@@pyametra no it doesn't, actually. But when it does happen it's highly publicized. Since 63% of sa is unreported, it's very minute how much false accusations are brought up. You couldn't name 6 cases. How many cases of proven sa can you name? But the amount, as small as it is, doesn't matter. 1 case ruins a person's life and puts doubts on actual victims.

Absolutely… most of them are still telling their friends, families, and cell mates that the cops just arrested them for no reason and lied to send them to prison. I’m reminded of Shawshank Redemption, when our man Morgan Freeman (ironically) admitted that the difference between him and everyone else in that prison is that he’s the only person there who’s not innocent. On a similar note; I was once told there’s a huge difference between “innocent” and “not guilty”. It didn’t make sense until I learned my childhood friend shot a man in the face and still insisted the cops arrested him because didn’t like poor people.

I understand the 18 year old is young but he already has an ankle bracelet and thinks nothing of driving recklessly without a license and putting lives in danger. He deliberately drove the wrong way at high speed and ran from the police. He should be scared. He’s completely screwing up his life. If he doesn’t grow up, learn integrity and values, he’s going to spend a lot of his life in jail. Saying sorry does not mitigate the fact he could have killed someone. There has to be consequences for his actions. His mother can’t be proud of his current path.

@@eruditioned Unfortunately, the majority of the police force in the US is male and there aren't many female officers. If there are females on the Key West PD, they must have not been on that shift so they had no females to conduct the search. Bringing a female officer from off shift isn't an option as that would continue to use city resources which are limited. It could take upwards of 30 to 60 minutes to use your department call down tree to find an available female. And then another 30-45 minutes for them to get on scene. That's a huge drain on the police resources. As the poster said, it's not always a legal requirement for a female to do the search. They can try to get a female officer if they're on shift but if not, then the male can do the search. It's not against any law for a police officer making a lawful arrest (misuse of 911 resources, disorderly conduct) to conduct a pat-down or frisk. This not only protects the officer but also the arrested person. People have died from hiding drugs then consuming them in order to not get a drug charge while in police custody or while hiding a knife and then using it to attack the officers to avoid jail. You do have a right to disagree with me and I am open to the discussion if you wish to have it. Yes, I am a male. I showed this to my fiancee who is a rape victim and she agreed that the female claiming she was touched was false and sided with the police on her search before drive to jail. I showed this to my mother who agreed that the officers should have made further attempts to get a female but understood that none were available based on what the officers said.

Cops need to stop giving 10,000 warnings that they're going to do something. After the third "warning", if they don't act on the warning, then who in their right mind would take them seriously? This is why so criminals disobey simple orders. They know the cops will just keep repeating the warning and won't do anything.
