas. It’s trying to be a show in it’s own right, and in a way, that direction has stripped it of the charm of the original.

After finishing season 2, I am kinda mixed. Most episodes feel good but not as consistently funny as the original. I also enjoyed all the new characters but felt Cleo to be completely ruined in characterization as well as Joan and Abe acting a little bit out of character in moments but not that bad. The last 4 episodes were definitely my favorite, so I hope it gets another season so they can hopefully stick with the quality of those.

Watching the two seasons back to back for the firs time was definitely an experience, i felt the first season had a more homey feeling to it and in a way reminded me of jokes youd make up with your friends?? If that makes sense, they were clever, stupidly immature but still hitting the mark.

I think there’s a lot of potential for Ghandi in Season 2. Imagine if they give him an arc in which he tries to better himself and live up to his “Clonefather” but the actual Ghandi appears in a dream and tells him he doesn’t have to live up to others expectations and that his friends like him for who he is and that is what matters.

This season was a big miss for me. I didn't like the shift from teen drama parody to actual teen drama. It's like how Birdgirl is to Harvey Birdman, it looks familiar but are completely different.

Harriet old design looks better because it brings a big connection to their old counterpart and their culture. And Its kind of annoying for it to just be thrown away for an annoying character who just feels like a character for velma, Joan and Cleo feel like they are from velma the most, but I got new hope for the show because these last few episodes were good!!

abe being the one to get cancelled was pretty ironic considering how back in season 1 he made out with Gandhi to prove that ADHD wasnt contagious 😭 but i really liked season 2 even if the first season was better. They had a lot to accomplish, adapting to a new time, audience, and characters, and they did that as best they could. The reason why the neon threw my off wasnt because of the brightness, but bc three characters had it, making their color pallettes too similar for my taste.

Season 2 peaked at the second half after giving a honestly pretty bad episode 4 however it started to get really interesting after Joan and JFK broke up and Topher sabotages Abe's only chance to finally confess his feelings. It's also funny how in the last episode JFK and Abe bond as friends and the whole male group starts to grow attached together, specially now since Joan was exposed for sabotaging all the other students I also sort of liked the new scudworth plot, being him simping for a woman who obviously hates him, with my favorite part being the whole bunny plan to get sympathy points once her lizards eat it

I think the best way I've heard how season 2 is compared to season 1, is that season 2 became the teen drama that season 1 wouldve made fun of

I like how the plots were more dramatic and consistent in the new season. I felt the writers didn't take things as seriously in the first season and the plots felt overly comedic and ridiculous sometimes. But that was part of the original season's charm I suppose. Also, I really like Topher Bus. Don't know why, he's just so funny.

I think problem is that main creators are trying to appeal to Gen Z from a Gen X mindset. A lot of the humor in season 1 was seeing how historical figures whould act in at the time "modern" 2000's culture. I feel like season really struggles to grasp Gen Z culture and most of the jokes don't have the proper basing to land.

I feel like the focus shifted in the new show. From parodying cheesy teen drama shows, to just parodying modern day period. Like ofc it’s going 2 poke fun at modern day bullshit, but it would have been a lot funnier if it was a parody of modern teen drama shows like Riverdale and Euphoria. Thereby also making it more inline with the original show. It would have been so much more interesting to see the humor of Clone High be aplied to those kinds of shows. For it to be the Shrek of the teen drama Series like it originally was Edit: There are more things I don’t like abt the new season, but this feels like the core problem to me

my fav new character has got to be frida, i like that shes the chill friend but still gets an arc (with cleo) that show her nervous side, which i find just makes her feel a lot more real and relatable

I really enjoyed the new season! It got even better in the back half of the season imo. And after finishing season 2, I went back and rewatched season 1. There’s a lot of fun little details that are either extremely well thought out foreshadowing, or the new season just had a bunch of neat callbacks.

