I didn't know the girl personally, but a girl named savannah died when she was minding her own business in her small car behind a semi truck. The semi, of all vehicles, no trailer on the back of it, started backing up, trying to break check her and very quickly too, and the back semi tires flattened the front of her car, then her skull as she didn't have any time to try to get out of the way. Break checking is wrong in smaller vehicles, but a semi doing so, is even worse. I hope the driver rots in hell for that

Mine had a couple: -One student in my grade passed away from a pill overdose. -A couple security guards, including one who was popular with the kids despite his strict enforcement of the unpopular dress code, passed due to a heart attack or stroke in the middle of the year. -The sister school in our district, just one town over, had a house fire where a couple students perished.

My school tragedy, the quiet kid who was in every club, certified in CPR and sports injuries who patched up a lot of football players before they were wheeled out to the ambulance and even made friends with popular kids and their parents for his actions passed away from a heart attack in his sleep two weeks after homecoming of our senior year. That was a massive funeral. He was the spitting image of the silent hero.

My school's tragedy took place my senior year. My best friend had died from the flu after fighting lukemia for 7 years and had just achieved remission when she got the flu. It was so horrible. But its worse. Several months later, the school's best friend, Zach, had died. He had slipped and fell off of a cliff while trying to take a picture of the scenery to send to his girlfriend. This was a week before graduation.

Something I think fits this video quite well, that I also feel has been becoming more true lately is the phrase “the brightest stars burn the fastest” there’s so many stories of absolutely incredible people dying so young, or having a traumatic experience that completely changed them. This happened to someone extremely close to me, they were very nice, kind, and so many other good things but after a traumatic event before even adulthood they’ve just become a shell of their former selves, they’re still like they used to be sometimes, but more often they’re super depressed, anxious, and confrontational, really sad to see

We had two tragedies at my school. It was a private owned boarding school where we could bring animals with us if we wanted to. Many brought their horses (it was an agriculture school and half the school was more focused on horses, therefore many students brought horses). On a sunday around 6pm all students and parents got a text from the school that an accident had occurred at the school. No one thought much about it until about 30 minutes later when we got a second text which said that the accident had resulted in one student dying. We later found out that she was bringing her friend’s horse inside and one of the two horses (unclear which one) spooked and ran over her. The horse stepped on her leg, stomach and her head. She had some friends with her and they tried to save her but when we got information the day after they said that she died instantly. I didn’t know her well but I will never forget the moments we got those texts, I was sitting on the train going back to the school. I was there with some friends and we were all shocked. I had two very close friends who were at the school during the weekend and I texted one of them immediately but they didn’t know anything. My friends on the train found out which area of the school had happened and that there was a horse involved. That was the moment I truly started panicking because my other friend still at the school had a horse near where the accident happened. I texted her but didn’t get an answer for quite some time. I just sat there in some sort of panicked state not saying anything until my friend answered. She had walked by just minutes after it happened and had to help with getting an ambulance and everything. Lessons were cancelled the day after but we had a mourning time that everyone showed up to, some people even giving speeches. The other tragedy at my school was one teacher who was very liked got sick around april/may in my first year. It was in the beginning of covid so we had online school and he could do some lessons but not all. He never talked about it much but we all knew it was quite bad. When school started after the summer he wasn’t there. It took about 3 days before students found out that the school had fired him because he was sick. One former student had made a facebook post calling out the school for how horrible they were to fire him when he had done so much for the students. He was the type of teacher you could go to if you had a problem, he joked about during lessons and was willing to listen if we had something to say. I have always been shy but he really made sure everyone got to speak their mind. When we got news of his passing everyone was sad. Some students and some teachers didn’t show up for a couple of days because they just couldn’t get to school and be reminded of him. He was the first teacher I spoke to when I started, the one to show me my room and where everything was. I will always remember him. Rest in peace Roger

My high school tragedy was that I chose the wrong high school. My country had some experimental system of specialized high schools and I chose the wrong one...A kid who is 14 years old can't always make smart decisions...But I corrected that mistake when I went to the university, I choose wisely, so I finished at the university the subject which I liked, and I found work that I like to work, something that I think is important.

