I was so happy that this is as excellent as it turned out to be! Gorgeous film - the chap with his bolted arms outstretched while John watches like a priest ❤ - and Tobin’s charisma is astounding. I may have to go again!

Aw me too! It's wonderful when you're excited for a film and you're not disappointed. It's funny you say that, I was just thinking that I might go see it again at the cinema.

Yeah that trap with John & Carlos, I was literally on the edge of my seat on that one. That took me by complete surprise. & When each one of them was fighting to save each other, I was like you're going to do it, aren't you? But nope they both live. My 2nd viewing I still was on the edge of my seat. Just goes to show how powerful that scene alone is. 2 traps made me cringe hard both viewings. Valentina & Gabriela's traps. Their acting completely sold it. Plus the soundtrack beats hit exactly on the right spots. I'd say it's the best acting & soundtrack out of the entire franchise. But I still don't know where I'd Rank it. But the one thing that pissed me off is Gabriela being killed by Cecilia. She was the most redeemable character, you can tell she wanted out & to get help even though she never said it. But I'd say it was needed to get us to hate Cecilia even more & it works perfectly.

Just been to see it solo cinema trip. I loved it. Probably my favourite of the ten and this is also such a great channel. Finally found a UK horror channel

Spoilers: I loved the story and the performances it felt like a saw movie again, and seeing the catalyst to Amanda's eventual abandonment of Johns philosophy was fasinating. I also saw most of the twists coming, but i def didnt think theyd put a kid in a trap that was wild. My two gripes are the con artists leaving all that evidence behind. Do they buy new equiptment every time? Doesnt seem like a very cost effective grift lol. I was also disappointed by a couple traps, Valentina and Mateo, bc they did what they needed to do and lost by seconds. I think if it hadn't happened back to back with their traps i wouldnt have minded so much. Still loved the movie regardless, it felt nostalgic without being bogged down by saw's complicated lore. I could see a newcomer easily watching this movie and not being confused, which is a hard balance to achieve with a series running this long.

Great comment! I agree it's one you could probably access without too much previous investment in the films. And I think your point about the con artists leaving the equipment is hilarious! Not cost effective at all. And I hadn't even cottoned on to this showing the start of Amanda pulling away from John's teachings. That's so interesting.

@whatthehorror thanks! I had a lot of thoughts after seeing it lol yeah I definitely feel like seeing Cecilia's utter heartlessness (especially toward Gabriela) is what ultimately made her conclude people can't actually be saved and started rigging her traps to just punish people instead

Valentina & Gabriela's traps I cringed the most on & even on my 2nd viewing. The others I was desensitized. But my 1st time seeing it, it seemed like a cringe fest. But to your point on them losing by seconds, every Saw movie has that at least once.

@joewas2225 I'm desensitized to most of it but the "bloodboarding" got me bc of my fear of drowning lol and yeah it happens in every film, but back to back traps just made me irrationally frustrated about it

Great review! I appreciated how much this movie belonged to John Kramer. Tobin Bell is brilliant and it’s great to see him do his thing without it being just a series of contrived flashbacks and miraculously left-behind videos. Also, great move making the victims actually be so despicable that you really want them to suffer for their sins. It worked well in Saw VI with the horrible insurance company people and it worked again here with the scammers. Plus the traps were nice and grisly. An excellent return for the main series.

I really appreciate your spoiler free review. Believe it or not, where I live, the movie won't be released until late November. For a hardcore Saw fan, that's pure hell. But so far I've managed to avoid almost all spoilers. All I know is that I'm in for a great movie :)

Saw (no pun intended) this movie a few hours and my head is still spinning. Have not felt this amazing since SAW VI and the first two movies. This had me at the edge of my seat, with one trap in partocular that had me squirming on my seat. But what an amaxing finale "You're a warrior" had me in tears.

I think it's great when franchises go back to basic and make their fans happy.. while squirming in this case 😂 I also saw (again no pun intended) the final twist coming a mile away, but as a good SAW movie it gives that final person a choice, making whatever happens next the direct result of that choice. Also, going to this treatment feels like it ties with SAW VI when the Medical Insurance d-bag says they'll suspend coverage for him.

I do wish that Cecilia’s trap wasn’t as ‘easy’ as it was. She should’ve got Valentina’s trap or at the very least, Matteo’s one. That’s the only thing that pissed me off.

I thought it was awesome! THE MID-CREDIT SCENE WAS EVERYTHING!!! I just couldn't stop smiling at the accomplice reveal! My biggest critique on any saw trap throughout the series is the "survive the brutality yet still get game over" trope. I know it's there to placate fans who want to see the trap in action and also want to see the aftermath of not winning. It still bugs me that it happens a bit too much. How are there future support group survivors if no one actually survives ever?

