My mom always planted radishes with the carrots. She said the radishes marked the rows and were done before the carrots.

We also remove all the plants at the end of the growing season to keep the ground pest free. We also have been tilling the garden for over 25 years. Glad to see you also follow the old ways of gardening. This is the way my grandmother tought me and allows us to can many items to get us through the year. Love the gum trick I'm going to have to try it. Happy gardening.

Enjoyed thr planting today even though I'm unable to garden any longer. I would love a visit the boys in the woods to see what there up to. Looks fun and interesting! I raised five boys and often played with them as they learned to be creative. Play is often the hardest work we ever do!❤

I love the way you include the kids in everything, so your heritage lives on. Your boy with their fort reminded me of my brother and me. The first fort we made was weed fort and we had so much fun in it. He usually didn't mind hanging around with me until he'd be with his friends, He was the only boy with 3 sisters, and I was the youngest. My sisters were "to old" to hand around me and they didn't bother with the brother, so he & I were pretty close. Thank you for sharing all you do; you are so blessed.

I'm in my 70's and have went barefoot all my life. Now I live in Senior apts and they have rules that you have to wear shoes. I kick them off as soon as I get in my apartment...lol. I see you are in the garden with bare feet...you go girl! We weren't born with shoes on, right...lol. My husband used to tell me that he'd seen cows with softer feet😊. I have super calluses, but, when they get too bad, I have a foot soak that disolves them quickly...

An old trick to avoid mice eating your pea seeds is to soak them in petrol for a few minutes before planting them. They might take one but they won't eat another 😊

Good morning RuthAnn! I'm so excited to watch the first gardening video of the season! Starting with quality seeds and if your seeds are washing out then your garden is in the wrong place.

A solution to the voles eating pea seeds which a neighbour suggested is soaking the seeds in petrol (gasoline) briefly before planting them; the voles are disinterested in them and when they germinate they aren't affected by the petrol, ostensibly. :)

I went to your(link) your favorite linen fabric company online. It’s nice but they’re closed for a bit. We would like to know the name of the color and style of the exact fabric you used (making your apron) on the video where you show us how to make e your Amish style apron. I sure can’t locate the color and the fabric with the stripes on it. I did look in yarn dyed area and saw some stripes but not yours. all of those had white and a color, we want dark colors to hide the food and dirt that gets on the aprons. Please let all of us know how to order your fabric, there’s lots of us that would like to make our apron with the same fabric as yours, please reply😊God bless you and your family.

I am committing to adding potatoes (trial-as its my first time) and carrots this year. Otherwise we aren't really expanding or adding new. Keeping to crops I'm familiar with and trying to get to know and grow better. Potatoes and carrots scare me though! We tried carrots off an on for years but being more careful this year (the three year old helped me plant last year...we did a lot of baby carrot eating/thinning 😂 ). Love your videos they are so helpful! This is my 4th year gardening in earnest.
