Zoe Robin's performance at the end is by far my favorite moment of the series so far! So powerful.

Oh bro. I can't wait for your ep 4 breakdown. So much juicy goodness. They're honestly really doing am amazing job with the show. I'm still concerned about the negativaty it's receiving from most other book fans though. I worry it could affect the longevity of the show. Instead of getting mad with the changes we should all instead be ranting and raving about the things that we do love. Because not a single person that loves the world Robert Jordan created can look at this TV show and not find something in it that they've always wanted to see on screen. That brings them that nostalgic joy from their past when they experienced the story for time. Literally every scene they do, changed or otherwise, if you think about it carefully you can perhaps see, if not the shape of the story they're trying to tell, then at least the shadow cast by it. If we give it love instead of hate amazon might even throw more money and run time at them.

I think it's really symbolic that the blood on Nynaeve when she comes out of that arch is an oval shape on her stomach. Like in the shape of a pregnant belly and she just lost her child

I love that Egwene is so desperate to get Nynaeve out of the Arches that she is even using her hands to channel 🖐️

Logain went from channeling saidin to channeling Men's Rights Activists, frankly a very believable arc. Loved this ep. Red is dead; yellow (turmeric from ep2) is for healing. I like how they're setting up Liandrin as a person with relatable pain who's trying to cope by numbing/suppressing/ignoring the pain, while Nynaeve is gently being guided to a path of personal healing. Feel like Mat's scene with the dagger might be another Ishy dream.

Definitely my favorite episode so far. Huge improvement over Season 1

Oooh I’ve been waiting for this breakdown video from you!! Thank you!! I loved this episode…even though they killed Uno. It definitely was a Ned Stark moment (at least for those of us book readers).

I'm not 100% on this, but after seeing ep4 I think the Shindig (love that scene, no floating chandelier but nice buffet table) in ep3 was at the Damodred estate. Moraine immediately asks for a bottle of Ghealdan red in ep4 after greeting her sister (the bottle even looks the same). Not a major revelation but without going to far into ep4 stuff I think it's pretty cool all the little "threads" regarding Logain/Rand/Moraine/Anvaere and that whole situation.

I think it was confirmed by Sarah on the Dusty Wheel (in the comments or something) that they have changed Logain's Talent to be able to see a glow around men who can channel

I like Logan being close to rand this early in the story. It always felt a little off when rand placed so much trust in him later on imo.✌️💗🤘

Great breakdown! I can’t say enough about how much I’m loving the changes from the books, especially the added context that was either ‘off screen’ in the books or that reflects what could have happened. The Uno death truly surprised me and is another demonstration that Rafe and team know how to adapt the books well for TV.

I've seen a video that said one of the Forsaken statues in Season 1 had a lute, so that is probably Asmodean. He had a short, but important role in the books. I wonder if they do keep him, him dying will show that the Forsaken aren't above killing each other... or maybe he'll get a new body and take the place of one of the reborn Forsaken that were definitely cut. I agree that Mat can't be healed from the dagger yet. He wasn't healed until after he blew the horn, so I think that after he blows it, he'll be back at the White Tower for healing (and hopefully by then his luck will kick in as well). I'm really hoping that the beginning of season 3, we'll get the Mat vs Galad & Gawyn battle. They can't not have that... Have Galad and Gawyn been cast yet? I know season 3 stuff will just be after season 2 is done and analysed, but I really want to know if I should go hunting to find out what actors are playing them or if they haven't been mentioned yet. I really liked Gawyn... I found him much more relatable than Galad, even if he had a bad habit of making the wrong choices way too often (actually, I think they both make a lot of wrong choices at points in the story). {Edit - I think I remember mention of Galad... but not of Gawyn... so has Gawyn been cast?}

This episode is the bomb! I love E04 but this is very well executed!

