Great video. The second gen Prius is such great car for a few exceptions. If you’re even somewhat handy with tools or you want to challenge yourself, replace your cluster meter (what’s causing this issue) yourself. it cost about 120 bucks online and takes anywhere from 1.5 - 4 hours to replace. I can’t work on cars but I’ve been able to work on my Prius (excluding engine stuff) because it’s actually pretty easy to do.

This works, but instead do this sequence quickly but don't rush. Its less of a headache. 1 Push the start button once, 2. Open the drivers door, 3. Push the hazard light and turn on your headlamps. 4.Then depress the brake pedal and start the car normally. Your display will come on. Now you can start the car display without leaving the driver's seat. When the dash display blank you won't be able to open the trunk, which means folding down the passenger seat to climb in the trunk and removing the battery cover, which is hard in cramped quarters. It takes two hands to detach the clip. Then you have to put everything back in place.
