Just got mine done! Im on week 2 and not as bad as I though. The most annoying part is not walking on two legs. Pain was very low for me. Dont be scared ppl! I had the epidural instead of anesthesia w tube down throat. Happy I did! I just had the L hip done. Also mine was a bit different.. I am off crutches at 3 wk. Started PT at 2-3 days. I had fmla and pto for 2-3 wks depending and that was their recommendation. Im not sure if you had the micro fracture repair that some had w fai. I will say that for pre op appt bring whoever will be your caretaker so they can listen again. You will def appreciate someone helping you atleeeeeast 5 days post op but Id say 1 week is best. Im so happy I did this and was very scared. PS I did PT before while I had an injection but injection did not help 100% and didnt want to have to deal w more.

I'm meeting with my surgeon on Sept 12 2023. I have osteoarthritis of my riggt hip and knee. After months of physical therapy, & injections my hip pain was & is still getting worse , finally had an mri to confirm what I already knew, torn hip labrum. I don't know if it will just be hip arthoscopy, or if they will decide on hip replacement because the arthritis but I am only 39 and am "too young" for a new hip. So who knows, but I can't take this pain anymore. Every single day for years of pain. I was in a bad accident in 2016, another less severe accident in 2018 & prior to that a lot of physical abuse from dv 2009-2012. So it's constant, idk when this happened but I'm excited for it to go away

Hi! I'm in the same exact situation and I'm curious which surgery you ended up having if you don't mind sharing. I'm 39, 40 in July, and I was also told I'm too young for hip replacement. I see my surgeon in 3 days to schedule surgery. These were the findings of my mri with injected dye. Impression 1. Cortical bump involves the lateral femoral neck and head junction. This would predispose to cam-type femoral acetabular impingement. 2. Complex tearing involves the anterior and the superior lateral acetabular labrum. 3. Early/mild early osteoarthritic change right hip. 4. No fracture. No avascular necrosis. 5. Normal soft tissues about the right hip. No bursitis. Also, thank you to the op for sharing this! MY MRI does show a labral tear of the left hip,, but there many people that have a labral tear on their MRI without any sort of pain. I wonder how can know for sure if it is a labral tear or the joint itself? Lastly were was you have pain. Mine started in the hip flexors, then some times it would be low in the crease that I believe is the adductor or high up in the TFL region, that I now might be form not walking correctly, got a pretty bad limp on the left side and favor it when walking, How your doing super and got back your active life Thanks so very much

And, a little pain in my groin when I externally and internally rotate many times, sharp pain deep in hip flexor/ groin. Also, how did you know you needed surgery.. because sometimes they say surgery isn’t successful for that tear and it’s actually another underlying issue.
@anneke_yep2407 Жыл бұрын
One way to tell is to go to a sports medicine person who specializes in hips and shoulders. I had to get an mri with contrast and that showed a labral tear. As for the surgery, apparently if its in the hip it is most likely caused by the hip being misshapen. I have to get surgery soon bc im an athlete but if your not an athlete surgery isnt required and you can just do pt but it will never be healed without surgery.

@@umit777. i had it about 4 weeks ago. There was almost no pain for me other than side effects of anesthesia and pain killers. The side effects were really only dehydration, nausea and one instance of vomiting right after surgery but I’m just sensitive. If your hip is consistently bothering you then surgery at 39 should be fine. Moving around is really only difficult the first 2 weeks or less and I was able to drive within a week. I also highly recommend trying to find a surgeon who does this surgery frequently. You also don’t have to stay in the hospital overnight but definitely make sure someone is there with you to take you home because you will not be able to drive yourself back.

For example I shouldn’t go past 90 degrees with my hip until 6 weeks but that doesn’t change much, I can still drive and walk but just can’t pull my knees to my chest. When they do anesthesia for you, you really won’t remember much and honestly there isn’t much to worry about there. I was wondering if anyone knows what it feels like to have two labral tears in both your hips? All of a sudden I started to have pain my lower abdomen. And now have problems with my legs shaking and sitting for too long.
@janedoe30026 ай бұрын
Hi, I believe I have labral tears in both hips. I’ve seen a standard MD a few months ago and she suspected I had a torn labrum in my left hip. She referred me to an orthopedic surgeon because she said physical therapy would not help with how severe my pain already was. I started using crutches around the beginning of October 2023. I had a loss of range of motion in my left leg and it is stuck bent at a certain angle at all times. I got put on a waiting list just to get evaluated by ortho. My first appointment is Feb 2. During these last 4 months, I have not been able to walk without crutches, or hold a job, and my pain has only increased. Some days it is so severe I’m just stuck screaming and waiting for the pain to stop. I have to rely on my right leg most of the time to walk or go up stairs. My right leg didn’t have a single issue until December at some point and it just gave out. It developed the same symptoms as my left hip, just not as severe, but still baring any weight causes both my hips so much pain every single day. I can’t stand longer than 20 minutes at a time and I dread sleeping at night because everything hurts, no matter what position I lye in. It don’t help much putting a pillow between my legs or under my knees. The only things that help my hip pain is using ice blocks throughout the day and using a hot tub/hot springs. Showering is also incredibly hard on my hips. I would recommend a shower chair as standing causes me too much pain for the length of my showers. I’m going to tell ortho that my right hip started mirroring the same symptoms as my left, and I will see what he says. I still need to get an mri. X-rays didn’t show anything. You mentioned your lower abdomen developing pain and your legs shaking after sitting for too long. Last night while I was trying to sleep, my hips and legs could not get comfortable and my lower abdomen on my right side felt like the muscles were being pulled downward. It wasn’t painful, but it was noticeably uncomfortable. I too experience my legs shaking, but only while trying to sleep when I’m lying down. I think it’s the body trying to stretch out and get blood flow to those regions, but I could be wrong. Having labral tears in both hips at the same time is a special kind of torture, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I haven’t seen many videos of people with these injuries with more than mild to moderate pain. Perhaps my injuries are worse, because my pain is severe most days. Unfortunately I could not be seen sooner and had to go through with the waiting list.
@austingriner15656 ай бұрын
Thanks I did end up getting the surgery on one of them, and it was a pretty big tear. And yeah it is a special kind of torture. It took them 7 months to figure out what was wrong. And a fair warning on his surgery. They say you'll be up and walking in 2 weeks, you need help for about a month. The surgery did help but it was like learning how to walk again. In 3 months before I could walk without pain in the left one. So keep that in mind, it does take long to recover. And if you have to take painkillers whatever to physical therapy exercises.

I can't speak to her specifically but impingement (mentioned in the description) is when the bone is formed improperly on the femoral head, the acetabulum, or both. It's believed that most people have these deformities from birth, but heavy use can cause labral tears and other issues (like for me, I have numerous fractured bits from both sides having extra bone growth and smashing jntk each other, so loose bone pieces in the joint plus a tear) Most insurances do require PT before they'll consider surgery. You can read more about it here: www.google.com/amp/s/www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/hip-impingement%3famp=true