Great vid, as usual! But I have to push back again on the idea Logain could possibly replace Asmodeon. Logain can tell him some things, but not only does he not have power now, but he doesn't even know how to do the most important things Asmodeon teaches him. I'm hoping the Gleeman in ep 2 was him, but I'm feeling very, very confident he will show up regardless. Makes sense they want to establish Logain's relationship with Rand and role as a teacher, though. I think Min might encourage Rand to learn from Asmodeon, and Rand will later realize Logain was the lesser of those two evils.

What do you think about Min's powers being so different from the book? Also, does she actually ever work for Aes Sedai (Liandrin specifically) in the books? I think you're spot on that they're using it as a way to get Matt to Falme, but it was jarring for me, particularly the part about being beholden to Moiraine.

Actually I think it would be a massive mistake to roll Asmodean & Logain into one character. As it currently stands, Logain has no one power. So all he can do is tell Rand about weaves, not actually show any of them to him. More importantly, outside of a handful of weaves, how will he know the weaves of certain things like Traveling? If he knew those things certainly he would have used them. The beauty of Asmodean as a teacher was having the one power knowledge of a forsaken at his fingertips. I do think he’ll guide Rand and teach him what he can, but I still think we get Asmodean. Just as important, and perhaps even more so since this is a TV show, the drama of a Forsaken secretly being the one to teach Rand many of the things he needs to know-and Rand’s obvious need to hide all that from everyone-is candy for an audience. Jordan wrote a lot of cool things into his books, but I feel like many are naturally hard to adapt, especially one-for-one. But a scenario where the main hero has no choice but to covertly work with a high member of the opposing force because there is no one else to teach him what he needs to know? That’s screenwriting gold and gift wrapped for the writers. Seriously, I don’t know how you squander such an opportunity. I’ve been okay with many of the changes, partly because I can pinpoint logistics, financial, runtime, etc, as the reasons to force such changes. But Asmodean is a rare example of something that was both awesome in the books & should hold up just as good, if not better in a visual medium. And finally, everyone keeps talking about how many of the Forsaken were undercooked in the books. Asmodean was very much not part of that group. He was actually pretty well fleshed out. And while he was just a blip in regards to 14 books worth of events, his story arc over two books was far more advanced than many other Forsaken.

To me the Trials represented not so much loss but a test of loyalty - as Accepted your loyalty is to the Tower, your Sisters and later on to the Oaths, not to your family, your village, your loved ones and not even to your own happiness. A servant of all cannot have preferences. But the topic of loss is very prominent this season.

Great video! I absolutely loved this episode. For me, this encompassed so much of what I love about The Wheel of Time as a series.

My only concern is Logain as Rand's teacher. How long was Logain using the Power? Does he know all the various weaves? Asmodean was a forsaken and had a thorough understanding of the Power. Otherwise, it was the BEST EPISODE we've seen so far. Thank you for your excellent review. On to E4

Hard to see Logain replacing Asmodean/Natael even if Nynaeve was to heal him early. - unless Lews Therin is still in there somewhere with knowledge of the old spells. Would like to think the battle with Asmodean still takes place in S3 as Rand becomes He Who Comes With The Dawn. Arches scenes were great, but have consumed a lot of screen time

I do not believe they are replacing Asmodean with Logain. I believe they are setting up Rand's need for an actual teacher. It kind of came out of nowhere in the books, Lanfear saying she would get one for him, but here the need is obvious and Rand will realize he needs a teacher that can actually weave the One Power and better yet, one who knows how to shield his dreams. The same goes for Mat. The previous season they were already addressing his memory gaps (did I kill the little girl) and now they are also adding the wish to get away from the Aes Sedai. So his wishes are becoming quite clear.