@whatthehorror I wasn't their biggest fan back in the earlier movies. Seeing them again and just the utter delight in this role even for just a few minutes was pretty cool. Also, during the whole movie, I kept thinking, "What about the bait guy? He had to be in on it, too! Why isn't he getting tested?" So when the scene came, I was like HELL YEAH GET HIM! lol

@@tattedupluv same, if it was a con then that person had to be in on it. The person from the credit scene isn't my fave character (I don't dislike them it's just I have others I like more) but I was SO happy when they turned up! I justice felt so much joy to be a Saw fan experiencing this movie!

I saw it this afternoon and loved it! I'm a fan of the franchise due to the traps & the storytelling. Saw X nails both! Cecilia is an amazing character. You mentioned how most fans aren't too keen on 3D, Jigsaw & spiral, while I agree 3D & Spiral we're a little disappointing (my two least favs of the franchise) I really like Jigsaw! Underrated imo. You should definitely do a video ranking traps! The rack from Saw III is mine and John's personal favs 😅😋 Another great video 👏

I'm so glad you loved it! I'm just so happy for us Saw fans, it's an awesome time for us! Do you know what; I said that about 3D, Jigsaw and Spiral because I know lots of fans didn't like them but I actually like Jigsaw and I will happily watch 3D for that kick ass ending.

Spoilers below!!! I think the producers made the right decision going the prequel route instead of following on from the latter timeline. Jigsaw and spiral had their moments but it was great going back to john and Amanda's world for a couple of hours, I still love the dynamic between them. And I was beyond excited at hoffman popping up, what a great touch for longtime fans. Overall it was a bit too long and could have been trimmed in places but some great fiendish traps and certainly one of the stronger entries of the franchise. On a par with scream 6/insidious red door/evil dead rise, not the best entry but enjoyable nonetheless

I agree that those aspects were brilliant and I think that going the prequel route meant they can get back to the feel of the orignal/early Saws. I'm so excited to see it again!

I love this film, it's in my top 3. I like the story and feeling sorry for John was a new experience. I know many people say the creators probably regret killing John off in Saw 3 but what if they did a new timeline like Halloween and forget everything after Saw 2 🤔

Feeling sorry for him was new and I don't think it felt wrong to. They wrote it in such a good way. Maybe the producers regretted it but its apparently what Leigh felt was the right/only option. They'd had him dying of Cancer for 2 films so it was only right to have him die by the end of the 3rd.

Good review, i liked this movie, i thought it was a strong entry, probably top 3 saw movies made Spoilers: i didnt like how extremely brutal the eariler traps were compared to ceceilia's. Shes the mastermind behind the con but all she needs to do to survive is laughably easy compared to cutting off limbs and brain parts. Other than that and some plotholes, i did enjoy the movie and the mid credits scene was really cool with one of the most interesting traps ive seen

I'm so envious! I still have to wait three weeks to see it. So I read the IMDB synopsis. Not sorry I did that, I know I will still enjoy the movie. However, I stopped this video just after you spoke of the first trap because though I know the traps now, I haven't actually seen the movie yet. Truth be told, I too feel some sympathy for John. Zac is wrong to laugh at you! 🙃

The first still gets the edge for me, but this ranks right below. Bringing Kevin back as director and having John and Amanda as leads was a very smart decision to bring back the old fans and get new ones as well. My rankings: Saw Saw X Saw VI Saw II Saw V Saw IV Saw VII Jigsaw Spiral

Their traps are the ones I cringed the most & even on my 2nd viewing. But Gabriela, I'm pretty sure I won't be desensitized to that one & I'll always cringe. There's always that 1 trap you always do in the movies no matter how many times you see it. For the most part anyway.

I just saw it I understand now why they didn’t get Samuel l Jackson and others back for it it was amazing it ties in perfectly to the whole series I really hope they get this to lead into a new apprentice and have Chris rock and the doctor from saw 1 and other saw appearances he made im pulling a blank but this was by far the scariest not the bloodiest not the funniest but dam it was scary I laughed once when John talked to Carlos

I loved Tobin Bell's performance and the amount of Jigsaw screen time. Unfortunately the twist was too predictable and I feel it took too long to get to the game, which were then rushed

Spoiler - the ending was weird was I the only one who thought that a guillotine would behead the villain? ADAM ISN'T DEAD the body is Detective Tapps body so many clues showing that Adams still alive

@@whatthehorror With everything we know about John why would he leave Adam to die. There had to be something in the room besides the key and hacksaw for him to use. Also what Amanda did must have been a few hours after Lawrence escaped and was found by John. In Adams death scene we see John saw Amanda leave there's also the fact that Adam smashed his head on the toilet seat that's a concussion and could've lead to him losing consciousness. Also Lawrence was probably still in the building it takes a few minutes before a person loses all brain function Adam could've been revived. There's also the fact that in Saw 2 the clothes on the body look smaller than they did originally, the chain was on the wrong foot and the body looked much more degraded. The features of "Adams" corpse look different it looks more like Detective Tapp whose body was never discovered since the events of the ideo game isn't seen as canon

Bullshit. It's a copycat Saw movie, not canon despite what people claim, doesn't have John, the traps are rigged to be unwinnable, etc. It's NOT a Saw movie.