*Serious* A very good and sweet friend of mine I had since we were toddlers unexpectedly died in May 2020. During quarantine our sophomore year had ended early in April after numerous delay dates. She and one of her friends were hanging out and went riding around on a ATV. They either weren’t wearing seatbelts or there had no seatbelts to begin with. But she jumped a curve which toppled the vehicle over, sending them both flying out of from the top. The roll cage landed on her chest which knocked her out. I lived about 2 miles away from the road she was on and remembered hearing sirens drive by not long before my mother came into my room and told me the situation. Me and the rest of her couldn’t do anything more than pray and hope she would survive. Because of the outbreak, all of the nearest hospitals were completely full of Covid patients, so she had to be airlifted to Tyler, TX which was 2 hours away. Unfortunately she passed on the way there. This completely killed her parents, her boyfriend, and the friend she was with. I never seen anyone change so suddenly before in my life. It was very hard to see them like this. RIP Laney Parker

Our high school experience was sandwiched with deaths. Freshman year, a classmate died in a rollover crash on main street. He was the only death, and several others were injured. Senior year, a classmate died of meningitis. They were both such beautiful souls. Freshman mate was the class comedian, always working to put a smile on people's faces. Senior mate was that guy you would swear must be gay... as far as anyone knew, he was straight, though... but he was super positive and encouraging, always pushing people to be their authentic selves. Such wonderful people who are deeply missed. I barely knew either of them, but I still get sad whenever I think about them. 😢

The year before I started at my high school, a student committed suicide, then his two best friends built a memorial garden in his honor. Within the next year, both students were killed in separate, completely unrelated car accidents. The garden was then dedicated to all 3 of them. Also, in middle school, my 7th grade English teacher died from choking to death on a sandwich.

Not a school story, but the first story reminded me of my dad. He passed away from cancer in 2021. At his memorial service, we requested that people wear either blue or Hawaiian shirts. Blue was for the L.A. Dodgers since he was a big fan. Hawaiian shirts were just a him thing. He owned about ten of them. We were mourning, but we were also celebrating that he was no longing in pain. Those last few months on hospice were really difficult for everyone.

My highschool tragedy happened to me. I got sick with *Glandular Fever (Epstein-Barr Virus)* when I was 15 & just never got better - even getting worse in recent years in what became the neuropathic/neuroendocrine disease, *Fibromyalgia.* Despite trying my damnedest to do year 11, I never graduated high-school beyond year 10 & though I did eventually get some qualifications through TAFE, never got to go to university to become a Biologist like I'd always wanted. Living with a chronic illness changes you in ways I can't describe. I never got to have many of the typical milestones that almost everyone else experiences over the course of their life & have endured more muscle & joint pain than anyone could ever comprehend. Worst of all, I had friends & family who just couldn't understand my situation - no matter how many times I tried to explain. I lost track with many of my friends over the years. If you say "Sorry, I can't come over, I'm too fatigued/in too much pain," often enough, eventually people just stop asking, then you give up trying to have a relationship seeing someone a couple of dozen times a year. I've made new friends, of course, and have adapted as best as possible to my condition, but I guess I'll always be a bit bitter at how my life turned out - especially when reminded of how things might have gone...

@@Ayshlei Unfortunately, no. Technically Fibromyalgia is a genetic disease that's triggered to an active phase by a severe viral infection, or other incidence of prolongued intense stress. Once it's full blown Fibro, you just have to learn how to live with/endure it. It's been several decades since high school & although the availability of medical treatment has significantly improved, my condition has worstened as I age. I'm just happy to live in Australia, with our Public Medical System, Medicare & the PBS, otherwise I'd be screwed. I think this happened during my Junior Year, but there was a science teacher who had lost both her husband and 10-year-old son in a plane crash. The next year, she taught only half of the class during the year before she retired early and a new teacher had replaced her. Her attitude during the year that she retired was rather unusual, it was the type of happiness that was hiding an emotional pain that was unimaginable. That same year she retired, I was apart of a share-time program in another school. A Sophomore from that school suffered a heart attack during a hockey game and passed away from it. His cause of death was ruled as congestive heart failure. While I personally did not know the dude, many others did know him, and many mourned him.

