Mark and the insight he provides is nothing short of incredible and important and timely for millions across the world. NO ONE talks about any of these topics, nor do they understand the real need that many have for these teachings. I deeply appreciate that he doesn't 'spiritualize' or use 'spiritual bypassing' to cover up and avoid these deeper areas/struggling that so many are experiencing, and with no one to help guide them due to lack of knowledge. Just about every topic that he touches upon, has been my experience for more than three decades. I kept thinking and believing that if I read more, prayed more, believed more, had more faith, did more of all the 'right things', that these things would naturally go away and resolve themselves. What a HUGE & incredible falsity. What a grave misunderstanding of how God works and how we ultimately get healed and recover and transform. 💜💜💜

Mark your videos have been a godsend in the last few yrs as i navigate trauma counseling and EMDR. I realize I am looking for ways to avoid triggers rather than looking at it as an opportunity for redemption. The last 2 yrs have been so hard. But simultaneously I've grown so much. God bless you.

When I get triggered it is usually done by someone who is "gaslighting" me and then i go into rage monster. I much prefer to be around people that don't know how to push my buttons. Hence, I keep to myself.

1. Delay reaction to the trigger. Don't act on the impulse(s) to lash out or make the thing or person that triggered you the Focal point. It is Not really about that thing or person. 2. Begin practicing Unconditional love towards yourself. (begin learning to respond to yourself differently) 3. Take notice (become a witness) of your emotional life / experience. 4. Ask yourself: Is what I'm experiencing (feeling) representative of (mirroring) something similar (familiar) from my past? What is being signaled? 5. Black and white thinking is NOT helpful. Everything or Everyone is ALL good or ALL bad. Just be Aware of your tendency to think / interpret from this place. An Open perspective is much healthier and balanced because it allows room for all the gray in between. 6. Don't demand that others understand your experience (feelings). Your experiences are precious; stop 'casting your pearls before swine'. 7. Ask yourself: What am I believing about this situation/ experience that needs renewal (an alternative perspective on this experience)? What is HERE for me to learn so that I can begin practicing anew? 8. Learn to Practice (this is a process) renewed responses. Give yourself room and patience to learn practicing renewed responses. This insight and information is as precious as GOLD. Thank you, deeply, for your work and dedication, Mark. You're a gift ❤️

thanks for this video mark! it helped me a lot. i do have a question regarding the 3rd point. i agree that sometimes people can give you helpful or good advice but deliver it in a wrong way. i have struggled with religious ocd for years, i always obsess about whether it’s sinful for me to enjoy certain things like some secular artists or movies or whatnot. my family has come down pretty hard on me recently for enjoying a secular artist & continue to say it’s wrong of me to like her music as a Christian. it’s been a very painful experience and throws me into so many spirals. because my ocd takes it to such crazy levels and makes it so hard to think logically. i guess my question is, how do i know when their advice is sound and good, even if it’s delivered harshly? is it something that you just learn in time? sorry if this doesn’t make sense. thanks for the video!

Mark, when there’s something valid or important to communicate… how do you balance that. My partner is so uncomfortable with conflict or disagreement (or hearing feelings) that she shuts it down immediately-usually by pronouncing on the situation in a final, authoritative way that 1. invalidates and 2. stops the conversation. She then leaves or puts on headphones. It brings back the bad old scapegoating days of my FOO but it feels like confusing double duty to have to manage my own triggers and figure out when it’s OK to speak up when what’s said is valid (but auto- invalidated and urgently unwanted). It’s hard to figure out (again) what is ‘outside of me’ that needs to change in the relationship and what is ‘inside of me’ to manage…

19:30 - 20:15 If it's not seasoned with God's grace, how is it helpful, even if it is technically true? What about the whole concept of the spirit of law vs. the letter of the law?

If you receive the ill-spoken truth with your heart seasoned with God’s grace, it can be to your benefit even if the speaker didn’t have gracious intent. The Scriptures talk about all things being pure to those who are pure. For example, when a scientist talks about the wonder and complexity of the human body, I can receive that truth as an opportunity to praise God as Creator, even if the scientist was speaking from an evolutionist perspective. It’s like making lemonade when life gives you lemons :) Does that make sense?

@@hannahfurcinitti7808 Yes, it does. You can leverage the truth of what someone is saying without accepting the abusive way that they say it. Thank you for explaining. And I ask for your prayers for me to heal, so that I can receive any feedback humbly.

It seems like you put a huge amount of emphasis on self healing and seemingly make calling out to God for rescue a weakness. I'm not sure but it feels like you put more emphasis on psychology than on the power of God. Also sometimes we do have to take every thought captive and there is such thing as very real spiritual warfare going on in people's minds, you seem to downplay this perhaps a little too much. At one point you will refer to the thoughts as harmless and to be ignored yet another time you will call them bullies that you have to stand up to and fight. You're very rarely refer to the thoughts coming from the enemy or the flesh and in fact downplay this idea. I like your channel but the contradictions and the heavy leaning towards towards relying on self....... the very self that is the problem makes it more difficult to listen to.
