I highly recommend the book “Rethinking Hypothyroidism: Why Treatment Must Change and What Patients Can Do” by Antonio Bianco MD, thyroid scientist and clinician of many decades, and also the former president of the American Thyroid Association. The book is written for patients and clinicians. It addresses why many patients continue to have symptoms on T4 (Levothyroxine) only treatment and lays out the regimen that adds T3 (Liothyronine). There are also some good videos here on KZfaq with Dr Bianco giving this lecture.

I just saw my Endo and he did an ultrasound and said I'm in end stage Hashimotos and there's nothing more that can be done. He said he only did the ultrasound to prove to me that the thyroid specific vitamins I told him I have taken in the past have done nothing and to save my money. I feel he's been a bit arrogant since I have let him know my desire to want to improve my thyroid function through diet and supplements and possibly try to titrate down my dose if possible. I thought it seemed strange that he tells me I'm in end stage Hashimotos but to keep taking the same dose and I don't need to see him for a year, just seems weird to me.🤔

Synthroid did not work for me years ago, but my MD I was seeing would not change it to natural thyroid. I found a new provider and she put me on naturethroid, which is not around anymore. Now I'm on NP. Naturethroid was so much better!. Synthroid did not work for my big dog as well, who had very low thryoid levels. Now I pay a lot of money to keep him on compounded NP. It makes a big difference for him. I have been on LDN for years, but unfortunately it does not affect my thyroid. I also give that to my dog. Thanks for all your informative videos Dr Shawn

Ten years ago my thyroid antibodies were 720, now they are 12. Two different Drs told me it's because there is nothing left to attack. I take Levothyroxine at this time, but took NDT in the past. It's very expensive and insurance doesn't cover. I never feel well, not matter what form I take.

Have you read the book Stop The Thyroid Madness? I have Hashimotos. I'm so angry that I can't get treated properly. 😢

When I go to my GP to have him run labs, I always ask him to check my TPO antibodies. They used to be in the thousands and are now just over 300. He tells me that these numbers don’t matter and that I will always have elevated antibodies. Instinctually I want to know if I am on the right track with regard to these antibodies. I also have to ask for the full thyroid panel or he will have the lab run only the TSH. 🙄

I took NP thyroid for a long time... it got expensive. I found a med it Mexico that appears to work just as well.

Armour is best 30mg split dose being t3 has short life 6 hrs. Feel tremendous. Lost 22 lbs. Thyroid gloubulin is high 14.03. Watching from Michigan

Does low estradiol cause thyroid problems? I seem to hitting a brick wall with my estrogen patch. ) O.05 patch 2x per week. I cannot tolerate micro progest at all. I tried it vaginally and had severe burning and pain. Some studies I have read stated low estradiol can cause thyroid issues???? I am getting labs for thyroid tommorow and my previous labs in November were fine. I am confused. I am thinking about bumping my patch up to the next dose? I am 63 and have been on hrt since 51.