In my opinion, Season 1 is definitely better than Season 2. However, ignoring the first two episodes of Season 2, the season is actually really good. I really like the jokes in Season 2 despite them being not comparable to the hilarious jokes of season 1. And Topher Bus is a really good character. Plus the old characters are still amazing, and really carry the show. Also the relationships between Confucius and Harriet Tubman and the relationship between Cleopatra and Frida Kahlo makes the new characters not feel boring and gives them a personality. I’m really hoping for Season 3.

Well it was confirmed that ghandi will come back if they make a 4th season. And I really hope they know what to do with him.

I watched season 2 and personally, it's just not in the same league as season 1. Gandhi is my favorite character and him not being unfrozen is a huge blow to the reboot so far having his character in the show and that's not just cause he's my favorite. Clone High just isn't Clone High without Gandhi and seeing all the waters tested with the many references we got of him throughout season 2 and not a single bad thing happened towards the show, gives me much hope and excitement towards season 4 or at earliest, a possible tease of him being unthawed by the end of season 3 with maybe a voice line as his ice is melting.

I feel like season 2 took a while to find it's footing and flow again, partly because of the new writers, the 20 year break the creators had since last writing these characters, and the lack of the G-man, which meant that scenes and jokes and subplots that would definitely have gone to him got spread out across other characters. As it went on I could see more and more of the tight writing showing through, though things still felt off, it felt like every other scene of each episode alternated between feeling like OG Clone High and being just a bit off, but by the final few episodes I think they found their stride again

I don’t think the second season was completely bad definitely they definitely shaped up towards the end of it to me. Not having Ghandi hurts the show a bit cause he was the whole B plot mostly revolved around him. They should’ve kept him in as GFK😂

I have to agree about Harriet she certainly turned into my favorite too. I've seen so many people complain about her design but the neon suits her the best as it matches with her outgoing personality. which also makes it disappointing that the first episode we really get to see her personality episode 3 there I felt wasn't very good. episode 3 & 4 I certainly felt were the weakest of this season. I don't hate Confucius new design but something about his giant torso/jacket & really skinny legs slightly erks me for not being more proportional. I hope that's the right word for it. but this season was a lot of fun & almost as amazing as the first & I can't wait to see where the cliffhanger ending goes in any future seasons :)

Its kinda weird how some aspects of the original season are never explained. Like, abe's history with cleo and jfk is never mentioned and they all act like that romance and rivalry never happened. Also, werent the original shadowy figures and foster parents frozen as well? They might do somerhing with them in season three

Really picks up steam in the last half of the season for me, eps 7-9 especially are some of the best even compared to the OG run, but the first half isn't 'atrocious' by any means. It works well. They avoided a Velma, thats for sure. I think the writers were rushed and overworked a bit - hence things like the writers strike we have going on now.

I noticed that I appreciated Abe and his development a lot more and liked Joan a lot less in season 2. I think it's because Abe's character was initially put more on the back burner a bit to focus on his relationship troubles, and by season 2 the same thing became true of Joan. I wonder if that's simply an inherent flaw of teen dramas, parody or not, where romance problems tend to supersede a lot of the personality traits of whoever is involved in them in importance. I think it worked better for Abe because he was supposed to be the dumb oblivious main character and not much else, but since Joan had a different role, it's more obvious how less interesting her character got when she kind of took over Abe's role as oblivious/conflicted main character. I'm not sure if this could be from the fact that Clone High became more drama than actual satire, or if it really is just something that can't be avoided.

topher bus on a comedic level is my favorite because of the amount of flaws in his character. Frida makes me happy simply because i have never seen someone draw the mustache us hispanic women are blessed with, and it's not treated as an ugly thing except by cleo. I do miss cleo's old voice actor voicing cleo, her new voice actor has changed the vibe of cleo entirely.

I feel like they were kind of out of their element at first, but now they’re picking it back up. That’s why the episodes got better after each one. And I actually agree with all of your points (which is surprising cause I don’t usually agree with people on the internet) also, am I the only one who actually likes the whole Cleo and Frida pairing??