A truck driver had fell asleep at the wheel (don't know if they had been on a night shift as our school started far earlier than the others in our area) and had hit two of the kids. One died in not long after and the other lost both his legs, the third was witness. She wasn't the same afterwards, have no idea what's happening to her now though. It may not be as bad as you think. But whatever happens, bullies and arseholes Do NOT like confident and selfsame, nonplussed and "not scared at their routine" shtick. That said mine was s friendly and safe enough school compared to others. Enough rednecks that knew other rednecks weren't there that if someone went hard with a weapon... well there was always some kind of hunting season that students could "accidentally" leave their shotgun out rifle in their car. Your own mileage may vary but basically ] don't be an arsehole, help others if you can ] stand up for yourself. Bullies don't like confident victims and any violence against you is an adult. Where they can be arrested for ] colleges don'tgenerally care about detentions but only try to get THOSE IF you have no choice and need to support yourself or a friend in need. ] no one owes you Anything and you aren't any more special than the rest ] start working on your career NOW. Get your path of school during and after high school set up and do something you want. If you can make money from it even better. But earlier on that you can prep the better. And don't be afraid to change if you find out the thing isn't a good fit for you. You choose a lifetime career at 14/15 for Christ's sakes. You don't know as much as you do now. ] make friends with EVERYONE, you never know how knowing a friend can help you, but as importantly someone else knowing you and asking a favor. Life is nothing but trading favors between everyone. Remember even Half this and it will help a lot. Good luck.

My schools tragedy happened last year. Two kids at my school got in a car accident. One was dead on the scene and the other was in the hospital for just over a week until he passed. Everyone was heartbroken over it. Everyone knew of them as our community is very tight knit,, so once they passed we all got together to mourn and celebrete their lives. To this day we still honor them. I remember shortly after they passed a bunch of students and a few teachers made memorials in the school displays. It really pissed me off this year when I came back and the memorials were gone. The saddest part of this is that both kids who passed were a couple and would be high school sweethearts. I believe they'd be seniors this year and I am hoping they do something for them at graduation to honor them. The boy was in one of my classes. We knew each other. We talked. We shared snacks and joked. So I was in complete shock when he passed. His girlfriend I barely knew,, but she knew my dad because she worked at a resturant he goes to a lot before work to get coffee. I saw her at school sometimes but other than that I never knew her enough. Ever since their passing I made sure to stop being silent and awkward. I stopped being quiet because life is too short. I had many suicide attempts before too and I dont think Ive had one since then. Ive had small relapses but not an attempt. Life is short,, enjoy it. Go tell your family you love them. Do what you want because you dont know what day will be your last. One day you'll be at school with friends messing around in class and the next you'll be gone. Fly high you two (not saying names just for privacy sake,, I dont wanna put myself in danger by saying any names because yes this incident did make the news)

Honestly the only thing I can think of close to a 'school tragedy' but was really more of a 'community tragedy' was my neighbour. Used to play with him and his little sister when we were real little. Anyway, his mom came down with breast cancer when we were all still pretty young, maybe 11 or 12...The first time around, she fought it, and I think went into remission. But it came back our senior year, and this time it was incurable. I barely knew him anymore at that point, but even I could tell he changed DRASTICALLY. Got a lot quiter, lot more aloof and standoffish; angrier. By the last month of the school year, he had pretty much stopped showing up to class entirely. I don't think I saw him smile once for the rest of that year, when I did see him. I don't even remember if he graduated or not. His mom lived for another year or two, and they moved away right before she passed. She was 48. It was very sad.

Instead of the teacher we expected, we were greeted by a substitute. The following pre-calc class, the same thing. Four or five times we walked in to be greeted with the same sub. Nobody knew what was happening until around Christmas, probably a month later. Our teacher had passed away unexpectedly. Some time after the news I looked down at the bookshelf next to me and noticed someone had scrawled “Free *teacher’s name*” into the wood, obviously written when we didn’t know what the heck was going on.

