I was very surprised at how good Michigan's D line was. That unit won the game.

If Michigan special teams were not nervous this game would not have been that close Alabama on the other hand with the squad they have this season I think its a miracle they made it this far

Bama's O-Line was horrible, as it has been all season. Milroe was sacked 5 times in the 1st half alone. Snap issues between him and the center multiple times throughout the game, as the center was trying to snap and get ready faster. The running game was decent, but the passing game was terrible. Michigan's defense played better than Bama's offense, and that's what decided the game ultimately.

I love how that last play was so bad that nobody can be clear on what the actual call was.

Hard to think of any other college football team that has ever faced more distractions during a season than this UofM team. I don't think we have seen a team this resilient.

Bama fan here. Congrats to Michigan they played a great game. Both offensively and defensively. I think the game could have gone very differently on both sides but that’s how it goes. Michigan came out on top this time. On our end a lot of work to do cleaning up the O-line for next season and hopefully Tommy Rees finds a new program to call home. His firing would be the first I did this morning if I was coach Saban. lol hopefully that also includes a center who can actually snap the ball 😂

Both defenses were amazing. Our offense just couldn’t capitalize because of our center and o line. Michigan was just the better team yesterday and wanted it more.

Michigan and Washington are older, more experienced, have been playing together longer, have team unity and played like heavy weight fighters

Bama scraped by several games this year, but their luck finally ran out! Saban was out coached!

Alabama did play well despite its defense often failing to quickly to adapt quickly to Michigan's ever-changing offensive strategy. I saw 2 Bama games this season which underwhelmed me as they were lucky to narrowly scraped by with a one-point victory against relatively unknown teams. With that baggage, I considered Bama to be lucky to be included in the top 4.

Surviving Bama after two muffed punts is insane. Play clean and UM should win the title. Play nervous again and UW really might take this.

For the most part, Bama fans have been very gracious in defeat and have been giving credit where its due.... But I am seeing this same comment on these threads that their Center gave Michigan the game. Why do you think he was nervous and constantly miss snapping?? Hmmmm do you think maybe its because he was lined up across a defensive line that was destroying him all game?? Oh no.... It cant be that. He was shook. Plain and simple.... focused more on snapping faster than with actual technique to get a quicker start on his blocks.

Both teams made mistakes that helped the other team. Michigan had a great game plan to take advantage of their strength in the trenches, that's why they won.

Alabama's loss and near loss during the season suggested they were beatable. On Monday, their running game was fairly good, but throwing was not. The problem with the snaps did not help them. The shifting motion, and imbalance up front by Michigan, had Alabama's defense often confused. Michigan's special teams were terrible (they've been solid all year), defense was very good and the secondary held bama to 117 passing yards. The offense made mistakes, but they came back with a minute and a half left and tied it to win the game in o.t. This team has grit and character. Offensive and Defensive coordinators for Michigan had solid plans for the game. Overall, Michigan was the better team and deserved the win.

I will say this…..Alabama offensive play calling was puzzling. I don’t understand why they didn’t continue to run the ball in the 4th when they were averaging nearly 5 yds a carry. Once they got a false start all the sudden they had to pass the ball…

Despite a terrible first half we has a 7 point lead with 4 minutes left and our D couldn't make a stop. There's just no excuse for that.

the stunts/twists shouldn't have come as a surprise to alabama; the DL coach elston's entire resume reflects how his DL's produce using stunts & twists. the job the UM DC did deserves more credit than you want to give him.

Sainristil was around the edge on Milroe left right after the snap. There was no where to go for Milroe

Hate to say it, but Saban should be ashamed of himself. All the 5* recruits he gets every year, and he can't beat a team that gets one, or maybe two on a real good year. Michigan won because, from top to bottom, they out coached Alabama.

I watched that last play and there was no way Bama could throw the ball as every receiver was covered man-for-man. Furthermore, the QB didn't pay attention to any receiver. He stuck to the game plan and charged straight forward but, unfortunately, there were no holes for him to go through. All in all, I would say that both teams matched one another. It was not a blowout like the Michigan-Ohio State game. Bama matched Michigan's intensity better, and had it not been for the stupid fumble in the first quarter by the Michigan's special teams that turned into an easy Bama touchdown, Michigan could have prevailed more significantly. But, because of Bama's tough showing, I'd say #1 is Michigan and Bama is a close #2 (but also, a less possibility, Washington sharing #2) for this season.

Why are we talking like this was an amazing football game? It wasn't the worst, but it was far from amazing. Alabama would have only had like 10 points if Michigan didn't make so many mistakes. Milton played very poorly and clearly we got to see first hand why Alabama didn't really deserve to be in over FSU or Georgia.

In essence...Michigan utilized the 30 days to bring something new to the table in their passing game. Bama didn't, they had no new creativity on offense, combine that with chronic bad snaps...that gave Michigan the edge.

Bama's O line and Secondary have been bad for three years. I think they need to bring in a established QB from the portal to make Milroe elevate his game. I think beating Georgia in Atlanta was their Natty.

Alabama was never a real championship contender outside of the media hype because they've had a terrible QB. They won games despite Milroe making game melting dumb plays, running into sacks and just having terrible field vision. It's easy to make deep completions when your WR has torched his defender.

What happened is Alabama got beat by a better team. They were close to being a three game loser is regular season. The corruption in the NCAA managed to stick them in the playoff cause the powers that be had to have an SEC team in the four.

Nothing was wrong with Bama. This is who they were all year. The best team in the SEC lost to Alabama. People need to remember that in football, it’s one and done. It’s not a best of seven like other sports so the best team does not always win. Georgia is the SEC best, and Bama showed you who they are just like at Auburn. Both teams made mistakes all day, you cannot just talk about the Bama mistakes as why they lost, and take it as a given that Michigans mistakes meant nothing. If Michigan makes no mistakes and Bama makes none, results the same or a Michigan blow out.