In my opinion, I think the new clone high is pretty solid, all the characters and the jokes are also somewhat sold hit or miss for me. My favorite joke was the InACentAbe_1776 joke and my favorite character is the golbin of human Topher bus trying to be PC all the time when in actuality he's just smug asf waiting for validation 😂

As a person who watched the first season I feel like it stayed the same because it's still has the in your face references and the random slap stick with a weird mix of shroom wave. So I think season two did a fantastic job and can't wait to see more !!!

I'm mixed in this. It's decent enough, but I feel like the show treated some plot points pretty poorly up to the point where I feel like they just wanted to forget a lot of the things from the original with the exception of the freezing. I feel like the revival just needs another season or two in order to find its place and live up to the original show

I'm one of the few people who not only absolutely LOVES this new season/reboot, I'm also among the few who thinks the humor is on par with the OG series/first season. My pick for favorite character goes to Frida, whom I've chosen as my in-series crush; despite the fact she later hooks up with Cleo. She's everything I'd like in a woman; smart, chill, artistic, friendly, outgoing...the works

I really don't like how they're handling the old characters. Nobody feels like themselves. Cleo was a total boss who used her looks, charm and wit to bend people to her will. She commanded *respect.* Now she's just a standard mean girl who whines about her hair or whatever. She's pathetic. Basically an accessory to Frida now. JFK went from bragadocious, aggressive jock to dumb himbo puppydog, Abe would NEVER say the things he gets "cancelled" for, etc. etc. The writers have either forgotten what these characters are like, or are only interested in writing them to be the characters they need for each episode to happen. Don't get me STARTED on the new cast. They ain't Gandhi, they could never HOPE to be Gandhi. I like Topher, though. He would've fit right into Gen 1 CH.

I had to re-watch the original series before watching the Revival of Clone High and sure it was Good just not as Great as the original series but it was surprisingly good despite the whole Gaundi controversy the show is still good sure the revival had a few misteps with the TikTok references but the show is still good

i liked it, but i couldn't help but feel that the teen drama element that made the show so iconic was missing on this second season

So far, I've only seen people who say it's awesome and people who say it's trash. It's nice to for once see some middle ground opinions about it rather than the extreme opposite sides of the spectrum being at each others' throats

i feel like i enjoy most of the characters and episode concepts, but the jokes feel off compared to the original. also i feel like cleo and frida becoming a couple came out of nowhere; like frida had the buildup but it wasn't even noticeable; that plotline could have been fleshed out more imo

After binging the first season, I have to say it was such a blast. The jokes and characters were good, some moments making me laugh more. Now that season 2 is finished, I have to say it did a little worse than the original. The jokes were somewhat good, only a few making me laugh. Some of the clones from season 1 felt a little downgraded. The new characters were good for some points in episodes, none of them weren’t my favorite either. I felt they downgraded Cleo a whole bunch, not having a lot of dialogue in a few episodes and wasn’t really the mean and unhinged person back in season 1. I felt that Abe and Joan were also downgraded. They were just a little out of character in the episodes but not a lot. I felt Abe wasn’t the funny one that we knew in s1. Some of the episodes felt too comedic, but I guess that’s how s1 was. Overall my rating of this season from the first was 6/10. It wasn’t really good but at the same time it had a few chuckles and a few good moments.

5:20 the reason Clone Joan looks way different from Historical Joan is because Clone Joan was distancing herself and identity from Historical Joan on purpose. Hence the goth aesthetic and dyed hair, yet everyone else in the show resembles their Historical Parents. Coming from a black girl, you can say Harriet is any female darkskin historical figure and Confusious any male asian historical figure. It's crazy because Harriet is trying harder actually to live up to her Historical Mother as far as I know. Hell no, their new designs are not better than the older ones. I'm so tired of people d-riding this mess of a reboot instead of really acknowledging how flawed and different it is from the OG.