Two happened in my school... 1. Back when I was in year eight, there was this history teacher. I don't think he was well liked by students, but I thought he was awesome. On the eleventh of October 2021, we were called into an assembly, I got lost and didn't know where to go. As I was looking for the hall, I overheard some girls saying, "Did you hear? Apparently, Mr. W died, " I thought to myself that It wasn't true. Some other girls who knew me helped me find the hall, and when I walked in there, my heart sank... he had died. I held back my tears until after the assembly, then one of the staff came to check on me, I broke. A boy in my year group came to see if I was ok, I had to take the rest of the day off. Rest in peace, sir. 2. A sixth-form girl (I didn't personally know her) fell off of a cliff while walking her dog. Apparently, she was well known and liked by many. As I mentioned, I didn't know her, but it's still sad to hear about.

He survived that first crash, stole a cruiser, and continued his rampage. But only those 5 in that car were killed. He was stoned and attempting suicide. He survived and got sentenced to 30+ years.

my exs best friend committed suicide the day before Christmas eve of 2022. Not much information was given to the public but from what I know is that he was in foster care, had autism and likely faced bullying in high school. My high school did nothing for those who were bullied which is likely why it happened. Everyone in my school was devasted. Edit to add another: I recently heard from a friend who is still in high school that the Spanish teacher has passed from undisclosed reasons. She has a family and was one of the most loved teachers in my school

This is weird but I remember our graduating class saying "we are the first class in many years that did not have someone die" I think our HS lost about 4 people during the time I was there--car crashes, a house fire, etc. That was back in 1990. As I grew up I have heard of the tragic passing of a few from my class--breast cancer, brain aneurism, accidents, heart disease, , and so forth. None mentioned lived long enough to celebrate their 50th birthday, some did not even make it to 40. There was a girl that died of breast cancer at only 37. Tomorrow is not a guarantee. Live every day knowing it very well could be one of your last.

My high school tragedy took place the year after I graduated but the schools librarian disappeared and his body was discovered some time later under highly suspicious circumstances that pointed towards it being a homicide and for the next decade that was all I knew of it. During this year while watching unsolved mysteries on Netflix I saw one of the episodes featured my home area and was surprised to see his case was the topic of the episode and that’s how I learned more about the case. Regretfully his case is still unsolved and is likely to remain that way.

Kid decided to sit in a shopping cart and hang on to a car in a Jackass type stunt and the car went 25 mph, hit a speed bump, and the kid got lauched hitting the pavement head on and died on impact. The whole school cancelled classes that monday and held a funeral service for him.

Happened the year after I graduated but a student and a teacher from my school died during the yearly junior ROTC boot camp. Part of the boot camp was a river rafting trip. There is one specially dangerous spot on the river with a whirlpool at the end of the trip and a student fell into it. An instructor tried to drive in to get the out only to be taped themselves and the both drowned.

A teachers husband was killed in a bad car wreck, another teacher’s son died earlier that week. Then a lot of former students from my school died, one from cancer, one from being shot, another suicide, another cancer n hiv, n another cancer. Probably more things but those are the main ones I remember

My senior year of high school we lost 3 of our classmates. One passed away from an enlarged heart that caused him to have a heart attack while running from the cops. Him and another one of my classmates had been at my older cousins house drinking that night. The cops tried to pull them over and he bailed from the truck as soon as they were stopped. The combination of alcohol, his enlarged heart and the adrenalin caused him to have a heart attack. He fell and hit his head on a rock and died. This was just a couples of days before we were to graduate. Shortly after graduation, 2 other students were headed to a dance at another school and they lost control of the car and ended up in an irrigation canal. They both drowned. 😢😢😢😢😢 it was a very rough couple of weeks leading up to and after our graduation that year. I knew all 3 of them very well cause I grew up in a very small town. My dad was good friends with the dad of the boy who was in the car accident. I have known them my whole life, and I played softball with the girl in the car accident. It was such a sad time during a time that should have been happy.

In elementary school, just before we went to middle school, there was a trailer fire that killed one of my classmates and his siblings. And basically every major event in the school after that, in terms of graduations and other milestones, there would be a little memorial movement for those kids.