After seeing how they made Dracule Milhawk in live action One Piece, i am curious on how they are going to do Matt once he gets his hat and amulet as well as his skills and weapon. Since we have seen Perrins eyes, Rands coat...all that is left is Matt

definitely a fantastic episode. i really love the portrayal of Logain in the show and i think you are probably right, they very well might replace Asmodean with him. I hope they dont though. im glad hes getting more and earlier screen time and i think they are doing an excellent job with him, but i think the plot with Asmodean would be an interesting one for a tv series and i could see it working really well. im looking forward to seeing that if they end up doing it, but if not it definitely could work having Logain instead. Even though its a great scene, i still cant believe they did that to Uno :D ach! the goat kissing so-and-so's! i definitely thought, and i bet most people will agree, the scenes with Nynaeve were the best parts of the show so far.

The sad fact is that learning how to use the Saidin fromLogain is going to be a lot like having Stephen Hawking teach you how to dance.

Not a fan of the Rand/Selene or the Rand/Logain story lines so far but waiting to see how it plays out. How would Rand learn all of the forgotten weaves that Asmodean taught him from Logain - Logain would have no such knowledge? Also not a fan of Perrin’s character at this point - why has he not interacted with Elyas at all? You would think he would be incredibly interested in learning about the golden eyes and who is Elyas. Also Ishamael saying he would be closer to him if he turns more to the wolf is completely antithetical to the lore of the books. Wolves in the books despised shadowspawn and would throw themselves at one immediately with no thought to their own lives. How could being a wolf get you closer to a Foresaken? Doesn’t make any kind of sense and will be inconsistent with Perrin’s arc with Hopper. Nyneave and Egwene’s characters are spot on - love how they are progressing in the show. Lastly, I don’t get the Min/Liandrin thing - why would Min be willing to work with Liandrin? I get that she’s promising her freedom Moraine’s hold but wouldn’t she just be trading one Aes Sedai’s hold for another’s? And wouldn’t Min get at least a hint that Liandrin is Black Ajah from a viewing? I feel the writers are twisting themselves (and the plot) into pretzels in order to support the changes they’re making (which may be well intentioned). Lastly, the Seanchan so far are awesome (with the exception of the Damane pacifiers)!

One other nit-pick really but I like the Seanchan a lot so far in the show - they are just amazing! But in the scene with Uno where the soldiers pound their spears in unison and say “to obey, to await, to serve” - they are very out of sync in pounding their spears. I know this is a minor quibble but the Seanchan above all else are an incredibly disciplined society (especially the soldiers) and they would be in perfect sync in the books. To see them be so sloppy on the screen, discounts this pervasive aspect of the culture imo. This detail would not have been difficult or costly to attend to, so to me it’s just sloppiness on the part of the production team and director and just takes away from the otherwise spot on portrayal of the Seanchan.

I'm sorry they killed Uno off so quick. I wanted more bad language but it is understandable for his character. I'll have to post my Jon/Uno art as a memorial. I wander if Guy Roberts and his wife had a little fun with her being partly responsible for his death. haha

This is actually my least favourite episode of this season. I am really angry about Uno (and what they're doing with Min). They might as well not have introduced him at all, if they had to kill him off like that. And I hope, at this point, they just cut off his story line completely, because if they give his bits to someone else, it will only make me angrier, because they could have just kept him, then. After watching Episode 4, besides, I have decided that this is NOT the Wheel of Time at all. I cut them some slack in season 1 because of Covid, but now they have been treating the source material like a chicken they have strangled, deboned, blitzed into an unrecognisable paté, where every now and then an original nugget emerges (and I'm not just talking about the actual scenes and character, but the core principles of how things work in the story). I will keep watching the show for the sake of the actors, who are doing and would have done a stellar job, if only they had been given the actual story, but I will try to just consider it as a completely original series with some random occasional resemblance to the books. I do agree they are merging Logain and Asmodean, as they have merged Verin and Vandene (which will be interesting how they reconcile that, given certain actions and revelations in later books).

They have ruined this series irrevocably, as I knew they would It doesn’t even resemble the actual story. Killing Uno in this way is a slap in the face to all readers