The first 2 episodes are pretty rocky. There was so much commentary on how teens are more progressive now and the old clones couldn't say all the things they used to say. I understand why they had to do it but its less fun. I agree with all that stuff but when I turn on clone high I want the plot to be crazy and unhinged. I would rather see them be progressive rather than comment on it. After that, it was much better. The plots were good but it didn't make me laugh as hard as season 1. I am a new fan I watched season 1 then went right into season 2. For Your Consideration is one of the greatest episodes of all time. It's up there with ADD The Last D is for Disorder and the Littering episode.

Probably my least favorite part is that sometimes the show takes itself too seriously when it’s supposed to be comedic parody (such as Joan and JFK’s relationship), as well as mischaracterizations of a few characters, but otherwise it’s an alright show. Just hoping for improvement! But I’ll be staying either way for Topher lol.

i overall liked it! the design of harriet is a liiiittle jarring, and the first few episodes weren’t all that stellar, but towards the end it really picked up well which has me hopeful for season 3. it left on a pretty good cliffhanger too. only thing i can genuinely complain about is that towards the end, some of the relationships felt a LITTLE rushed. i would have enjoyed seeing a bit more of frida freaking the fuck out around cleo, and i would have loved to have seen more buildup with harriet and confucius. i really enjoyed the whole thing between harriet and jfk though, i thought it worked out relatively well in the show. one of the things i liked the most about the original was that it was a parody of cheezy teen dramas, and there were for sure elements that felt like that. like joan and jfk holding a funeral for their breakup? and jfk humping the casket? fucking genius. the trope with musicals w jfk and harriet kissing for their roles and ACTUALLY feeling something with that? again, rehash of a basic teen drama situation. it has a lot of potential, and i really think season three is gonna do well.

Season 2 was a bummer, went out of its way to damage itself even with the loss of Gandhi they still got rid of characters like Toots for new ones that really don’t work. They aimed the series at TikTokers who got into the show just fine without being pandered to. Erica Ravinoja has shown herself to be a pretty bad showrunner, at least for Clone High.

It feels like the new season could just as well have been any other 2023 US animated comedy series. Despite having a few good jokes here and there, it completely lost touch with what it was.

I haven't seen the show properly but I can see why it's a cult classic, it's too adult for me, but I love some of the jokes. And as an Indian, I may not like some of how Gandhi is depicted, but I still think he's mostly a nice character. I get the whole joke is that, none of the clones are anything like their original counterparts, like how Joan in the show is nothing like the real Joan of Arc. So, I don't really feel negative on it. But that's just my opinion and this is important to understand, India is huge with an insanely large and diverse population. So regardless of what I say on the matter relating to Gandhi, there will be Indians who will say the opposite or might even agree with me. There will likely be no definite consensus, it will be a mix bag of responses and remember no group can represent an entire nation, especially India.

The biggest change I noticed which isn't nessisarily BAD, just different, is how they handle the plots of the episodes. In the original, everything was so over the top and happened so fast, the plot points aren't meant to be taken seriously, they're meant to be laughed at. It was so overly dramatic that the sheer ridiculousness of the situations gave them a certain charm. The new one takes the plots a bit more seriously and shelves some jokes, imo. The things that were played for laughs in the original seem to play themselves completely straight and want you to feel emotion while watching. Like, in the original, for example, in the first episod when Abe reveals it's non-alchoholic beer to save Gandhi and Joan from being arrested (as the only ones who could fit in the car) was so dramatic and such a dumb situation that it COULDN'T be taken seriously. In this one, however, Harriet and JFK kissing and thinking they have feelings for eachother, only to try again and decide they don't felt like it was written with the intention of being a legit plotline to get invested into, making it seem more dramatic than it actually is. I feel like in the original it would have been portrayed completely differently.

Season 2 of Clone High might not be that good regards to premise, but with everything happening with Candide and operation spread eagle makes the season more dark that season 1

I think the show is just fun to watch. Was it perfect? No. Did i expect it to be amazing, no, i was just excited it was back. It wasnt terrible or anything. Some weak moments and odd character beats, sure. But nothing about it was downright awful. I assume next season will really step it up more since they kinda needed to go well to hopefully set the bar for future seasons to be greenlit. Overall, id rather have it keep getting better, which it did over the season, but also it just to be back on the air again. Loved seeing the world of it all again.

