I've had mine about 6 or 8 months and I love it! I bought a different seat that is softer because I use it as a cruiser. I rarely pedal. There is a lot of power in this bike. I'm 6' and 200 lbs and it goes up hills no problem with no pedaling. Pedaling helps on hills so I recommend it. I haven't had it on anything steep yet. I was worried about the weight at 75 pounds or more but I don't notice it at all.

Great review, thank you! Can someone help explain the shifter gears for me? What purpose would say shifting into an "8" be needed vs a "4"? And would those pedal assist modes have much factor when combined with what gear you are in?
@ALLElectricChannel
@ALLElectricChannel Жыл бұрын
the pedal assist on the Aventure 2 is very natural because of the torque sensor compared to the first model (cadence sensor). When you are in a low gear "4" (easy to pedal) you can get more revolutions with the pedal and its great for climbing a hill. When you go to "8" (hard to pedal) its great for a flat road when you want to go fast. When you go up in the pedal assist level (more assist) it allows more power to go to the motor. So if you were on a flat road in gear 1 and pedal assist "turbo"; the bike would go very fast with minimal/no effort. In contrast, if you were in gear 8 and pedal assist "eco" (lowest level); you would get some assist, but it would be hard to pedal the bike. ....I hope that makes sense and doesn't confuse you more. Sorry my video wasn't clear about this.

I'm 6' 2" and just test 'rode' the standard size, and it was plenty big enough for me. My inseam is 33 inches and I had 2 inches of clearance from the upbar when standing flat-footed on the ground. I am picking up the large framed size tomorrow, but I did make the standard size work, and still wasn't at the end of the seat tube. Actually had probably 2 1/2" still available on the seat tube before I got to the max seat height. I think the standard size would be plenty big enough for a 5' 10" rider.

@@snowmadic635 did a test ride on the regular frame (step-over) and it was perfect for me. Got the full leg extension without any issues, while maintaining a decent upright posture. There was also extra room in case I needed to raise the height of the seat if needed. The large frame is essentially the same exact frame as the regular, however, the stem of the frame that supports the seat post is just a tad bit higher on the large frame. So, in reality unless you're in the 6'2+ I'd think the regular frame will do the job. The bike is massive, not in terms of weight (assuming those who complain have never exerted themselves physically lol) but in terms of how it presents itself. To say the least, it stands out and its really gorgeous in person. Get it. Ordered mine from a certified dealer, which comes with assembly and drop-off since since it was free and the bike being the same price as advertised on aventon's website. Hope that helps!

I have the first Aventure with the cadence sensor and each PAS level caps at a certain speed. Does the same thing happen with the 2.0 version? If so, what are the speeds where assist stops helping? Also, can the bike be easily changed from a level 2, 20 MPH to level 3, 28 MPH like the original?
@NathanSikes01
@NathanSikes01 Жыл бұрын
I have a Pace 350.2 and the new Aventure.2 so I understand what you are talking about here. On the Aventure.2 I use PAS level 2 (touring) and the motor works well up to gear 5 out of 8. Using Level 4 I. PAS (turbo) the motor contributes through all the gears. I liken the torque sensor to manual transmission in a car; work your way up through the gears for the motor to fully engage with pedaling. You'll find that you may not hit gear 8 that often. Yes, the bike can be changed from class 2 to class 3 easily; however, this is one of my complaints about the bike. You have to use the Aventon app on your phone to "raise" the speed limit. Poor design as this should be independent from the phone app. And you cannot use class 3 on throttle assist as it will top out ~20mph. Another flaw in the design I feel.
@mikebryant538
@mikebryant538 Жыл бұрын
@@NathanSikes01 I think I had to use the app to change from class 2 to 3 on my 1.0 Aventure. I expect they can't make it too easy otherwise the regulators wouldn't let them say the bike as Class 2. So, say you start riding the bike in a high gear and you're pressing hard on the pedal since you aren't moving very fast. Does the motor help you or are you forced to downshift before it adds anything? In the case of the cadence sensor, it doesn't add much power since the crank isn't turning, I'd hope the torque sensor works differently.
@NathanSikes01
@NathanSikes01 Жыл бұрын
@@mikebryant538 I just went out on my aventure.2 and found that in the lowest PAS, ECO mode, the motor can be engaged at gear 6 and easily felt as you do your second down stroke. The motor in Gear 7 was not felt starting in ECO mode. In the next level up in PAS, Tour mode, Gear 7 engaged the motor immediately. I tried gear 8 in Sport mode and it engaged the motor immediately as well. It was surprising how fast the bike got up to speed starting out in a high gear; however, I refrain to do so because I need to treat my knees well and not overdo them. Hence, I usually start at gear 3 and work my way up. I typically use the Tour mode in PAS for my biking and go 20 miles on 30-35% battery. Note that the battery level is like a car's gas tank and will run miles at 100% before starting to come down on its guaged value. Hope all this helps.