Not High School but grade School. In 2000. The brother of a schoolmate. Despite his bg of been a heavy drinked by his age and bad crowd, he was a cool dude when i meet him. He was basically shameless about having naked woman posters on his room. Once i stay at my classmate's home for an assignment. He slip a VHS for us while he went with his friends, the VHS was pron. For a Teen whos hormones was high was the best. Then it came that fateful day. It was my classmate's b-day and i should been the last picked up by car by him and his dad. I didn't go because of sickness and because of doesn't had for a gift by sheer coincidence. Later my mom revealed it wasn't only that, is as if that day, my mom had a very awful gut feeling something will happen. A day later i learn he and his dad got an accident on the way back to the party. Tragedy was for my classmate since he will remember his b-day as the day his brother died, in my case it was one of the bullet dodge case i ever had.

😔 The Weekend and the following Monday were terrific. I spent time doing homework first thing Saturday Morning to get it knocked out before going fishing with my dad. We didn't catch a thing though. Sunday, we went to church and we spent the day hanging out as a family. Monday was an average day. Went to Spanish Class and actually all my classes, matched in the warm early fall but there was a chilly breeze. Tuesday, something's up. Apparently a popular member of the varsity football team committed suicide. He was dating this other senior, her friends acted like pilot fish around a shark, following her around to keep her day easy. The Principal was descended from our town's first mayor and his family had a big presence in our small community. The priest from the local mosque and the pastors from every church in town were called in to talk to students and observe the situation. The middle school counselors came from across the street and a couple therapists and the local grief counseling services came as well. An emergency assembly was called. No band, so we got to sit on the bleachers. The Principal, Varsity Coach, The guy's father and his teachers made a few short speeches about his life and during this time we freshmen were opposite of the seniors and saw his girlfriend burst into tears. Three of her friends tried to comfort her while the others cleared the way to the gym floor. She passes out. The health teacher calls for the nurse and the nurse rolls her away in a wheelchair and she goes home. Never knew what happened to her afterwards. My neighbor was great friends with the guy and he didn't talk.

A student's mom got murd3red. The case got closed as a su1c1de, but everyone knew it couldn't be because the way she was found by her own daughter (14-15). One student in my grade but different class committed h@nged themself. 3 month in coma, than died. Covid hit in. It sucked. Also a student's brother got hit by a drunk driver while going to the dorms of his uni he just got in. The accident happened the previous night of the start of his first classes.

I know this is not high school but close enough, during lunch me and my friend’s were laughing and just eating our lunch then out of nowhere one of the special kid’s feel on the ground shaking it looked like he hit his head on the seat and was bleeding from the mouth all kid’s on that side of lunch were put outside, the kid was very kind and everyone basically knew or heard of him. Luckily he lived but everything happened so fast and his sister was on my bus I could only imagine what she went through that day.

This isnt something ive had in high school, rather this happened years ago in elementary. This story has a good ending though. Just to create sone light for people here During 3rd grade a kid I used to interact with occasionally had gotten diagnosed with cancer. I didnt really know much about their diagnosis since i wasnt that close. All i knew was that it was deadly and she almost had no chance of living. She was 9. Barely even reaching double digits before being hit by something so deadly. The whole school did a fundraiser supporting her and all we hoped was for the best. I didnt understand the importance at that time because I was still young. I remember we would sit together sometimes in the bus. She did live but ever since then she has has permanent after effects (at least thats what I think, it could be another disorder being put at play but who knows) Her voice became more hoarse, and all the classes I have with her the teacher needs to put on this band around their neck with a device in order for her to hear clearly on what theyre saying. Despite all of this shes probably the most smartest person I know. Straight A's. Cancer tried killing her but shes still walking.

