What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

@Henry Ford They can complain to the manager if they want to but most people wouldn't really be bothered by it in the first place. But you're right, it's their right to complain to the manager if they wish. However you said it's not personal with the waiter, I disagree. It became personal as soon as they mocked his stuttering by imitating him, that was unnecessary.

as a customer i would be pretty annoyed by this But yea mostly for the reason that people dont really talk that much in a customer buisiness situation and stuttering would just increase the duration i'd have to listen to a stranger. Here you just say Hi and what you want and they say hi, give you what you asked for you thank each other and say bye. thats like not even 10 words per interaction. Americans tell you there lifestory when you want to buy something >.>

@@tupacshakur5868 its never that easy. as someone who stutters myself (and works in retail), i have a hard time even starting sentences sometimes. its extremely frustrating and embarrassing not being able to speak freely, and even more frustrating when the person i’m trying to speak to has no patience. so no, “here, just say this” doesn’t fix anything. people like you just need more patience in life and compassion for people.
@tupacshakur5868
@tupacshakur5868 Жыл бұрын
@@nicolecherry-carter5153 i understand that and i have my own struggles, but you can fix this issue by chosing a profession that does not require spoken language related skills. Its not the customers fault. If it would be the other way around, lets say im the waiter and my customer is struggling to speak, then you can expect all the patience and kindness necessary. But if im the customer and my waiter stutters like crazy when im in a rush then i will interrupt you midsentence with a "no thank you" and im out. It is absolutely not reasonable to expect everyone in every situation to put up with this, it hurts i know.

I am a stutterer. What bothers me the most is how people see stutterering as a sign of low IQ or menta retardation. I am a stutterer and i know 4 languages. I got GPA of 4.0 in high school and went to medical school. I was awarded a medal of academic excellence by my country's president. What's retarded about that?

I'm a light autistic person. I was stuttering too due to lack of social skills. In the middle of my teenage, I found out I was very cute and got popular (out of nowhere really) and I didn't know how to handle all that sweet attention. I got a special form of dyslexia cuz of my condition. So when I talk or read, my brain sometimes create anagrams instantly (I switch all the letter's order to create another sentence or words). So I can play with letters and numbers like a weird awesome computer but man i'm 32yo and I'm sometimes still strugling with these skills. I'm well now, you gotta have people around you that don't give a shit about your weakness. Confidence will come later and the weakness will fade a lil bit. Trust yourself. I hope you'll have a happy life dude.

I have a stuttering problem and can relate to this. My cousin and her friends used to laugh at me when I spoke because I would repeat it or it won't even come out. It made me cry because no one would want to play with me, I would always get told “ Why are you talking so fast? ” or “Are you in a rush? ” I hurt me, I ended up teaching myself to talk after my friends laughed at me. I still stutter once and a while I got better at talking and even won awards for doing speeches and reading. I'm proud of myself for not letting this come between things I love. I've been the best reader for 7 years in the school and I'm only 13.

i mean i wouldnt be rude, but depending on my situation i might be annoyed by it i.e. when im really on a timer That video kinda had a point, why would someone with a speaking disabillity pick a job where one of their main tasks is to speak with people. Its just suboptimal. I shouldnt be a pilot, because i have poor eyesight. I think its inconsiderate to pick a job like that if you have a handycap in a required skill.

@@tupacshakur5868are you joking? This is incredibly ignorant. EVERY job requires speaking to an extent. Imagine having a disability that you have no control over and having to miss out on your life because of it. Working in a job that requires speaking to customers a lot has both improved my confidence and made me speak more clearly. If others want to miss out on their life and opportunities they deserve because of something they can't do anything about, then that is their choice. I'm personally choosing a job that makes me talk a lot since it helps me so much, and if someone doesn't have the patience then I will politely call them out on it and remind them that they wouldn't want to suffer with this, so therefore they have no right to judge me. And I believe 2pac had a stutter at one point as well, so maybe you should change your username since you're choosing to be so blatantly ableist

@@sophiethelk9557 Its just idiotic to pick a job that doesnt utilize your skillset. If you dont want to miss out on life and opportunities you dont work in customer service and especially not in gastronomy. What is this logic even,... i.e. im super bad at drawing both methodical and creative, there is no universe where I would chose to become an architect just because i would gain confidence from recognisation and good payment. GUYS I HAVE ARTHISIS, LETS BECOME A NEUROSURGEON, said no one ever. Dont pick a profession where your skillset is a burden, pick one where you thrive...lmao Maybe, but only maybe go to speech therapy, pick a job where you can actually apply yourself and dont fkng annoy your customers by telling them your medical history, they dont care, they are there for food. Wimsem - Tekenen & Knutselen While that’s true, King Speech was based off of a true story and people who watched it knew that the stutter was the entire point of the making the movie because he was afraid of stuttering while speaking to the people or whoever and thought it’d make him seem lesser of a human, when in reality those defects and disabilities are exactly what makes us so human.

@Puja Sharma I still struggle on the phone and in meetings at times. But I worked in a customer service job when 17/18 that forced me to figure it out as had to talk to people constantly and learned to calm myself down in mu head and breath. And then went into construction which I am now a works manager looking after big teams of people. Majority of time I am ok now but when I talk to strangers or on the phone I can struggle sometimes. Surprisingly talking more and throwing myself in the deep end helped me. Probably different with everybody I imagine. But it worked for me and I've excelled in my career because of it

I worked with someone who stutters at a hotel for a year or so and I honestly forgot about it right after I met him. I went through something traumatic when I left and I developed one for a several months. There are so many reasons for speech impediments and it’s everyone’s own business. I love how these diners stuck up for this man. I was always so happy while I was working my coworker with the stutter never received any negative reviews and actually he was the employee with the most positive reviews because he was by far the best staff member we had. No one paid attention to it but if anyone had given him a bad attitude about it I’m almost 10000% sure we would have kicked out the guest. We were a VERY popular hotel and if we kicked someone out someone would get a very lucky phone call that we had a room for them instead 🥰❤️

I also stutter but i believe one can overcome his stuttering by practice and positive thinking. When i am confident and think positive i hardly stutter. Stuttering is only caused by negative thinking. We always think negative before speaking that's why our speech isn't improving. We think "what will the people say if i stuttered", what will they think about me if i couldn't speak properly etc and these types of thoughts create so much pressure on brain. Always try thinking positive before speaking. Never think in a negative way before speaking. "You are what you think"

My son does significant public speaking work as of recent, but when he was younger he would get a small stutter when he got nervous or upset. When he first started with the program that he does speaking with, he would slip up a bit here and there, but because he felt comfortable in his element, and it wasn't so bad. He has now built up his confidence and speaks in front of rooms of 100s and with some practice before hand or knowledge of the topic, he's knocking socks off! ❤ One thing I notice when children and adults have a stutter, it gets more intense when they are in awkward situations. And the opposite is noted.