I love the torque sensor on my e-bike. The thing you must keep in mind when buying a torque sensor e-bike is the gear ratios the bike comes with. If the bike ghost peddles easily that will result in low speed. No torque on the peddles, no e-assist. My e-bike came with a 42T chainring with a 14-28T freewheel and I was ghost peddling around 20 mph while the e-assist could go up to 28 mph. I changed out the gear to a 52T chainring with a 11-34T freewheel and now it pulls hard all the way up to 28 mph no problem. Ghost peddling is a thing of the past. My e-bike is SO much more enjoyable to ride now.

@@ALLElectricChannel Of course! This is something anyone interested in a torque sensor e-bike needs to know. It's easily overlooked, especially with first time torque sensor buyers because you "assume" the manufacturer knows what they're doing. But this is far from the case with many. I'm actually very surprised this isn't talked about more. It doesn't cost any more to put the correct gears in than to sell them with the wrong gears. Yet many torque sensor e-bikes sold have gearing that leads to very early ghost pedaling and much frustration for the rider due to not getting any assist while ghost pedaling. Not a problem so much for the cadence sensor e-bikes because all you have to do is rotate the pedals and you're going to get assist up to your 28 mph cut-off regardless. So be sure to do your homework before buying an e-bike with a torque sensor. Having said that though, a properly geared torque sensor e-bike that pulls in every gear up to the limit has far more control and a higher level of satisfaction than a cadence sensor e-bike, especially one that ghost pedals early. Because then you're just along for the ride. But many are okay with that. I personally just wanted more.

Aventon does make really good ebikes. I think they are leading at this price point, but there are plenty of ebikes in the $4,000+ range that are "better". You're getting a lot for the price with Aventon.

Rear shocks rob power and are for downhill riding and jumping. Plus they add a ton of weight.

Appreciate your input! I totally get the trade-offs with rear shocks, but personally, I find the added comfort of a rear shock enhances my riding experience, especially on rough terrain. Everyone has different preferences, and it's awesome that we can discuss the pros and cons. Happy riding, whatever setup works best for you!

Why no reviewer talks about the battery amps ? The web site also do not disclose the battery specs. This is a huge red flag to me. I asked them a question using the chat, question which the AI chatbot could answer but it did not since my question was about battery specs.

I just bought the high step camo version. Same one you have. Like you, I wish there was more low end torque, more punch from a stop. Also, I could not tell any real difference between eco mode or turbo mode while pedaling. Kind of disappointed in this bike.

The problem with a rear shock is the torque sensor. It would not work properly.

Frame is prone to pedal strikes and it has a comparatively small battery.
@WolfsToob
@WolfsToob 8 ай бұрын
The frame isn’t the issue, it’s the length of the crank arms that come with it. I just replaced mine with shorter 152mm crank arms (got some for $25 bucks on Amazon), and no more pedal strikes.

Just be careful with making the bike stand too upright on the kickstand. A gust of wind from the left side can more easily blow it over.

Solid bike, fast, comfortable, and all that. The speed control is garbage. Its basically an ON/OFF switch. Select the power level, start pedaling and after about 2 seconds, the power engages and slowly builds up to max. The thumb "throttle" is the same, just a switch. It's a huge disappointment at $1800
@18andlikeit
@18andlikeit Жыл бұрын
Sounds like you're talking about the original version, which has a cadence sensor. The Aventure 2 has a torque sensor, which pretty much eliminates the "on/off" power feeling.
@WolfsToob
@WolfsToob 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think you are talking about the original version. I have an Aventure.2, and it has a torque sensor which engages the moment I start to pedal. The thumb throttle is also a variable switch, so you can use your thumb to give it a full gradient of power. The more you push the switch, the more power/speed you get out of the motor.

They only last 2-5yrs. Aventon website: “ After about 1000 charge cycles, around the 2-year mark for a daily ebike user and up to the 5-year mark for infrequent users or “weekend warriors”, you'll notice that the battery won't fully charge. This is a natural part of the lifecycle of all lithium-ion batteries.”

Be aware Aventon’s customer service sucks, so if you get a bike with an issue right outta the box Iike I did, be prepared to not get a response to your inquiry in the time frame their reply email says, do expect them to give you a BS response to a review left on their web page in less than a day! 2k dollar bike and cant even ride it!