Sadly, I have a story like this myself. I was just 13 years old at the time. For added context, I wasn't exactly starting that particular school year in the best place mentally, as the summer before, my best friend who I grew up with (he was much more like a brother to me than a mere friend) had to move away with his family when his father's job transferred him. I cried myself to sleep the day he and his family moved away. And despite my best attempts to keep in touch, we lost contact....and even now almost 18 years later I haven't seen or spoken to him since, though I would dearly like to find and reunite with him someday. But....to the tragedy itself. I had just started 6th Grade, and I was still reeling from suddenly not having my best friend in my life anymore, when I met this new kid and just really hit it off with him. For whatever reason the two of us just "clicked". He wouldn't ever fill the void left by my best friend, but still, his cheer and friendliness helped. And then, one morning as my mom is driving me to school on her way to work, she hears something on the radio about my school and brings it to my attention. They were talking about a student at my school who had died, though I do not believe his name was actually mentioned. To this day, I remember and am haunted by the exact words I said in response: *"It's not going to be anyone I know."* ....I was wrong. It was my new friend. In less than a year, I had lost one of the few real friends I had....twice. The school cancelled all classes and would not be handing out homework for the day, but I didn't care about any of that. My new friend was gone. Just like that. I cried. I spent the entire day crying my eyes out, and the only small mercy is that my school bullies were actually leaving me alone for once. And I was still crying when I finally got off the bus to go home, and as soon as I walked in the door, my dad was there waiting for me (in all likelihood he'd seen me crying and figured I'd been bullied again). When I told him what had happened, he just hugged me and held me until I had no more tears left. And the way he died, is perhaps even more heartbreaking. The day before he'd been with another friend of his, whom was a 10th Grader at the same school, and his friend found a handgun laying on the ground that later turned out to have been stolen. And his friend foolishly attempted to unload the weapon instead of calling the police to let them handle it, and in the process the weapon discharged and shot my new friend right in the head, killing him instantly. So now his friend has to live with the knowledge and guilt that his friend is dead because of him.

My high school tragedy, well it was the last year of high school it was just two weeks before mid terms exams when we heard of the coming of a super typhoon, we had many such come our way but none prepared us for this particular storm, it wasn't the wind that got us but the flood that accompanied it, for weeks after we had to clean the house of the mud that came in our food stocks were desecrated as the force of the water ruined the canned food and all the carbohydrates absorbed the salty sea water making it all unedible. After which we had to go to our cousin's place a one hour flight to a different city and they let us since my grandma got hypothermia three days from getting wet and with our City’s power out and no heating it was an issue as well as all local hospitals were out of order since all equipment amd their generators were kaput they had to make a mini clinic to provide medical aid on the site of a hotel that had it's generators survive the flooding, I had not known what happened in school and we stayed in my cousins house in their city for the rest of the year and until late January when we were told that classes will resume in february, as a graduation gift even with months without classes the board decided to forego exams and just let us all graduate and as if a frick them specifically only one of my classmates died in our whole school 1/800 students (40 per class*5 classes per year level * 4 year levels) this is not including our grade school division in which it would be around 2000 students in all, he was a very popular guy, varsity in basketball, friendly and the guy next to the guy who was valedictorian in grades anyway since he adied way before half way thru the school year he wasn’t supposed to be in the roster for graduating students but with student protest we invited his father and sister who recieved his diploma for him they were emotional as the two was separated since his dad was with his sister in another part of the country, he's one of those who can work anywhere as long as there's internet and she was in college at the time so they were safe while the younger one and their mom drowned in the flood which was sad as their bodies weren't found until much later, another thing that happened was one of our nice teachers couldn’t stand the current situation an bailed she apparently married and hopped to another country, she was a nun, in context our school was one of those private catholic schools and two faculties who were disabled due to injury quit the high school division and went grade school, we used to have a service elivator for disabled students and teachers but since the flood it wasn’t usable, they preferred the grade school rooms which were just on the ground floor so for the rest of the year we had no teachers for 3 subjects, and it so happened to be my favorite subjects and or teachers. Also several of us had major ptsd after that which weren't addressed sooner since the city was in shambles so we had to bottle it up for so long, i didn’t get help until I got to college and spoke to the school counselor about the events that year

Story 5: The student who changed their own grades obviously should have been punished, but the punishment should have stopped with that student, or at least been greatly reduced for the other students, due to mitigating circumstances.