Season 2 starts out badly, but it does gradually improve with each episode. Imo, Chris Columbus is the best new character in the show. He seems to fit well with the original cast, but the other new characters do not. Their designs contrast too heavily with the original art style, and their jokes don’t land as often.

The hunger strike about Gandhi was literally a bunch of people starving themselves because they didn't get a joke. The "Gandhi" character wasn't even supposed to be Gandhi. He was just supposed to be a clone so it was like, Gandhi's identical twin brother who was cryogenically frozen at birth so he never even personally meeting Gandhi and only hearing about him as a historical figure.

initially i was really excited about a second season but the way they went about this feels very off. what you said about joan was exactly what i was thinking but put in a better way, not sure why they decided to take that character in a route like this especially with a whole season behind this one that portrays a clear character. it kinda feels like they forgot what made the first season so good overall.

You simply cant recapture the style and feel of season one. Same with rebooting all shows from that time, it was a different vibe then. And they're always going to modernize the old shows. Even Beavis and Butthead, a show i adore old and new. Theres difference between them and they have the same guy working on both. I just want them to make new shows honestly.

I feel like, they're doing their best to try and balance both the needs of a new era, whilst trying to still appeal to the same values the show initially had. They needed to test the waters first, especially now more than ever considering it's history. I feel, (or at least hope,) that season three and beyond* will continue to improve upon the foundation they've laid out. Because I think they've laid out a pretty good one, sighting things _here_ or _there._ Like the animation being almost _"too smooth*_ I think it looks fantastic and does good service to the past season! But some of the charm of the snappy animation feels lost. Not allowing some of the slap-stick to *_slap_* as hard as it could.

Reintroduce John Stamos in season 3 we need more Stamos

I'm Watching this Show for the new Characters, Screw the old ones because they are nothing like they used to be-they are so out of character! The writers specifically made them boring and shallow so that new ones got more affection and i'm loving it! I still prefer the first clone high i just wish old characters didn't act so soulless and unrecognizable.

The new sound effects were really distracting it was like having an artificial laugh track. I feel like season 1 gave time to really absorb the humor and situations. Topher was the best of the new cast.

I felt like a lot of the comcepts of this season were really promising, but poorly executed. It's clear the creative team can make a good idea, it's just hard to actually make episodes with those ideas in the original clone high style of narrative

But no, Harriet is a control freak, Confucious wants to be popular, and Frida is just... cool. And there just those steroytypes that aren't even in dramas now. I watched the original for the first time and then immediately watched the second season, i feel like Abe is very out of character, the writing is very poorly done, the jokes like the frequent blood and stepping on beartraps bit was not very entertaining, felt like some plot points and twists had no build up at all, the best of the new characters is Topher Bus and man that cliff hanger is terrible man, hurts more than the original's cliff hanger, this new show kinda sucks dude Oh yeah and best episode is the thriller one about Mr B

I think as a show, it’s fine, but as Clone High season 2 it just doesn’t work. The show has all the properties of Clone High, but it’s just not it. The humor is the backbone of the series and it just can’t rival season 1’s. JFK just doesn’t act like himself anymore, Abe has so little to do, Joan has too much to do and none of it works, and Cleo is just completely downgraded from last season, even replacing her voice and making her a 1 dimensional mean girl. All the new characters fall flat, except Topher, his humor works. But Frida and Harriet just don’t belong in the show. And let’s not forget our man G-Spot, he will be missed 😢🥶.

It’s ok. It’s not bad. But it’s not good either tbh. Just very soulless. You can tell this was just an easy cash grab. People liked this show because it was like a time capsule from another time and with this new season. It took the magic out of what made the first season so good.

I disagree about Joan. Her progression is very natural from my experience with people like her. (Silly legs, aside) And I have to say, as an American, the "You can't say blackmail any more... How about.... ⚪ leveraging." from Columbus.... There's so many layers to that joke that it's pure genius.
