Dirt 2 is one of the first PC games to support DX11. DX11 was used to apply tessellation on water (enhanced ripple effect), cloth simulation (flag), and crowds in Dirt 2.

@@Zakon_by you do know that you can keep videos with copyrighted music up right? You just can't monetize it. Unless its a rare situation like this one where he had to mute the song in order for the video to not get blocked worldwide.

This was an S tier game. I did everything in it, though I’m still missing the two online achievements despite having weeks of playtime. The online “race weird class/track combos” aspect is something I haven’t seen us get since. Rallycross at Ensenada, trophy trucks at China or LA, Trailblazer at Croatia’s narrow roads, it wasn’t always ideal, but definitely fun.

That’s kinda the sad thing. I know there’s a mod for Dirt 3 and Dirt 1 but you didn’t need a mod for it in this game. It was just like that. I think the only thing you can’t do in that regard is specifically quick races offline in that fashion? AI probably wasn’t designed for Trailblazer at Malaysia…

@@Exponaut_R-01 I am utterly clueless why would the devs remove such a cool, kickass feature that made the game 100x more fun. I mean, not only switching the car category, but also turning a rally event into essentially rallycross.

9:00 I'm pretty much agree. I feel like the fun part of sim racing is the difficulty of how much more realistic and harder to drive the cars. However, the downside is that you NEED to do it for yourself. And with the combination of trying to be realistic, you can't share this fun aspect by just showing it to other people. Sure you still can tell them, but "tell" is different with "show"

I seriously relate to that, games just not having the fun factor anymore. The last racing game i ever clicked with was forza horizon 3. The latest game i could just nerd about 24/7 was cyberpunk and that was years ago.

DiRT 2 will always be my favorite modern rally game. Such a nice balance in the simcade handling, atmosphere, gameplay, and presentation. Also a bit sombering in the fact that while this game was made in tribute to Colin Mcrae, it sorta has become one for Ken Block to me too. More so than DiRT 3 has.

GRID in its offroad version, immediatly recognizeabe by the presentation, the yellow filter and the announcer voice :) Ive never been big into serious Rally games, but this one ( just like GRID) hits different :) And just like GRID iam suprised how much game/ content they could get out of 10GB of harddrive space. Iam suprised they never made any DLC for it, although the PSP version seems to have many more loactions.

Sims are just way too serious. Like, I have a regular 9-5 as well as travel etc. I just really like simcade (more arcadey) tbch. Its fun you get on you play, you get off good time.

Would you like to give shift 2 one more run, but with either put Gtyres+Ptmu handling mods or Unofficial patch 1.2 Gtyres with Ptmu enhance the handling physics only but patch 1.2 gives a lot of fixes, addition , and changing the gameplay so far

It's not open world, there's not much emphasis on the festival itself unlike Prostreet where the announces mentions different things about your performance or your car, there's not much sense of progression like there is in Prostreet so mostly it's unlike either of the other 2.
