President Biden will withdraw all American troops from Afghanistan over the coming months, U.S. officials said, completing the military exit by the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that drew the United States into its longest war.
Biden’s decision comes after an administration review of U.S. options in Afghanistan, where U.S.-midwifed peace talks have failed to advance as hoped and the Taliban remains a potent force despite two decades of effort by the United States to defeat the militants and establish stable, democratic governance. The war has cost trillions of dollars in addition to the lives of more than 2,000 U.S. service members. At least 100,000 Afghan civilians have been injured or killed.

You can’t fix Afghanistan without “fixing” Pakistan. All this time Taliban was waiting for this moment under Pakistani protection

Trillions of dollars wasted so the military industrial complex could expend it's old weapons and ordinance to make room for new ones.

So, this is our legacy in Afghanistan. A bunch of dusty old bulidings and some destroyed vehicles. The real loss wont be a visible land mark, American blood will forever stain Afghanistan

What did we leave behind? Billions of dollars worth of weapons and vehicles from m9 beretta pistols to Abram Tanks to Attack helicopters to Fighter jets all of which will replace aging Kalashnikov in the hands of terrorists worldwide for decades, Many pieces of equipment and documents containing top secret machinery and documents, and the worst of all the minds bodies and souls of the Americans we sent to fight. Many came back with debilitating mental conditions, horrific scars crippling them for the rest of life, and many souls were unable to return at all. Multiple generations of American boys fresh out of High School were scarred by this conflict for nothing.

The parallels with Vietnam are so strong. Repeating mistakes is unforgivable when the collateral is young men’s lives.

I cant even imagine being a veteran and loosing friends there and this. But with hindsight we should of never gone into Afghanistan to begin with.
